* In WesternAnimation/AllCreaturesBigAndSmall, the griffins build an unstable stone bridge in hopes that Finny and his gang will walk over it and fall, allowing the griffins to catch them for their dinner. When the stone bridge does fall apart, the stones end up falling on one of the griffins in the same style as VideoGame/Tetris blocks. When the stones form a horizontal line, it disappears, just like in Tetris. There's even a knockoff version of the game's iconic theme that plays during this scene!

* In Film/Maverick, Maverick (played by Creator/MelGibson) rides a bicycle belonging to his friend Chief Joseph, who explains that he won it in a card game. This is a reference to another Western movie, Film/ButchCassidyAndTheSundanceKid. In that movie, Butch Cassidy owns (and rides) a bicycle, and is a rotten gambler - so Chief Joseph won his bicycle from Butch!
** Furthermore, Maverick is at one point robbed in a bank. Halfway through, he pulls the bandit's mask down to reveal Danny Glover, Gibson's co-star in the Film/LethalWeapon series. They look at each other as though in recognition, but then shake their heads saying, "Naaah..." As Glover exits the bank, he murmurs, "I'm getting too old for this shit!"
*** And, the guitar track at that moment becomes SimilarSong like the Film/LethalWeapon theme.

** Zane Cooper's name combines Zane Grey, famous author of Western novels, with Creator/GaryCooper, famous actor in Western films.
** Danny Glover plays a bank robber who mutters "I am too old for this...". The scene is a CastingGag played as ActorAllusion; Mel Gibson, Glover's buddy cop in that franchise, recognises the voice of the bank robber and pulls down his mask, leading the two of them to share a moment (complete with Lethal Weapon musical leitmotif). They look at each other as though in recognition, but then shake their heads saying, "Naaah..." before shaking their heads and walking away. As Glover exits the bank, he murmurs, "I'm getting too old for this shit!" And, the guitar track at that moment becomes SimilarSong like the Film/LethalWeapon theme.

*** There are a lot of similarities between the younger Xavier and Will Graham from Series/Hannibal. Will's "pure empathy" is not unlike Charles' mind-reading power (and since Will's brain contains an abnormally high number of mirror neurons, this would make him a genetic mutant), their BlessedWithSuck "gift" can cause them a tremendous amount of agony, and they're both tormented by a love-hate relationship with a violent man of equal intelligence who has physically harmed them (Lecter for Graham, Magneto for Xavier). As a bonus, Hugh Dancy looks somewhat like Creator/JamesMcAvoy (both actors are brown-and-wavy-haired, blue-eyed and possess PrettyBoy-like features), so after Series/Hannibals debut, Dancy became a very popular fan casting choice for Brian Xavier should the Film/XMen film series ever decide to show Charles' father in a flashback.

* WesternAnimation/TheBossBaby:
** In the second trailer, Boss Baby says that talking candlesticks will be included if the audience wants them.
** Boss Baby pulls out a Voltron action figure. In fact, Dreamworks now owns the Voltron franchise owner Classic Media and currently produces the critically-acclaimed reboot WesternAnimation/VoltronLegendaryDefender.
** Tim's alarm clock resembles Gandalf and even says "...HE SHALL NOT PAAAASS!" and "Fly, you fools!"
** The scene with Puppy Co.'s "top secret" plans is a riff of the opening scene from Film/RaidersOfTheLostArk, while the trap itself is one big replica of the Mouse Trap board game.
** Upon spotting a crowd of Elvis impersonators at the airport, Tim exclaims "Elvis is everywhere!"
** The line "Cookies are for closers!" spoofs one of Alec Baldwin's best known lines from Film/GlengarryGlenRoss.
** At one point, Boss Baby reads a WesternAnimation/MrMagoo comic book, another Classic Media property.
** Tim's fantasies are done in a style mimicking Maurice Noble's designs for Creator/ChuckJones' Ralph Phillips cartoons (who, like Tim, is a MrImagination). Some scenes, like Tim fighting a shark or being in a prison cell when grounded, are direct homages.
** Francis' GiantMook disguises himself as Film/MaryPoppins when masquerading as a nanny. Francis even says he's "practically perfect in every way." The Boss Baby later refers to him as "Scary Poppins."
** The movie was released in Brazil under the name O Poderoso Chefinho ("The Powerful Little Boss", in Portuguese), a shout-out to TheGodfather, which is known there as O Poderoso Chefão ("The Powerful Big Boss").
** When Tim tells the Boss Baby that he's stolen everything he loves, even the special song, "Blackbird," that his parents wrote for him, Boss baby wisecracks "Your parents are Lennon and McCartney?" Later, when it's revealed that , Tim asks "Whoa... he is him? And him is you?" possibly a reference to the opening of "I Am the Walrus" - "I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together."
