* AwesomeDearBoy: When Peter Lord and Nick Park first pitched "Film/TheGreatEscape with chickens" to Steven Spielberg and Jeff Katzenberg, Spielberg immediately agreed to the project because Great Escape was his favorite movie and he owned a small chicken farm!

** A more justified example: in England, what American's refer to as "flashlights" are called "torches." Being aware that this would confuse their predominantly American audience, DreamWorks insisted that a quick shot of Mr. Tweedy coming out of his house with a flashlight be added assure viewers that he was not, in fact, going to get IThoughtYouMeant a large, flaming stick.

** The Portuguese dub gives three cases of this. Mac talks with a vague Madeira/Porto accent (muffled a bit by her fast speech and big words). Mr. Tweedy speaks in a distinctive Porto accent (But not Mrs. Tweedy, for some reason). And the mice talk in an Alentejo accent.

* AccentAdaptation: In the Swedish dub, Mr. And Mrs. Tweedy speak in a Scanian accent. An accent in Southern Sweden which has similarities to Danish pronounciations. And Mac, to correspond to the Scottish accent, speaks heavily in an East Gothland accent (Östergötland). However, it wasn't enough to make her unintellegible, so she also speaks SesquipedalianLoquaciousness wise, and fast.

* ActorAllusion: Rocky yells "FREEDOOOOOOOOM!" when he first flies into the farm. Also, one of the chickens says "I'm not even certain he was American.", a reference to the fact that many people, even in the UK, think Mel Gibson is Australian (he was born in the US, but moved to Australia at age 12). Another Braveheart allusion occurs when asked where he's from:

* ExecutiveMeddling: Creator/DreamWorks and composer HansZimmer (who heads the Dreamworks music department) forced director NickPark to drop an already-recorded musical score by WallaceAndGromit composer Julian Nott because Zimmer decided his people should do the score (Zimmer has a history of doing this). This was one of many reasons why Aardman would leave Creator/DreamWorks in 2006 to go to Sony.To be fair, however, the score that was released was brilliant.

*** Also, one of the chicken characters was originally a pigeon.
*** Babs is a combination of two characters, one of which was named Edwina. The filmmakers later reused the name Edwina for the chicken whose head gets lopped off, as an inside joke.

** There was animation done of Ginger and Rocky's BigDamnKiss where the beak contact was clearly visible. It looked, as the directors said in the commentary, "like two suction cups stuck together."
