** The High Evolutionary and Ayesha send Adam Warlock to attack and kill Rocket on Knowhere. Warlock succeeds in mortally sounding Rocket before being driven off by the other Guardians, who discover with Rocket having a kill-switch inside him they cannot save his life with a med-pack. They set out to Orgocorp, a business run by the High Evolutionary to find the override code for the kill-switch.
** Teaming up with 2014 Gamora, the Guardians deduce that the Evolutionary’s assistant Theel removed the override code and track him down to Counter-Earth, but not before learning
of ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3'')Rocket’s horrific past as an experiment of the Evolutionary’s. On Counter-Earth, after confronting the Evolutionary, Quill and Groot kill Theel and retrieve the override code, and narrowly save Rocket’s life even after he briefly dies and sees Lylla, Teefs, and Floor in the afterlife.
** The Evolutionary destroys Counter-Earth and kills all of its inhabitants, departing in his headquarters, Arête. Having snuck aboard, Nebula, Mantis, and Drax discover dozens of children imprisoned within as lab rats for the Evolutionary. They reunite with Quill, Rocket, Groot, and Gamora and resolve to evacuate the many higher life-forms trapped aboard as Kraglin arrives piloting Knowhere itself, damaging Arête. The Guardians confront and defeat the Evolutionary, taking him prisoner, and also at Rocket’s behest evacuate the countless non-sapient test subjects that were imprisoned aboard.
** In the aftermath, the Guardians decide to split up. Quill returns to Earth to reunite with his grandfather Jason, who is now an elderly man and is overjoyed to reunite with his grandson; Mantis undertakes a journey of self-discovery; Nebula and Drax decide to stay on Knowhere to build a peaceful, loving community for all. Rocket is appointed the leader of a second iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, consisting of himself, Groot, Kraglin, Cosmo, Warlock (who had defected to their side during the battle after the Evolutionary killed Ayesha on Counter-Earth), Phyla (one of the rescued children from Arête), and Burp (Warlock’s pet).
*** Before leaving, Quill also reconciles with Gamora, acknowledging she is not the Gamora he was in love with but accepting her choice to not have a relationship with him; which Gamora respects and appreciates as she returns to the Ravagers.

** Scott Lang and Janet van Dyne learn of Cassie Lang's studies in quantum technology, and she reveals that she invented a "quantum satellite" device that can map the Quantum Realm. But Janet panics when she learns that it is actively sending a signal, and her fears are borne out when Darren Cross intercepts the signal and hijacks the satellite to suck the Pyms/van Dynes and Langs into the Quantum Realm (along with an experimental ant farm of Hank's).
** The two families are separated, and the Langs are captured by paranoid refugees while Janet leads Hank and Hope as she calls on old contacts. Meanwhile, thanks to the realm's time-warping, Pym's ants spend centuries evolving and building a civilization.
** Kang sends Cross to attack the refugees and capture the Langs, and he threatens Cassie to force Scott to shrink his ship's power core back to normal size. The Pyms arrive as he does so and Hope helps Scott get the core, but Kang refuses to release Cassie and takes Janet prisoner as well.
** As Kang prepares his troops to attack the Multiverse, Cassie and other captured rebels break out of his jail and hijack the transmission, calling the people of the Quantum Realm to take up arms. A full rebellion assaults Kang's base, joined by Scott and Hope. Meanwhile, the ant civilization gets in contact with Pym, and he goes to rally them against Kang.
*** During the battle, Cross tries to hunt Cassie down, but she defeats him. With him not sure what to do now, she encourages him to try being better. He decides to turn against Kang, and ends up performing a HeroicSacrifice to weaken him.
*** The rebellion is initially successful, until Kang himself joins the fray and begins annihilating everything in his path. But the tides turn again when Pym arrives leading the giant ants, who swarm Kang and his forces and decisively end the battle.
** Janet uses Kang's technology to open a portal back to the regular universe. The Pyms/van Dynes and Cassie get through, but Scott's escape is interrupted by Kang. Scott is able to stall him, and with Hope returning to help they are able to kill Kang and return home.
