** Tony Stark becomes Iron Man and puts an effective end to the War on Terror, exposing himself to the world and which Whiplash picks up on.

* The Chitauri invade, led by Loki. In response, Nick Fury revives the mothballed Avengers Initiative, composed of 2 S.H.I.E.L.D. agents (Black Widow, Hawkeye) and the 4 superheroes now operating directly (Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America). Together, the newly formed Avengers drive out the Chitauri, and the world survives its first interstellar battle (albeit, one that lasts no more than an hour). However, to avoid legal repercussions, the team disbands immediately. Thanos becomes interested in Earth, due to the badassery of the Avengers. The Loki's Spear [the soul gem] is now with Hydra, while the Tesseract and Loki are taken back to Asgard by Thor.

* Agent Coulson is revived using Alien DNA and multiple surgeries. He's given a team to travel the world and help with the rising superpowered "gifted" individuals.

** Another S.H.I.E.L.D. group, one headed by Robert Gonzales, forms in the wake of HYDRA's exposure, marking the first point in the "SHIELD civil war".

* Matt Murdock begins his work in Hell's Kitchen, acting as a lawyer in the day, but living as The Daredevil by night. Eventually he is able to dismantle Wilson Fisk's criminal empire with the help of his allies. Fisk is imprisoned for his crimes, while his co-conspirators are either killed or forced to flee the country.

* Captain Steve Rogers continues to serve as an Agent of SHIELD. After a mission aboard the Lemurian Star, Nick Fury introduces Rogers to Project Insight, an advanced system that weaponizes three drone Helicarrers to pre-emptively attack anyone perceived to be a threat. Rogers also meets Sam Wilson, a former member of the 58th Pararescue, and quickly befriends him.

** S.H.I.E.L.D. falls as its HYDRA infestation is exposed by Captain America and his allies. However, not all HYDRA cells have been taken out as a result.

* Coulson's team begins an engagement with "project centipede", a branch of HYDRA working on supersoldiers with leftover tech from the Chitari and AIM.
* S.H.I.E.L.D. falls as its HYDRA infestation is exposed, but not all the cells are eliminated in the process.

* The Guardians of the Galaxy fight Ronin, while leaving the infinity stone with the Nova Corps.

* Peggy Carter and the SSR stop Johann Fennhoff from dousing Manhattan with Stark's Item 017, which would drive everyone into a homicidal rage and cause them to kill each other. They imprison Fennhoff. Arnim Zola persuades Fennhoff to partner with him when they end up becoming cell-mates.

* General John McGinnis steals Item 017, Midnight Oil, which was intended to act as a stimulant and keep the troops more energetic, from Howard Stark and exposes the Russian troops to it in the Battle of Finow. Item 017 turns out to instead mimic symptoms of extreme sleep deprivation, causing homicidal rage, and the Russian troops slaughter each other.

As of the Winter Soldier, the age of Spies has came to an end, and the Age of Superheroes is in full swing.

* Tony Stark attends a New Years party, missing a meeting with Authur Gillian.

* Tony Stark fights PTSD, Authur Gillian and a fake Mandarin.
