* Yuki's backstory in episode 17. Her mother, a waitress at a nearby hotel, abandoned her at the inn. In the original, it is stated that she waited every day for her mother to return by the lake until one day she fell in and died. Even the dub notes how sad this is, and although they poke fun at Yuki (she consistently insists that she was popular, even though it's clear she was super lonely), she does say that she waited and waited for help but no one came. From her perspective, no one cared about her, even as she was dying. Her motivation ultimately was trying to have a friend in the afterlife...by killing one of the living. Hajime notes in the original that this unjustified, but nonetheless very tragic. The gang paying their respects for the dead girl (who is their age) is implied to have finally put her to spiritual peace (since at last someone cared about her) and a light snow falls upon them.
