* [[spoiler: Church]] is so distraught over [[spoiler: Ardyn's]] death that he, in his grief-stricken fury, [[spoiler: tells Choromatsu to kill himself the same way he killed Ardyn. Choromatsu complies, because he was contemplating killing himself ever since he murdered Ardyn, who had done his best to serve as an emotional rock for the other Champions, and even thinks that he should have done it sooner, only held back by his fear of DyingAlone. His last moments are spent pleading assurance from the survivors that they'll make it through to the end before the last of the medicine works its way through his system.]]

* Arianna was a [[HopeBringer consistently bright spot]] in round 2... and this round seems intent on [[TraumaCongaLine making sure]] that [[BreakTheCutie won't happen again]]. As early as week two she breaks hearts by [[spoiler:sitting next to Yuuri's body and holding her hand]], then there's her disastrous attempt to hold a meeting, then [[spoiler:Varric kills Togami]] out of distrust when she's blaming herself for not being able to get the Champions from different rounds to trust each other. Then she starts to show signs of improving... [[HopeSpot right at the beginning of the Week of Terror]], which ends with [[spoiler:Clarith dying in front of her despite frantic use of her order skills]], the culprit turning out to be someone she trusted, and the afterparty replaced by a chaotic WhamEpisode where no one has time to comfort her. [[FromBadToWorse After that]] comes some of the most horrifying motives yet, an even greater emphasis on [[FishOutOfTemporalWater technology she doesn't understand]], and two cases in a row where [[spoiler:both victim and culprit are her remaining close CR from round 2]]. By the end, threads featuring what was once the most unfailingly optimistic character in the game sometimes [[ContentWarnings warn]] for [[DrivenToSuicide suicide ideation]].

* The responses to the first ''real'' motive of the round are pretty upsetting, considering it's a hostage motive...and a lot of the hostages are in later season to begin with.

* The fact that most of the murders were sympathetic and usually unintentional, the Champions become GenreSavvy enough to try to prevent them to the point that rules had to be put down to keep that from becoming a GameBreaker, and the cast has endgame-level solidarity and hope ''halfway through the game'' -- and they keep on dying anyway.

* During the power swap motive, Ardyn loses [[spoiler: the [[HatePlague Starscourge]] and turns human, becoming the AllLovingHero he originally was. The tearjerking part is that [[ForegoneConclusion he knows it can't last]] and he'll turn back into a CompleteMonster. ]]
