** The moments leading up to Lolo breaking down into Klonoa's arms is heartwrenching to watch. When she realizes he isn't from his world, she tries to keep her composure and not be sad that he's leaving. However remembering Klonoa's promise to never forget sorrow and sadness, tears start falling down her face while still smiling. She then asks him if it's okay to cry now which leads to her openly weeping loudly as she's hugging him. Lolo is then frantically shouting for him to not leave.

*** The Wii remake was able to make this ending even less optimistic. The [=PS1=] version shows Huepow smiling after Klonoa is sucked into the portal, signifying either that he knows that Klonoa will be alright or that they'll meet again somedayIndeed, they do meet again in Empire of Dreams and Dream Traveller of Noctis Sol. In the remake, there's no optimism in Hewpoe's face; he just sobs and looks into the distance as the screen fades to black. According to a behind the scenes online post by Hideo Yoshizawa, storyboards for the ending of the original [=PS1=] version never showed Huepow smiling, but some of the developers decided to make him smile, making the Wii remake more faithful to original idea.

* Despite being a handheld spin-off, Klonoa Heroes can still get pretty emotional at times.
** The scene after Janga poisons Klonoa can actually get pretty heartrending when one thinks about it, as he's poisoned in front of Guntz (who already had to watch his father die from it), and Pango (who now has to watch someone else close to him fall into a coma, the first being his son). No wonder they set aside stopping Garlen to ensure that Klonoa survives.
** Then there's the NightmareSequence Klonoa has while under the poison's effects. It begins, as he describes through narration, with him falling through a dark void while hearing a voice call to him, unsure if its coming closer or fading further away. Eventually, he finds himself back in his hometown of Breezegale on a relaxing fishing trip with his friends, before being asked why he's so obsessed with being a hero. A mysterious voice, the voice of Nahatomb, suggests answers to him - the same answers he gave the High Priestess upon receiving his hero medal - but he chillingly realizes that none of them apply to him, and he never really formed his own honest answer. Cue HeroicBSOD as his friends continue to ask him that question and/or accuse him of only pretending to be a hero. It's only after some outside encouragement from Guntz and Pango that he's able to confidently find his own reason for being a hero, and wake up from his coma in the process.

** Just to clarify why: Klonoa discovers [[TomatoInTheMirror the world he lived in was a fake. He belongs in a different Phantomile which he will be forced to go back to once Lephise sings her song.
