Einar has this as his hat, as the majority of units released for that faction are historical human soldiers.

* BigCreepyCrawlies: Sutoja was already described as a large wasp in flavor text, but then he drank from a Wellspring alongside his master Aquila and grew to the size of a dragon.

* EatenAlive: Grimnak's special attack allows him to try and eat a nearby infantry unit instead of making a normal attack. It's harder to pull off against heroes than {{mooks}}, but it's an instant kill when it connects.

Now, there is a backstory concerning [[UltimateShowdownOfUltimateDestiny all the greatest warriors in the universe]] going to [[Myth/NorseMythology Valhalla]] to fight in an epic war to decide the fate of the cosmos. Frankly, though, none of that is terribly interesting and [[ExcusePlot you'd be hard-pressed to find a fan who actually cares.]] What it comes down to is this: gladiators, [[WolfMan wolf men]], [[OurDragonsAreDifferent dragons]], [[OurElvesAreDifferent elves]], vikings, valkyries, samurai, ninjas, [[OurZombiesAreDifferent zombies]], robots, [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot Ninja Pirate Zombie Robots]], (no pirates though, sadly), [[OurOrcsAreDifferent orcs]], knights, BeePeople, jotuns, trolls, ghosts, cowboys, [[MarvelUniverse Marvel-brand superheroes]], and ''TabletopGame/DungeonsAndDragons'' characters are all duking it out on one battlefield.

* GameMod: Due to the game being long abandoned by its parent company, the community has long since taken up the slack and created a lot of fan expansions for the game over the years. Commonly this includes new stage set pieces and the like, such as crystal spires or new terrain, but new units aren't unheard of. [[https://www.etsy.com/market/heroscape Etsy, in particular]], has a large collection of new homebrewed physical additions to the game.

* SwordAndGun: Agent Carr and the second version of Sgt. Drake Alexander both carry pistols alongside their BFS and [[KAtanasAreJustBetter katana]] respectively. It's a weaker attack than the sword, but handy in a pinch to get some damage in before closing to melee.
