** Invoked in "Lost and Bound" when Phoebe attempts to use [[HeirloomEngagementRing her late Grandmother's wedding ring]] as her engagement ring now that she's accepted Cole's proposal. It turns out that Grams placed a curse on the ring after multiple failed marriages that left her with a [[StrawFeminist dim view of men]]. Anyone who tries to wear the ring gets turned into a stereotypical 1950's housewife who is completely subservient to her husband. Phoebe ignores the plot of the week in favor of cooking meals for Cole (which she normally doesn't do) until Paige removes the ring and breaks the curse.

* Because ''Series/AgentCarter'' is set in the 40s most of Peggy's coworkers have this attitude towards her.
* ''Series/BurkesLaw'': In "Who Killed the Toymaker," the victim's affection for his wife (the model for a toy line) plummeted when she got an MBA and went to work at his company.

*** ''Series/KamenRiderDecade'''s second movie, where [[spoiler:Kamen Rider Kiva-la]] actually ''survived'' the movie she was featured in.
*** ''[[Series/KamenRiderKiva Kiva]]'' has two women who temporarily use Rider powers; one dies off-camera, apparently nothing to do with being a Rider, while the other (her daughter) survives the whole series. ''[[Series/KamenRiderHibiki Hibiki]]'' had a female villain who made it most of the way through the series.
*** ''[[Series/KamenRiderFaiz Faiz]]'' had a few girls use Rider powers, some of whom survived the show, but ''Faiz'' [[AnyoneCanDie just liked killing people regardless of gender]].

** However, the franchise is quite ''notorious'' for this, really, because, well... read the above. Before ''Decade,'' all female Riders indeed die, unless you want to extend "female Rider" to mean "borrowed someone's suit for a matter of seconds." This has let up in recent years, though, where [[spoiler:''Series/KamenRiderFourze'''s movie Rider is revealed to survive after she sure ''appeared'' to suffer the standard girl movie Rider death]], and ''Series/KamenRiderDecade'' not only gave us Kamen Rider Kivala but also gave its alternate versions of several such ''past'' characters happier endings. (It's joked that Kivala gets to survive because of an earlier LifeEnergy-draining incident; death is still obligatory but hers ''has already happened!'' This leaves her in the clear.) We're still waiting for the ''first'' woman to have Rider powers, keep them long-term, and survive.
** After 40 years it's happened once: ''Wizard'' lets Kamen Rider Mage keep her powers and her life, though her suit becomes the one ''everyone'' has in TheMovie's alternate world where everyone can use magic. [[spoiler:Though, at the end of the series she ''also'' gets to take up the Wizard name after Haruto leaves to begin WalkingTheEarth.]]

*** After 40 years, we finally got
the ''first'' woman to have their own Rider powers, keep them long-term, powers and survive.
** After 40 years it's happened once: ''Wizard''
survive: ''Series/KamenRiderWizard'' lets Kamen Rider Mage keep her powers and her life, though she arrives too late in the series to have much of an impact and her suit becomes the one ''everyone'' has in TheMovie's alternate world where everyone can use magic. [[spoiler:Though, at the end of the series she ''also'' gets to take up the Wizard name after Haruto leaves to begin WalkingTheEarth.]]]]
*** ''Wizard'' was followed by ''Series/KamenRiderGaim'', who had the first ''long-term'' female Rider in Kamen Rider Marika; as she was a professional spy and expert fighter (played by an actual stuntwoman, no less) who gained her powers relatively early in the show and kept them for the duration. She was killed at the end, but ''Gaim''[='s=] death toll [[AnyoneCanDie is like that in]] ''555'', so that can't really be held against her.
*** Then again, ''Gaim'' was followed by ''Series/KamenRiderDrive'', which falls back into old stereotypes as Kiriko is Drive's HypercompetentSidekick but relegated to being his support. She's a policewoman and fights as well as she can in that capacity, but she's not a Rider. It's even shown that she was considered as a candidate to become Drive herself, but [[{{Handwave}} apparently most people, including her, just aren't compatible with the tech]].
** The attitude is finally averted in the Reiwa era in the 2020s, as there's now a more of a concerted effort to have at least one major female Rider in the cast each year.

** ''Series/KamenRiderDragonKnight'' turns this on its head. It took ''Ryuki's'' Kamen Rider Femme (the usual: appears in a non-canon movie, gets killed) and used her footage (and a whole mess of new footage) to make Kamen Rider Siren. As one of the original Ventaran Riders, she's a soldier and not someone who FellIntoTheCockpit, so she's Kamen Rider Wing Knight's equal in being badass. The duo becomes a PowerTrio. When Kase ''is'' taken out, the Siren powers are borrowed by ''Maya'', which is incredible if you're familiar with the franchise.[[note]]Every Rider series has a female friend of the Rider(s) who is in the know. You will want her to get a suit. Don't bet on it happening. When you hear the term "Kamen Rider heroine," ''this'' character is what is actually meant. Seeing such a character step up to hero level is groundbreaking... and maybe it's no accident that Kivala wasn't far behind, though they played it safe and let her get powers only halfway through the GrandFinale movie.[[/note]] Eventually, ''Kase gets better'' and Maya decides superheroing is more Kase's thing than her own. Two female Riders for the price of one, both effective, both with happy endings.

* ''Series/StrongMedicine''. Dr. Andy Campbell, an Army surgeon, attends a recruiting event and is dismayed to see that the male officer has this attitude towards every female interested in joining. When he displays the same attitude towards ''her'', she angrily reminds him that he's not only speaking a fellow officer, he's speaking to a ''superior'' and tells him to shut up.

* ''Series/TheWalkingDead'': In the first two seasons, the female survivors of the group mostly kept to the house making while the male survivors did pretty much all the fighting walkers. This wasn’t quite an intentional decision by the survivors, but it did not go unnoticed that LazyBum Ed Peletier got to lounge in a chair ostensibly to keep watch while the women washed clothes in a pond. In Season 2, when the female survivors began training with firearms to learn how to fight, Lori actually expressed distaste with this, to Andrea’s shock. Lori opined that the women of the camp should be focused on mundane housework to make everyone’s lives, especially the men who were out and about fighting, easier. It's implied Lori only wanted to enforce this on the women because she valued mundane chores over having to risk the lives of herself and her loved ones on a daily basis. The option is taken away from her as by Season 3, all survivors regardless of gender are fighting together, and this trope never comes into play again.
