** Arvel Crynyd ([[RammingAlwaysWorks the doomed A-Wing pilot]]) in ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi''. Definitely a DyingMomentOfAwesome, since in crashing he kills not only himself but Admiral Piett (the film's fourth-ranked villain, or maybe fifth if you count Jabba the Hutt) and his entire crew, deals a mortal blow to Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer ''Executor'', and sends the ship crashing into the second Death Star, doubtlessly annihilating more than a few stormtroopers.

* In ''Film/EdgeOfTomorrow'' the protagonist, William Cage, observes a soldier strapping a Claymore to his chest while suiting up for battle, presumably to do just this if necessary. The soldier dies without getting the chance, but Cage is able to grab the Claymore and does it himself just as he is charged by one of the aliens. His success gets him 'infected' with the alien's time-resetting power. The Claymore then reappears in the final battle, on the same soldier. This time he successfully uses it to stop a charging wave of aliens.

* ''Film/{{Dave}}'' has a non-violent version, with the eponymous Dave who has been [[CelebrityImpersonator pretending to be US President Mitchell]] after the real Mitchell had a debilitating stroke firing Mitchell's Chief of Staff Bob Alexander after Dave starts doing things Bob hadn't intended him to do. Bob then brings to the press evidence that Mitchell was involved in a savings and loan scheme to push for Congress to impeach "Mitchell"; combined with an angling to get Vice President Nance declared mentally unfit for office, and it's clear Alexander is attempting to run for President himself. Dave, as President Mitchell, responds by calling a joint session of Congress where he admits to Mitchell's involvement but at the same time implicates Bob in the same scheme so that he can't run for President either, while also absolving Nance of any involvement before faking a stroke and leaving the Oval Office to Nance.
