** The Japanese voice actors of [[Creator/MinamiTakayama Conan]], [[Creator/NorikoHidaka Sera]] and [[Creator/KikukoInoue Chianti]] play the [[Anime/RanmaOneHalf Tendou sisters]] (Nabiki, Akane and Kasumi, respectively). And the voice actors of [[Creator/KappeiYamaguchi Shinichi]] and [[Music/MegumiHayashibara Ai]] play both Ranma versions.

** In English, there's a total of SIX different dubs. We have the short lived, heavily localized [[note]] at TMS's insistence though they eventually gave up on this [[/note]] Creator/{{Funimation}} dub, the Animax dub (which aired in Southeast Asia) which left the Japanese names and terminology as is, the Odex dub (which aired in Singapore), and the ETV Bal Bharat dub (which aired in India), and Creator/BangZoomEntertainment's dubs (commisioned by TMS) of the ''Episode One'' special, movies 19 (''Sunflowers of Inferno'') through 24 (''The Scarlet Bullet''), Zero's Tea Time, and The Culprit Hanzawa which also leaves the Japanese names and terminology as is despite keeping the ''Case Closed'' moniker, which is pretty much the standard for English ''Conan'' material nowadays [[note]] such as its appearance in VideoGame/GranblueFantasy and the ''Detective Conan Runner'' app (retitled ''Case Closed Runner'' in some territories including North America) [[/note]]. In 2023, the voices of Shinichi, Kogoro, Ran, and Conan reprised thier roles for a new English dub that covered Episodes 965-1014 that replaced the rest of Bang Zoom's cast with Miami based actors.

** In English, there's 3 different dubs. ** Opening 2, "[[https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6b4ce1 Feel Your Heart]]" was never seen in any of the international dubs of the series, instead they kept the first opening, "Mune ga Doki Doki", which resulted in very abrupt cuts on the Japanese track, however this is now averted since TMS has recently updated episodes 1-123 on Crunchyroll with the Netflix Japan streaming masters marking the first time these openings and ending have been released, this may likely be the case with the other examples mentioned below as well.

** And then we get Akai's rival Tooru Amuro, voiced by Creator/TohruFuruya, who plays Amuro Ray in ''Gundam''. Just to hammer the ActorAllusion home, Toru drives a white Mazda RX-7[[note]]the original Gundam's model number is '''RX-7'''8[[/note]], and [[spoiler:his real name turns out to be ''Rei Furuya'', mixing Amuro's surname as well as Furuya's own]].

* MilestoneCelebration: To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the first episode ([[AdaptationDistillation and several others, to varying extent]]) was retold in a two-hour special titled ''"Detective Conan Episode One: The Great Detective Who Shrank"''. The special also [[AdaptationExpansion adds in]] a few scenes with the Black Organization and Sherry towards the beginning and end.

* ScrewedByTheNetwork: In the US, arguably. In Latin America, it was Screwed ''by the Voice Actors'' instead (see below for details).

** The two first movies were dubbed in Mexico, and while [[SugarWiki/SuperlativeDubbing the acting was pretty good]], on the other hand the translation itself was awful, since not only suffered of the TooLongDidntDub trope (something that ''rarely happens'' in a Mexican Spanish dub), it was later found out the Mexican dubbers illegally used a [[UsefulNotes/{{Plagiarism}} script from a fansub for the translation]], causing a quite embarrasing incident with both the fans and the Japanese licensors, and losing the right for dubbing any related material regarding the series for several years. The ban was only lifted in 2016, when another Mexican dub company got the rights to dub the [=18th=] movie (''Dimensional Sniper'') and one of the crossovers with ''Anime/LupinTheThird'' for a digital release, and the [=19th=] movie [''Sunflowers of Inferno''] for a theatrical one.

* {{Cancellation}}: ''Conan'' was dubbed as part of Creator/AdultSwim's anime lineup. Only around 50 episodes aired on the block before they cancelled the series due to low ratings. Creator/{{Funimation}} dubbed a grand total of 130 episodes and the first 6 movies before ceasing production entirely.

** The anime is partially this now that Creator/{{Funimation}} [[https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2018-05-04/funimation-case-closed-kenichi-the-mightiest-disciple-licenses-expire/.131202 has lost the license]] [[note]] The fact that ''Conan'' never really a success for them likely contributed to this [[/note]]. While the more recent episodes (754 and onwards) are still streaming on Crunchyroll & Netflix, the bulk of the episodes prior to that are unavailable legally in several nations. Subbed episodes up to 123 have been released on some streaming sites, but the releases are in batches a year or more apart.

And much like Conan and Heiji, these respective characters were rivals to each other.
