* The attempted redesign of WesternAnimation/ElmerFudd into [[http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bu2uLs9dCQc/U_zEmkIUkEI/AAAAAAAAZRQ/S4khxLO2MX0/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2014-08-26%2Bat%2B18.29.52.png a taller, much fatter version of himself]] was so badly-received that only four cartoons were ever made with the design. It ''did,'' however, lead to the [[MemeticMutation Big Chungus]] meme as a result of Bugs Bunny mocking him, so this redesign isn't without its upsides.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'':
** In a series filled to the brim with [[EvilIsCool cool]], [[WellIntentionedExtremist well-intentioned]], [[TheChessmaster competent]], charismatic and interesting [[AntiVillain Anti-Villains]] (many of whom get the [[DracoInLeatherPants leather pants treatment]]), Book 2's [[EvilUncle Unalaq]] has the dubious honor of being the most straightforward, dull, TakeOverTheWorld villain in the series. His [[FantasticAesop lacking the real world validity]] of the others and excessive cruelty, hypocrisy, and his endgame [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt would kill everyone]] meant the show's portrayal of him as similarly well-intentioned before being corrupted were InformedKindness that meant audiences couldn't LoveToHate him for his depravity. He also lacked the power or [[EvilIsHammy over-the-top personality]] that made the straight-up evil Vaatu (who's justified due to being MadeOfEvil) and [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender previous series]] villains entertaining and legitimacy menacing. The RecapEpisode in Season 4 [[TakeThatScrappy mocks Unalaq and calling him "incredibly boring and uninteresting" such the other villains don't even want to invite him in their plan to defeat Bolin]], shown the creators realized he didn't come out the way intended.
** [[ThoseTwoGuys Lu and Gang]] because while they're intentionally {{Hate Sink}}s, they both ''un''intentionally exist to [[CharacterShilling make Mako look good]] and [[DaChief Lin]] look bad for having them employed for as long as they did.

** Elmyra, especially after ''WesternAnimation/PinkyElmyraAndTheBrain''. Before she became a CreatorsPet, though, she was pretty well-liked. It was only after they started shoehorning her into ''everything'' that everyone started hating her. And after a certain short involving her and [[EnsembleDarkhorse Fifi LaFume]]. It's particularly bad enough that ever since the reboot of ''[[WesternAnimation/Animaniacs2020 Animaniacs]]'' the Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain series has been [[CanonDiscontinuity completely retconned out of existence]] '''and''' her character was absent for the first season of ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonsLooniversity'' outside of the theme song.

** [[IronicName Sweetie]] is also hated for being a {{Jerkass}} who torments [[TheWoobie Furball]] and for being a bit of a KarmaHoudini.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Recess}}'':
** Gordy for some fans, thanks to him disliking T.J. ''for no reason'', [[UngratefulBastard even after T.J. tries to please him]].
** Becky Benson from "A Science Fair to Remember", due to her befriending Gretchen only to steal her science experiment for the science fair.
** Phil the Scout, for being a massive {{Jerkass}} in most of his appearances, especially in his [[ADayInTheLimelight focus]] episode "Beyond a Reasonable Scout".
** Spinelli's mother Flo due to some rather nasty treatment in episodes. Notably, she tries to force her daughter to try and be more feminine and seems very [[WhyCouldntYouBeDifferent unappreciative of who Spinelli actually is]]. Her treatment is especially nasty in "More Like Gretchen". Notably her husband seems to be more understanding.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheProudFamily'': DiJonay and LaCienega are both this, due to their [[WithFriendsLikeThese mistreatment]] of [[NiceGuy Penny]], in a very similar vein to [[WesternAnimation/AsToldByGinger Dodie]]. While LaCienega ''did'' get better, as she became more of a LovableAlphaBitch, she still retains much of her AlphaBitch energy, remaining incredibly bratty and petty, ''[[JerkassToOne especially]]'' [[JerkassToOne to Penny]]. As for DiJonay, she's often considered ''worse,'' as, while more well meaning than LaCienega, she's not the best person to trust due to three big reasons: her selfishness, in which she has a terrible case of ChronicBackstabbingDisorder, and she's very fickle towards Penny: her stupidity, from accidentally revealing secrets to other people to her being an InsufferableImbecile, and the fact that [[IdiotHoudini she often gets away with this]]. How Penny managed to remain friends with them is a mystery. In ''WesternAnimation/TheProudFamilyLouderAndProuder,'' however, they ''have'' [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap become somewhat kinder]], but still have their moments of shelfishness and {{Jerkass}}ery.

** Anodites aren't a very well-received species due to what many saw as an incredibly confusing and pointless retcon concerning the existence of magic in the show's universe, with the species itself appearing to be [[StoryBreakerPower completely overpowered]]. It doesn't help that the few representatives (Sunny and Verdona, though mostly Verdona for her ''admitted'' favoritism to Gwen and actually aggressively attacking her own ''grandson'') weren't well-liked either. ''Omniverse'' toned down the Anodite aspect of Gwen's powers as a result, with more focus on the magic side of her powers, and Sunny, her EvilTwin cousin, reduced to only appearing in a harem episode.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'' has Sparky, Timmy's fairy dog from Season 9. After his first episode, he became immediately despised for his reckless, irresponsible, clueless, selfish, and downright obnoxious behavior. His addition also [[SeriesContinuityError violated basic continuity (his previous owners were adults, even though only kids can have fairies)]] and was considered superfluous as the show already had Cosmo as the LethallyStupid ditz. He was so unpopular (not only by fans, [[CreatorsPest but by most of the staff and even the Nickelodeon executives]]) that he [[ChuckCunninghamSyndrome suddenly vanished after Season 9]] and has not been seen since.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheKidsFromRoom402'': [[MotorMouth Polly,]] [[SmallNameBigEgo Polly,]] [[RuleOfThree Polly.]] She is universally disliked not only by fans but also in-universe.

** Yivo, despite being the main antagonist of ''[[Recap/FuturamaM2TheBeastWithABillionBacks The Beast with a Billion Backs]]'' is not really villainous or evil but he is hated for forcing almost everyone in the universe into a relationship with him, meaning that he forcibly put his tentacles into peoples necks and was revealed to be "mating" with those people through those tentacles. Yivo was technically raping these people, yet he [[KarmaHoudini got away with all that]] and was EasilyForgiven for it despite how serious his crimes were. He was also an InvincibleVillain due to being entirely composed of electromatter, only being harmed by [[spoiler:Bender's robot army lining weapons with his "skin"]] ''after'' he was forgiven by his victims. To top off the whole thing, while his victims were universally forgiving of him, [[{{Hypocrite}} he can't find it in himself to forgive them]] when one of them breaks a rule he set of no outside contact, which just makes him look even worse, with even more parallels to romantic abuse.

** Flash Sentry was intended to be a {{Love Interest|s}} for Twilight Sparkle. For some fans, [[DieForOurShip that was all it took to hate him]]. Those who felt that Flash had potential ended up seeing him as a FlatCharacter with little story relevance beyond being Twilight's love interest, [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter wasting whatever might have been with him]]. The writers did not try to [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap redeem him like they did with Sunset Shimmer]] in ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsRainbowRocks Rainbow Rocks]]''; instead, Flash spent most of the movie [[JerkassBall acting unlikable]] due to a HatePlague. In the [[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsFriendshipGames third movie]], Flash is mostly spent out of focus, and when he does get screen time, [[TakeThatScrappy it's spent being shot down by Human Twilight]]. Reactions ranged from fan rejoicing to [[AlasPoorScrappy feeling kind of bad for him]]. His characterization was thought to have improved quite a bit in the digital shorts, where he became more of a good-natured goofball that stopped trying to romantically pursue anyone. But even though the hatred towards Flash cooled off, it never truly went away.

* ''WesternAnimation/AtomicBetty'': A lot of people dislike (and even flat-out despise) Penelope for a good reason. Her attitude half the time and especially on season three is the reason many nearly stopped watching the show.

** Katie Ka-Boom only had a few shorts of her ever made before the writers realizing she lacked potential as a character. The few shorts featuring Katie are so formulaic that they're almost indistinguishable -- Katie undergoes a RantInducingSlight, turns into some sort of monster, then literally explodes to cause devastation to the world around her. Much like the Hip Hippos, Katie Ka-Boom was quickly relegated to a side character after only a few appearances.

** The same thing happened to Katie Ka-Boom, though this may have had more to do with the writers realizing she lacked potential as a character. The few shorts featuring her are so formulaic that they're almost indistinguishable.
** Surprisingly, [[WesternAnimation/Animaniacs2020 the 2020 reboot]] has an unexpected InUniverse example: [[spoiler: Chicken Boo. Due to being the least-liked character of the original show [[note]]Supposedly. Out of universe, his reception with fans was fairly average with most criticism just being his segment was a one-note joke, but otherwise being tolerable and mostly just being a quick buffer in between segments. So this comment might just be the writers' bias.[[/note]] it was contractually stated that Chicken Boo would ''not'' appear in the reboot under any circumstances. So in the episode "Good Warner Hunting", he took up the disguise of EgomaniacHunter Dr. Walter Grubb and personally hunted and bagged '''every other supporting character in the show''', reasoning that [[GreenEyedMonster if he couldn't be on the show, nobody could]]. Fortunately, the Warners managed to stop his scheme, and all of his captive trophies escape to get their revenge on Boo.]]

* Lila is widely disliked for two reasons: a reasonable one (she's "ever-so" irritating), and a... not-so-reasonable one (DieForOurShip in regards to Arnold/Helga, even though she repeatedly states she doesn't "LIKE like" Arnold and isn't a real threat to the ship, regardless of what [[{{Tsundere}} Helga]] might think). It doesn't help that she has a tendency to lead Arnold into thinking he may have a chance, only to crush his hopes when he asks if there's anything between them, but that was really a problem with the RomanticPlotTumor of later seasons as a whole and not just Lila. Lila ends up being DemotedToExtra after Arnold finally gets the hint and stops pursuing her in "Timberly Loves Arnold[=/=]Eugene, Eugene!" only appearing as a non-speaking background character in the subsequent episodes and [[WesternAnimation/HeyArnoldTheMovie both]] [[WesternAnimation/HeyArnoldTheJungleMovie movies]].
* Tied with Lila in this regard is Olga, Helga's older sister. The show established some HiddenDepths with her, however, it also made her a {{Hypocrite}} who goes out of her way to get her parents' attention. Not to mention she doesn't seem to grasp the extent of Helga's ParentalNeglect nor does she seem to follow through with promises she made to Helga. For example, when Olga becomes an assistant teacher for Helga's class, Helga pleaded with her to keep any embarrassing stories out. Olga either forgets or deliberately tells an embarrassing story to the class after Stinky fails a test.

* Sid. He is a FairWeatheredFriend who betrays everyone at the drop of a hat, makes fun of Harold and Patty like a JerkAss, and ''everyone'' forgets he pulls the same thing over, and over, and over again. Whenever Sid gets ADayInTheLimelight, it highlights how [[CloudCuckoolander weird and off-kilter]] he is, and not in a likeable way either. "Bag of Money" is the most notable example of why Sid is often disliked.
