* OutOfOrder: Several episodes in season one were aired out of chronological order, as Disney wanted {{Holiday Episode}}s to fall on the real-life dates of their subject matter. For most episodes, this is hardly noticeable, but it is highly apparent in the HalloweenEpisode, "The Halloween Bash", which shows Chang still working with the Dragon Council to judge Jake's progress, despite airing immediately after the episode where Chang was arrested for conspiring with the Dark Dragon.

* RelationshipVoiceActor:
** At the same time period over on Nickelodeon, Mae Whiteman (Rose) played the heroic female lead of ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'' against Dante Basco (Jake) this time as the initially antagonistic Firebender-from-a-culture-with-a-strong-dragon-theme Prince Zuko, with Clancy Brown (the Dark Dragon) as a villain and Keone Young (Gramps) as the hero's Firebending mentor.
** Polish dub: Creator/AgnieszkaKunikowska (Councilor Chang) and Creator/JoannaPach (Haley) have also worked together on ''WesternAnimation/BarbieOfSwanLake'' and ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom''.

** Honestly, that's just the tip of the iceberg. The series creators had to fight tooth and nail for Jake to be allowed to breathe fire at anything that wasn't a fireplace or fly around without elbow pads and a helmet. Exactly WHERE in the world is turning into a dragon and flying imitable, anyway?

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Read the ExecutiveMeddling and ScrewedByTheNetwork entries, and project that kind of treatment across two whole seasons.

Both of their respective animation studios finished within a year of each other and neither creator knew of the other's project till they were pretty much on the airwaves. Ironically both shows were subject of being ScrewedByTheNetwork.

* FakeNationality: American voice actor Adam Wylie's characters, Nigel Thrall and Fred Nerk, are British and Australian.

** All 3 of the Strigoi brothers in “Bite Father, Bite Son” are voiced by Creator/DeeBradleyBaker.
** In “Feeding Frenzy”, both cousin Greggy and his younger brother Andrew are voiced by Creator/WillFriedle.

*** Jonathan was originally going to be named "Chen" (with "Charlie" as his nickname). And just like with Susan, the dragon powers would've skipped his generation--specifically, it would've been because he was born during the Year of the Rabbit, and people could be born with dragon powers if they were born during the Year of the Dragon.
*** In addition, Susan’s name was originally Sarah Meyer-Long, and she was going to be Jewish.

*** Jake’s friends were much different in the original draft of the series. They were a [[TheBigGuy Big Guy]] named Jamal and a river nymph named Brook. At some point during production, they became Trixie and Spud instead.

** According to one of the writers of the show on the Toonzone forums, at one point there were plans to reveal that Jake's father was a werewolf.

** Steve Loter (Director) said that Rose would have came back to New York after "Hong Kong Longs" had the series continued and that Jake and she would be together.
** It was later confirmed that Chang is Susan’s mother.
