** Though she also has a substantial fanbase, Terra is occasionally claimed to be the most-hated character in ''Teen Titans''. These claims may or may not be accurate, but Terra does have some key things going against her. First, the petty DieForOurShip factor earned her the ire of "Beastboy X Raven" fans (that Beastboy and Raven were never a canon couple in the show does little to dissuade such shippers), perhaps among the most common but least valid issues. Secondly, the creators had to essentially build her from the ground-up because they were adapting a character who was originally written more as a plot device than anything else ([[WordOfGod Marv Wolfman]] said in an interview that he didn't want to write Terra as having any apparent motivation for being a villain, because the whole point of the story was more to utterly shock people with the fact that she was one), creating a host of problems along the way. Many fans of the original comics were [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks enraged]] that her arc ended with her [[spoiler: hastily having a FaceHeelTurn back towards being a hero at the very end, precisely the sort of happy ending [[AwesomeMcCoolName Marv Wolfman]] made a point of setting up and then evading in the original ''Judas Contract'' arc.]] Also, with the changed ending, Terra was rewritten to not be a CompleteMonster, and instead, Slade/Deathstroke was given all the blame for turning her evil, whereas in the original comics ''he'' was a [[EvenEvilHasStandards more sympathetic]] character. This innocent rewriting of the character also caused a borderline plothole, in which Terra's "dark secret" she constantly brooded over on her initial appearance was dissatisfyingly revealed as a simple inability to control her powers, rather than being a villain, as it was in the original. (And as was quite possibly what the writers of the TV show originally wrote before changing it.) That half-assed excuse is also used as the reason she falls in with Slade, as opposed to knowing him all along, as in the original, and as though super villains were ever seen as good mentors for how to use one's powers safely.
*** Worth noting, however, is that the original ''Judas Contract'' storyline had a substantial {{Hatedom}} of its own back in the day, though there were also many who loved it. It also is safe to say the original would not have been practical to adapt for viewers nearly two decades after it was written, because it was written largely as a rebuttal against a similar story written around that time involving [[XMen Kitty Pryde]]; something few modern viewers would have been aware of.

*** It's most likely due to the fact that the Kankers are the ''only'' female characters in the series besides [[FanService Nazz]] and [[BrattyHalfPint Sarah]] and therefore are going to be the main subjects for any male/female pairings in any EEnE fanfics/fanart. And, about the only Kanker that seems to be able to escape her potential "Scrappy" status in the fandom is May due to her HiddenDepths (IE: Showing to have a crush on [[spoiler:Edd]] in one episode and being (somewhat) smarter than she looks) and for being a {{Woobie}} (She gets about as much abuse from her sisters as the rest of the cast gets from the entire Kanker trio). The rest of the Kankers (IE: Marie and Lee)? Definite scrappys.
*** Again, please do some more research. In fanworks, Marie is given HiddenDepths to a greater degree than May.
*** Fanon (fan-made works/ideas) is NOT the same thing as Canon (Actual events in the show and WordOfGod). Just because a fan decided to add HiddenDepths to a character doesn't mean said character has the same depths in the actual show. May's HiddenDepths are actually ''canon'' since they were seen in two different episodes of the series. Marie? She DOESN'T have any.
*** Except that the idea of a Scrappy ''requires'' taking the fanbase into account. It's an ''audience-response'' trope. So yeah, a lot of fans liking Marie even if she doesn't get HiddenDepths certainly seems to contest the [[TheScrappy Scrappy]] label.

*** Also throw in toying with [[TheWoobie Nightcrawler's]] feelings for her which ticked off most of the fandom. The only people who were going to like Boom-Boom were fans of The Brotherhood and they were the ones that hated her the most. Mostly for the the obnoxious and flirtatious way she acted around them. Inviting herself to join them, stealing Lance's jeep, shaving The Blob's hair, picking on Toad and Pietro, etc. So the writers definitely misjudged the character.

** To elaborate how much of a scrappy Spongebob has become, in a recent episode he had gotten Squidward into boating school with him. Squidward, trying to do his work and get the hell out of the school had to deal with Spongebob's annoying. Breathing, his attempts to [[StopHelpingMe 'help']], gets him injured into a full body cast, and finally when Squidward needs help WRITING the test? Spongebob doesn't help. We're suppose to like Spongebob after this?
*** Well, in Spongebob's defense, the reason he didn't help Squidward was because Squid told him to leave him alone and took him up on his order.
*** ({{Beat}}) Dear ''Lord''....Thank God this troper stopped watching shortly after the Movie...
** Patrick Star has grown to become this to this troper. Sure he is a idiot but doesn't mean he gets a free pass on acting like a jerk.
** That is to say nothing of Mr. Krabs himself. Thanks to massive ammounts of Character Derailment, many fans just want to see him suffer a truly horrible fate and with good reason. Recent episodes have seen his rivalry with Plankton devolve into making his life hell just for fun, feeding poison or rotten food to his customers intentionally for the sake of an extra dollar, or extorting and abusing his employees. The fact that he gets away with these at least 80% of the time doesn't help.

*** Quagmire is also often hated for the joke in one episode where he raped Marge Simpson, had her enjoy it, and then go back to their house. After being discovered, Quagmire then kills every member of their family. This was literally Quagmire's only appearance in that episode.

** Despite many people consider Jasper to be the homosexual equivalent of the EthnicScrappy (especially other gays), Seth Macfarlane stated in an interview that Jasper was supposed to ''appeal the gay audience''. It's hard to believe that Seth has gay friends and relatives in real life.

*** Kimi is hated simply for existing by older fans. The ones who grew up watching the show had pretty much stopped watching by the time her character came around, and to see her as a main character in reruns is pretty jarring. If you were just starting to watch after the movies, she is probably more of a [[EnsembleDarkhorse Darkhorse]], but to many she is just unnecessary.

** While Bloo is [[{{Flanderization}} Flanderized]] into being a JerkAss, he was right not to trust a certain other imaginary friend. By far the most hated character to ever enter the show was [[KarmaHoudini Bendy]]. He pretty much fools Herriman and Franky into believing and loving him while he does terrible things around the house and ends up getting Bloo screwed over for it. Bloo, being not very bright, decides to trap Bendy in a situation where they would have to acknowledge that Bendy was guilty of something wrong only to end up screwing himself into destroying most of the house while "Bendy took a cookie." Most fans see this as a bit of a WallBanger.

* While many fans of ''CaptainNTheGameMaster'' are unhappy with the [[NotAsYouKnowThem personality]] and [[YouDontLookLikeYou appearance]] changes made to the title character's supporting cast, they also tend to hate Game Boy, a mid-series addition to the team who rarely did anything useful.
** It didn't help that Gameboy was introduced in the most illogical way possible. Princess Lana's dad, who is trapped in another dimension, sends Gameboy to them via a warp portal that only opens once per decade. He thinks Gameboy will be able to help them in the war against Mother Brain...but by doing so, the king gives up his own chance to go through the portal, despite the fact that his return would have probably ENDED the war.

*** To be fair, it was Bugs' odd [[ButtMonkey loser]] moments such as those versus Cecil that allowed him to gain a more flawed and sympathetic light that prevented him from becoming an insufferable InvincibleHero (it's rare he's anything more than a one dimentional [[TheMinnessotaFats Minnesota Fats]] for Daffy in recent media).

** Hey, come on! I can understand MINDY being viewed as a Scrappy, but not poor Buttons! All that dog ever did was try to keep moronic Mindy safe, and then get yelled at by Mindy’s neglectful mother. His owners were terrible people, there’s no doubt about that, but he was sympathetic and loyal to a fault.
*** Seriously? No mention of the Goodfeathers?
**** Just because YOU didn't like them...

** Sierra has [[strike: a high chance of becoming]] ''already'' become a Scrappy, because:
*** A- She debuts in the season after the one that most fans thought was [[SeasonalRot awful.]]
*** B - She has an obsession with every camper, especially Cody.
*** C - Most fans see her as a non-CrazyAwesome version of Izzy that just brags about how much of a fan she is.
*** D - [[DieForOurShip She has a crush on Cody while not being Gwen or Noah.]] (Especially ironic since her relationship with Cody was probably made so that Cody fans wouldn't complain about him not being with anyone. Unfortunately, that "someone" had to be an annoying obsessed fan who was most likely a TakeThat to a [[BigNameFan well known Cody fangirl]] among the Total Drama community.)
*** E - [[MurderArsonAndJaywalking She overuses internet abbreviations (BTW, OMG and LOL).]]

* Most of the cast in ''TotalDramaIsland'' are love them or hate them characters (some to such a great extent that they become serious BaseBreaker[=s=]: Owen, Gwen recently, Ezekiel recently despite not doing much, Courtney, Izzy, Harold...), but, aside from the villians that are ''intended'' to be unlikable (except Chris), the true scrappies are none other than near-HiveMind Katie and Sadie. They do ''nothing'' except agree with each other all the time, (mostly along with a [[MostAnnoyingSound highly annoying]] "EEEEEEEEEEE" shreek.) occasionally getting into arguments which end with them getting back together, [[spoiler:causing their team to lose ''twice'', each with one getting voted off]], and... nothing else. It's no wonder why they are not in the second or third seasons.]

* Bloo's [[{{Jerkass}} jerkassery]] in [[FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends]] made him earn his hatedom from some fans of the show.

* Though ''Delgo'' as a whole is a [[SoBadItsHorrible Scrappy Movie]], the annoying comic relief is generally the most hated character, being seen as an even more annoying [[StarWars Jar Jar]]. Allow YouTube to [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg0NiK-90ho demonstrate]].

* The goddamn talking gargoyles from Disney's ''Disney/TheHunchbackOfNotreDame''. A lot of fans feel that their overly comedic nature undermine the surprisingly darker elements of the movie. Seriously, does it even seem right to you that a racist, perverted, dispicable old man like Frollo exists in the same canon as a gargoyle with the voice of ''[[{{Seinfeld}} George freakin' Costanza]]''?! In fairness, WordOfGod states that the gargoyles are supposed to be figments of Quasimodo's imagination to cope with his loneliness and are really just inanimate stone, though this makes [[TheGenieKnowsJackNicholson some of]] [[OffscreenTeleportation the things]] they do and say even more inexplicable and out of place.
