* ''Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan2'': [[HerrDoktor Dr. Kafka]] has taken flak for being just too cheesy or campy that it felt out of place even with Max Dillon's ''and'' Rhino's brand of campiness, like something out of [[Creator/JoelSchumacher Joel Schumacher's Batman films]]. Additional flak comes from the character being [[InNameOnly significantly different]] than the Dr. Kafka of the comics, who was a woman and one of the good guys, not to mention largely devoid of hamminess.

** Then there's Amanda Kirby from [[Film/JurassicParkIII the third film]], who easily earns the title of the most hated character in the series. Starting when they land on the island, she spends ''way'' too much of her screen time either [[ScreamingWoman screaming hysterically]] whenever she has even the slightest reason to, or simply being TooDumbToLive, even though most of this is justified from her concern for her son, who has been stranded on Isla Sorna for weeks. Because of her boneheaded nature, she continuously makes Dr. Grant's attempts to keep everyone safe harder than ever, and it really doesn't help that on top of all that, she has other less-than-admirable traits such as occasional moments of stubbornness and selfishness. To be fair though, she ''does'' get a little better and smarter by the end, but at that point, it really isn't enough to make much difference or make up for all of her incredible moments of stupidity that nearly got herself and the others killed. [[spoiler:In fact, the character of Tiffany from ''WesternAnimation/JurassicWorldCampCretaceous'' was based off of her; given the character's generally and ''extremely'' unpleasant nature and gruesome death, it's believed that it served as a TakeThat.]]

* ''Film/LadyInTheWater'': Vick Ran. Unlike most of the examples listed here, it's not because he's annoying or unlikable. The real reason he's hated is because he's essentially destined to become the messiah of writers...who just so happens to be played by [[AuthorAvatar the film's writer/director]]: the one and only Creator/MNightShyamalan. Needless to say, many viewers didn't care for Shyamalan making a character who exists just to brag about how amazing his writing is. The fact that this movie was widely panned only makes the ego trip even worse for most. To top it off, he was even nominated for and won in the Worst Supporting Actor category at the 27th [[UsefulNotes/GoldenRaspberryAward Golden Raspberry Awards]].

** Mary Goodnight, also from ''Film/TheManWithTheGoldenGun'', is often cited as one of the worst Bond Girls in the franchise alongside [[Film/AViewToAKill Stacey Sutton]] and [[Film/TheWorldIsNotEnough Christmas Jones]] (who are mentioned below) due to Creator/BrittEkland's DullSurprise acting and the character constantly coming across as TheLoad, a DamselInDistress, a DumbBlonde, ''and'' a bad example of the ComicRelief despite supposedly being a trained secret agent. ** Verity from ''Film/DieAnotherDay'' (the one with the unnecessary [[ComputerGeneratedImages CGI]] and the pointless IcePalace) received a [[IncrediblyLamePun cold]] reception from critics and audiences. Aside from serving as a superfluous cameo from Music/Madonna (who composed the film's theme song), her acting suffers from DullSurprise and she has absolutely no chemistry with the rest of the cast, either. Madonna even won a UsefulNotes/GoldenRaspberryAwardForWorstSupportingActress at that year's ceremony.
** Dominic Greene from ''Film/QuantumOfSolace'' is popularly cited as the weakest of the Craig-era villains, and one of the most underwhelming [[BigBad Big Bads]] in the franchise's history. He doesn't have any of the visceral psychosis or sadism of his predeccessor Le Chiffre or his successors Silva and Oberhauser, and he overall comes off more as a shyster trying to make a quick buck than as a WorthyOpponent for [=MI6=]'s top agent. It's perhaps telling that, although ''Film/{{Spectre}}'' acknowledges him as an agent of the titular organization and his photo is seen briefly, he isn't included in the literal RoguesGallery towards the end.
** His henchman Elvis from the same film isn't much better in this regard, sharing similar issues with Greene and often being regarded as TheLoad. There's also the fact that, while most Bond villains and henchmen are known for having [[RedRightHand a particularly quirky physical distinction]], his apparently being having ''[[WTHCostumingDepartment a dodgy toupee]]'' makes him hard to take seriously.

** Mary Goodnight, also from ''Film/TheManWithTheGoldenGun'', is often cited as one of the worst Bond Girls in the franchise alongside [[Film/AViewToAKill Stacey Sutton]] (who is mentioned below) and [[Film/TheWorldIsNotEnough Christmas Jones]] due to Creator/BrittEkland's DullSurprise acting and the character constantly coming across as TheLoad, a DamselInDistress, a DumbBlonde, ''and'' a bad example of the ComicRelief despite supposedly being a trained secret agent. ** The Spinosaurus in [[Film/JurassicParkIII the third film]] is this because of its status as overpowered. When your EstablishingCharacterMoment is killing a T. rex (easily one of the most popular dinosaurs of all time, not just the film series), you're going to be drawing a lot of hate. It's telling that [[AllThereInTheManual promotional materials]] for Film/JurassicWorld had to retcon it as the result of experiments to give dinosaurs feathers, and it may have been a forerunner to the Indominus Rex, but in the end the damage was done, as Spinosaurus only appears as a skeleton in that film smashed by the ''Tyrannosaurus rex'', and specimens hidden on Isla Nublar are confirmed to have gone extinct in promotional materials for [[Film/JurassicWorldFallenKingdom Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom]].

** Franklin from ''Film/JurassicWorldFallenKingdom'' gets a lot of hate for being a walking nerd stereotype who does nothing but complain, whine, and even scream during 90% of his screen time, as well as for being comic relief in a movie that honestly didn't need any. The fact that he does nothing of importance other than take out Wu, which could be just as easily accomplished if Zia had released Blue a few seconds earlier, doesn't do him any favors. Granted, Zia was handcuffed by Wu to Blue's cage at the moment, meaning any wrong movement could have resulted in her undoing.

** Fortunately, her reception was warmed somewhat in [[''Film/SonicTheHedgehog2'' the sequel]], as she took a level in both [[TookALevelInKindness kindness]] and [[TookALevelInBadass badass]], the latter specifically [[spoiler:as she helped Maddie rescue Sonic and Tom from the anti-villainous G.U.N.]] However, she is now more of a BaseBreakingCharacter because of it, as many would argue that the subplot that contained said scene (a wedding between her and her fiance Randall) lasted way longer than it has any right to be as it has no relevance to the greater story as a whole.

* While the character Rachel may be viewed as a HateSink in ''Film/SonicTheHedgehog'', many would feel she is best suited here in ''Film/SonicTheHedgehog2'' as there is an entire scene completely devoted to her and her fiance Randall, in which many would argue lasted way longer than it has any right to be as it has no relevance to the greater story as a whole.

A combination of ObnoxiousInLaws and the worst aspects of the SassyBlackWoman trope, Rachel is disliked for disliking Tom for [[IrrationalHatred no apparent reason]], wanting her sister Maddie to divorce him even before he became a fugitive. Not helping matters is the fact that both Maddie and Rachel are black and Tom is white, suggesting that she may be viewed racist. [[spoiler:Ultimately, she is left tied to a chair back in her house while Maddie goes with Tom to help Sonic.]]

* Ruby Rhod from ''Film/TheFifthElement''. He's supposed to be the comic relief, but the only thing he does is scream like a little girl and complain about everything in a grating, high-pitched voice, and while no one would call the rest of the movie a masterpiece of characterization, Ruby Rhod has ''zero'' depth to his character beyond being "[[EthnicScrappy humorously effeminate]] [[UncleTomfoolery black guy]]." Not only that, he is ''[[TheLoad completely useless]]'' and does nothing to help the plot or the other characters. This seems to be the point of the character, as protagonist Korben Dallas is frequently grimacing around Ruby and clearly dislikes him.

Aside from receiving poor comparisons to the much better received Ovi from the [[Film/{{Extraction}} the first film]], Sandro is utterly hated for acting like an UngratefulBastard towards his rescuers and blindly idolizing his father (who displays much evidence that he doesn't reciprocate the feelings at all). Decided here that Killian doesn't truly fit the trope.

** Aldrich Killian from ''Film/IronMan3'' is one of the most hated characters, let alone villains, in the entire MCU. Not only is he a boring and derivative villain with an incredibly weak motivation (with complaints that he was just another rehash of the "evil tech CEO" villains from the previous two Iron Man movies), but he also infamously [[spoiler:stole the film's BigBad role from the eagerly anticipated Mandarin (who is Iron Man's arch-nemesis in the comics) and added nothing meaningful whatsoever to Tony's story or character growth, especially since in the comics his only role was to commit suicide before ever making a physical appearance, and never being mentioned again after that arc. Even people who liked the plot twist felt that he was a rather underwhelming villain.]]

** The incarnation of Taskmaster from ''Film/BlackWidow2021'' has very few fans, largely due to [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks the massive deviations in almost every respect]] from the comic book character, one of the more popular Marvel villains at that, to the point that it's widely considered InNameOnly (and even then, the civilian name has also been changed). What really makes it bad is not just the changes, but the fact Taskmaster is reduced to a mind-controlled, voiceless {{mook}} with no personality to speak of that might have made the changes tolerable.

Added a mention of Dr. Holloway from Prometheus, since he A) fits the bill for the trope itself; and B) the YMMV page for Prometheus cites him as this trope (for valid reasons) but doesn't list him here.

Added DiffLines:

* Charlie Holloway from ''Film/{{Prometheus}}'' is a douche of a scientist who makes several immature and asinine decisions during the expedition, as well as having a very nasty attitude towards David (purely because the latter is a synthetic) and taking advantage of his wife's grief over her infertility for the sake of convincing her to have sex with him.

Denethor is not only an intentiomal Hate Sink, but there are people who legit like Peter Jackson's version of the character. So he is not The Scrappy.

* ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings''
** Denethor, the {{Jerkass}} Steward of Gondor, from ''[[Film/TheLordOfTheRingsTheReturnOfTheKing The Return of the King]]'', gets a lot of hate, and to top that, thanks to {{Flanderization}}, he's viewed in the film only as an unlikable crazy jerk, instead of a sympathetic, complex, Shakespearean AntiVillain.
** Alfrid in ''Film/TheHobbit'' prequel trilogy. While he was tolerable in the [[Film/TheHobbitTheDesolationOfSmaug second film]] where he didn't overstay his welcome, he's almost unbearable in the [[Film/TheHobbitTheBattleOfTheFiveArmies third]] due to a combination of being incredibly unlikeable even for a HateSink, a CanonForeigner in a script already stuffed with them, a comic relief character whose gag of AesopAmnesia wears thin very quickly, lacking any plot-relevance to an already badly padded story, and [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse his storyline not actually concluding in the theatrical film]] (leaving him a KarmaHoudini). On top of that, he's a SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute to his boss in the prior film, who was at least based on a canon character and played by Creator/StephenFry. Even fans of the film despise him, as his role of comic relief was filled better by the dwarves in prior films, who are largely DemotedToExtra in ''Five Armies'' in favor of him (a decision believed to be the result of ExecutiveMeddling and near-universally seen as a poor one). It's rumored that audiences ''applauded'' during a screening of the Extended Edition, which added a scene where Alfrid [[KarmaHoudiniWarranty dies horribly]] (and [[UndignifiedDeath hilariously]]).
