----
* ActingForTwo:
** The Oracle Twins are both voiced by Creator/TaraStrong.
** It goes without saying that since Yang Jake is Jake's clone, Creator/DanteBasco voices both Yang Jake and the real Jake.
** All three of the Gorgon sisters are voiced by Creator/HyndenWalch.
** Similar to the above, all three of the Strigoi brothers in "Bite Father, Bite Son" are voiced by Creator/DeeBradleyBaker.
** In "Feeding Frenzy", both cousin Greggy and his younger brother Andrew are voiced by Creator/WillFriedle.
* Blooper: The series has a few of them:
** In "Professor Rotwood's Thesis", when Trixie reveals Jake's unconscious body to Rotwood, Jake's tail was drawn behind his right leg when it should really be in front.
* CowboyBebopAtHisComputer: There was a particular instance where a voiceover promo on Disney Channel (which occasionally played during the end credits of certain shows) incorrectly referred to Luong Lao-Shi as "Grandpa Master". Presumably, this mistake was made due to a misheard lyric from the theme song: "His skills are getting faster with Grandpa, the master..."
* DuelingShows:
** With WesternAnimation/TheLifeAndTimesOfJuniperLee. Contrary to Follow The Leader popular belief, this show did not copy off of American Dragon. Both of their respective animation studios finished within a year of each other and neither creator knew of the other's project till they were pretty much on the airwaves. Ironically both shows were subject to getting ScrewedByTheNetwork.
** To Anime/Naruto, as this Toonami bumper shows.
* ExecutiveMeddling:
** The ArtEvolution of the second season was the result of the executives coming to dislike the first season's art style, feeling that "the look was all over the place." Director Chris Roman was fired and replaced by Steve Loter as a result, with producers Eddie Guzelian and Matt Negrete giving Loter free rein to do whatever he wanted with the show's aesthetic, trusting his work on prior Disney shows.
** Sun Park, the Korean Dragon was supposed to die in "Homecoming".
*** Also, the episode was originally supposed to be a two-parter.
* FakeMixedRace:
** Jake's sister Haley and cousin Greggy are both of Chinese descent, but their voice actors--Amy Bruckner and Creator/WillFriedle, respectively--are both Caucasian.
** Jake himself could be a minor case of this, with his voice actor being Filipino rather than Chinese.
* FakeNationality:
** American voice actor Adam Wylie's characters, Nigel Thrall and Fred Nerk, are British and Australian, respectively.
** American Paul Rugg as the German Hans Rotwood.
** None of the three main members of the Dragon Council are from America, but all of them have American voice actors.
** Colombian Laura Ortiz as Vicky Fickling.
* OrphanedReference:
** In "The Hunted", Jake says to Huntsgirl that "every Thorn has gotta have a Rose", a line which makes very little sense without the context that Rose's Huntsclan moniker had to be redubbed from "Thorn" to "Huntsgirl" at pretty much the last minute.
** In "The Academy", Sara's vision of the Huntsman's master plan consists of "magical creatures crying in agony". Despite it being previously established that Sara's visions always come true, this part of the vision doesn't come anywhere close to coming to pass. As it turns out, the showrunners' original plan for the Huntsman's wish starting to be granted before he could be stopped was scrapped thanks to the two-part version of "Homecoming" being vetoed by the Disney executives, with this line not being rewritten to reflect that.
* TheOtherDarrin: Theme song-wise, in the first season it was performed by the band Mavin. In the second season, The Jonas Brothers.
* OutOfOrder: Several episodes in season one were aired out of chronological order, as Disney wanted Holiday Episodes to fall on the real-life dates of their subject matter. For most episodes, this is hardly noticeable, but there are a few exceptions.
** "Act 4, Scene 15" show Trixie and Spud having full knowledge about the existence of magic and Jake's responsibilities as the American Dragon, but the episode aired before "Professor Rotwood's Thesis", where they actually find out.
** The HalloweenEpisode, "The Halloween Bash", shows Chang still working with the Dragon Council to judge Jake's progress, despite airing immediately after the episode where Chang was arrested for conspiring with the Dark Dragon.
* PlayingAgainstType: While Creator/JeffBennett is no stranger to voicing villains, the Huntsman is one of the few times he got to be the BigBad.
* ProductionPosse: Many of the writers and voice actors previously worked on WesternAnimation/Fillmore. It's no surprise since two of Jake Longs producers (Eddie Guzelian and Matthew Negrete) were also producers on Fillmore.
* ScrewedByTheLawyers: Rose's alter-ego was originally named "Thorn", which made thematic sense...then someone realized Creator/DCComics had been using those names long before for characters of their own, and several episodes had to be redubbed to replace the "Thorn" name with "Huntsgirl".
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: The last three episodes had their air dates dragged out over several months, and were aired in a different time slot for each one. The series finale was moved to an evening slot against all manner of adult programming, and it got less advertising than High School Musical 2 -- which had already been out for a month and a half.
* WordOfGod: Steve Loter (Director) said that Rose would have came back to New York after "Hong Kong Longs" had the series continued and that Jake and she would be together.
* WorkingTitle: The episode "Supernatural Tuesday" originally went by the title "Student Body by Jake".
