Taran said the same thing, though less kindly, to Gurgi because of his obsession with taking the apple Taran has.
* ''Disney/AladdinAndTheKingOfThieves'' had a RunningGag of Genie transforming into several other Disney characters, including [[Disney/AliceInWonderland the White Rabbit]], Disney/{{Pocahontas}}, [[Disney/TheLionKing Pumbaa]], and WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse. In addition, while he's helping Jasmine pick a dress, one of the dresses is Snow White's, and several other princesses' and [[Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit Jessica Rabbit's]] dresses all appear on cardboard photo-stand style cutouts.
* In ''Film/AlexanderAndTheTerribleHorribleNoGoodVeryBadDay'', Celia's teacher calls Anthony "Disney/WreckItRalph" after he accidentally knocks over the school's trophy cases.
* In ''WesternAnimation/AllCreaturesBigAndSmall'', the griffins build an unstable stone bridge in hopes that Finny and his gang will walk over it and fall, allowing the griffins to catch them for their dinner. When the stone bridge does fall apart, the stones end up falling on one of the griffins in the same style as ''VideoGame/{{Tetris}}'' blocks. When the stones form a horizontal line, it disappears, just like in ''Tetris''. There's even a [[SuspiciouslySimilarSong knockoff version of the game's iconic theme]] that plays during this scene!
* In ''Always'', Pete's affectionate nickname for Dorinda is "Film/FunnyFace", a shoutout to the Creator/AudreyHepburn-starring film of the same name. Crosses over with ActorAllusion as Hepburn also appeared in ''Always'', in what would become her last film role.
* In ''Film/{{Anchorman|TheLegendOfRonBurgundy}}'', when Ron Burgundy is playing jazz flute, near the end he plays the riff from Music/JethroTull's ''[[Music/AqualungJethroTullAlbum Aqualung]] and then shouts, "Hey, Aqualung!" [[note]]In reality, there are no flutes played on "Aqualung".[[/note]]

** The Corto Maltese War, mentioned here as being Vicki's last big photography project, is the name of the conflict Superman puts an end to in Frank Miller's ''The Dark Knight Returns'' (which was, in turn, a shout out to the ''Comicbook/CortoMaltese'' comic book).
** The Joker's "ImMelting" from ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' after Vicki Vale throws water on him.
** In addition to the general architecture of Gotham, the ClimbingClimax bears a striking resemblance to the cathedral fight in ''Film/{{Metropolis}}''.
** The ClimbingClimax with the shots of the stairwell looking downward as well as elements of first scene strongly resemble ''Film/{{Vertigo}}''.

** A more subtle (if that's the word) Kubrick homage in the same scene has a gang dressed in foppish attire. One of them has an eye patch and powdered wig like the Chevalier in ''Film/BarryLyndon''.
** The scene of Ivy debuting at the charity ball, first by hiding among the performers in an ape costume and slowly taking it off seemed to have been a homage to Creator/MarleneDietrich in ''Blonde Venus'' where she performs a musical number entitled "Hot Voodoo", which starts off with her in an ape costume.
** Alfred channels Series/MaxHeadroom when addressing Barbara in the Batcave.
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanMaskOfThePhantasm'':
** Bruce taking out a motorcyclist on foot is a direct reference to ''Manga/{{Akira}}''.
** When Batman is washed down the sewer near the end of the movie, the sequence of shots is the same as Lupin being washed down an aqueduct in ''Anime/TheCastleOfCagliostro''.
** Batman's escape from the police through a construction zone is similar to a scene with a condemned building in ''ComicBook/BatmanYearOne''. Per WordOfGod, it was lifted from the similar scene in ''Film/RoboCop1987''.
** Joker tries to escape on a jet pack similar to the one James Bond used in the beginning of ''Film/{{Thunderball}}''
** The end scene is almost identical to that of the 1989 ''Film/{{Batman|1989}}'': Batman standing on a rooftop, looking at the Bat-signal. It's just that both are never fully in frame at one time.
** Alfred's line about vengeance is very similar to Creator/FriedrichNietzsche's quote about [[HeWhoFightsMonsters becoming that which you fight against]].
** The lyrics of the chorus singing the Batman theme are the production crew backward. It's elaborated on in OminousLatinChanting.

** The original ComicBook/{{Batwoman}}, Kathy Kane, is referenced by the identity of one of the women potentially behind the mask: Kathy Duquesne.

** Earle comments, "Bruce? [[Film/EscapeFromNewYork You're supposed to be dead.]]"

** The Joker's goons don clown masks during the opening scene as a reference to Stanley Kubrick's heist film ''Film/TheKilling''. Joker's mask is also the same as the one the character uses in ''The Joker's Wild'', his very first appearance in the 60's series. It and the other somber clown masks, all worn by the Joker's thugs with otherwise normal street clothes, invoke the image his henchman from the [[WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries Animated Series]] episode ''The Last Laugh''.
** Film/TheShawshankRedemption: The detonator found on the prisoners' ship is concealed in a box resembling a [[spoiler:book]].
** Naturally, since Nolan is a card-carrying [[Franchise/JamesBond Bond]] fan, the blade at the tip of the Joker's shoe is ''Film/FromRussiaWithLove''. The film also makes use of an ActionPrologue, just like the ''Bond'' films.
** Kind of a weird one, but the Bat-Cycle emerges from the Batmobile.... "Batmobile lost a wheel". And then after that, "Joker got away."
** The Joker's clown mask in the bank robbery at the start of the film is very similar to the clown mask worn by Creator/CesarRomero in the Joker's [[http://i.imgur.com/WIsyBbU.jpg first appearance]].
* ''Film/TheDarkKnightRises'':
** Gordon reads the ending of ''Literature/ATaleOfTwoCities.'' Bane's Gotham Revolution mirrors that of the French Revolution as depicted in the novel. Bane's second-in-command is John Barsad, and there is a CorruptCorporateExecutive named Phillip Stryver, both named after characters from that book.
** Also, Wayne Enterprises's people hide in '''Tellson's Bank''', according to the script.
** Bane knitting in the courtroom is probably a nod to Madame Defarge and the "knitting ladies", and "The fire rises", which he says to the henchman on the plane that he orders to stay behind and die, is the name of a chapter in it as well.
** The speculations by the maids about Bruce Wayne's mental health at the start of the film call to mind Howard Hughes, especially the bit where Daggett comments how he must be growing out his fingernails and peeing in mason jars in the isolation of his private wing.
** Bruce discovering [[spoiler: Miranda/Talia's]] betrayal at the moment [[spoiler:she stabs him]] is [[Theatre/JuliusCaesar a couple thousand years old.]]
** While in his reclusive period, Bruce becomes a [[Comicbook/GreenArrow socially conscious billionaire with a Van Dyke goatee who takes up archery!]]
** Nolan's use of the Pittsburgh Steelers to guest-star as the Gotham Rogues, besides the practical fact that they were filming in Pittsburgh, is also a tribute to their Batman fandom. During the 1966 season, when the Creator/AdamWest [[Series/Batman1966 series]] was airing, the Steelers wore uniforms inspired by Batman.
** Three trucks are driven around by Bane's soldiers. One truck contains the nuclear device and two of the trucks are decoys. This is much like ''Film/TheItalianJob2003'', where the antagonist hires three armored cars to fool the main characters, with two of the armored cars being empty decoys and one carrying all of the gold loot (in that case, though, they were able to isolate the real truck from the decoys by using computer hacking to determine which one was weighed down).
** Catching a plane by lowering men on ropes to attach a cable to its tail is taken straight from the opening of the Bond movie ''Film/LicenceToKill''.
* In ''Film/BeautifulCreatures'', the cinema marquee that's always spelled wrong at one point says [[{{Film/Inception}} "Interception"]].
* A subtle but enormous example – Creator/PeterSellers was a huge fan of Laurel and Hardy, and the voice he used for Chance the gardener in ''Film/BeingThere'' is an Americanized version of Stan Laurel's; Laurel's work partially informed Sellers's physical approach to the role as well, since it was exactly what the [[Main/TheFool character]] required (the other part? A gardener who worked for Sellers in TheFifties).
* At one point in ''Film/BigEyes'', Walter speaks to a socialite named [[Film/DuckSoup Mrs. Teasdale]].
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Bionicle}} 3: Web of Shadows'' as a whole is a shout-out to the ''Franchise/StarWars'' films. Vakama's FaceHeelTurn is a reference to Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, complete with him ravaging the heroes' temple, the music playing during his duel with Matau deliberately mimics the score of Luke fighting with Darth Vader from ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi'', and the following scene, where Matau's forced to hang above a chasm with Vakama standing over him is a clear homage to the similar, iconic scene from ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'', only here, Vakama actually jumps after Matau to [[HeelFaceTurn save him]].
** According to the directors' commentary, the choppy CGI animation used for the villains in some scenes of the first movie, ''Mask of Light'', was a deliberate reference to Creator/RayHarryhausen's StopMotion works.
* ''Film/BirdBox'': Charlie tries to talk to Malorie about his novel. He mentions that in his version of TheEnd there are [[Film/TheHungerGames no kids with crossbows trying to kill each other]], [[Film/TheMazeRunnerSeries nor are they running around some giant maze to survive.]]
* ''Film/BlackSheep2007'', whose special effects are courtesy of WETA, whose leader is named Grant Major: Grant: [[Film/TheLordOfTheRings "This is mine, all mine! I mean, ours!"]]
** Some of the footage of maddened sheep herds charging over hilltops on the horizon look suspiciously similar to ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'' scenes of the Riders of Rohan.
** Which is probably because they used the same computer programme while creating it.
** By the way, this could also be meant to be a shout out to the wild gnu-herd in ''Disney/TheLionKing''.
** In addition, the name of the AnimalWrongsGroup in the film is a very similar sounding WEKA.
* ''Film/BladeRunner''
** The replicants are created by the Tyrell Corporation. This is a reference to the Tyrell Institute, which created the android robot Mr. R.I.N.G. in the ''Series/KolchakTheNightStalker'' episode "Mr. R.I.N.G.".
* ''Film/TheBlindSide'' was released in theaters on the same week as ''New Moon'', the sequel to ''Literature/{{Twilight}}''. Collins is watching ''Twilight'' on television when Leigh Anne brings Michael to the Tuohy's home for the first time.
* Creator/JeanClaudeVanDamme's debut vehicle ''Film/{{Bloodsport}}'' featured Bolo Yeung as the villain, and (almost?) all of Bolo's dialogue is borrowed from Creator/BruceLee's ''Film/EnterTheDragon'' (which Bolo was also in, although, hilariously, his only dialogue in ''that'' was to shout 'dah!' whenever anyone mentioned him...)
* When Creator/CarrieFisher's character shoots off a bazooka in ''Film/TheBluesBrothers'', the sound effect is (essentially) the same noise that blaster weapons make in the ''Franchise/StarWars'' films.

** The New York pigeons bear more than a passing resemblance to the Goodfeathers from ''WesternAnimation/{{Animaniacs}}'' (who were in turn a ShoutOut to ''Film/{{Goodfellas}}''). Also:

** Hmm, an AllCGICartoon movie in which a guy thinks he's a superhero, gets separated from his owner, gradually warms up to an annoyed naysayer companion, depressedly learns that said companion was right all along, and then gets reassured by the same companion that he's not so worthless. ** The massive Godzilla-species skeleton in the second trailer and the plot of an ancient monster going up against equally ancient winged creatures seems evocative of the Heisei ''Franchise/{{Gamera}}'' series.

** All the visual {{Shout Out}}s to ''Manga/KimbaTheWhiteLion'', including how Scar, Rafiki and Zazu are {{Exp|y}}ies of some of Kimba's cast with their own unique attributes. As Creator/{{Disney}} stubbornly states that they're mere coincidences, there's a very large segment of Kimba FanDumb that scream [[TheyCopiedItSoItSucks Lion King ripped off Kimba]], despite Kimba being more like a more idealistic ''Literature/AnimalFarm'' in the African jungle and having [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters greedy humans]] as a main antagonist, while The Lion King is ''Theatre/{{Hamlet}}'' with lions and completely lacks any human presence.

* ''Film/{{Batman}}'':

** To the [[Series/{{Batman}} 1960s TV series]] in the scene when Batman and Robin first land on Two-Face's and the Riddler's base.

** Nolan's use of the Pittsburgh Steelers to guest-star as the Gotham Rogues, besides the practical fact that they were filming in Pittsburgh, is also a tribute to their Batman fandom. During the 1966 season, when the Creator/AdamWest [[Series/{{Batman}} series]] was airing, the Steelers wore uniforms inspired by Batman.

** The toothpaste factory Mr. Bucket works for is called ''Smilex''; Wonka's throne is the same one used by [[Creator/JackNicholson The Joker]] during the [[Film/{{Batman}} parade scene]]. There's also a ribbon cutting with [[Film/EdwardScissorhands Johnny Depp holding a very large pair of scissors]].

** The movie ends with [[spoiler:Red Mist]] quoting ComicBook/TheJoker from Tim Burton's ''Film/{{Batman}}''. "Wait till they get a load of me."

** Hit Girl's nightvision rampage resembles ''VideoGame/ModernWarfare 2'''s multiplayer, where Hit-Girl's apparently using a H&K USP Compact with a tactical knife attachment. Which is what some criminals were playing earlier on in the film.

** When Kick-Ass dons his costume for the first time, this is accompanied by upbeat music resembling Music/JohnWilliams' Film/{{Superman}} march. Also, when Red Mist rides through the city in the Mist Mobile, the soundtrack heavily resembles the Batman theme from [[Film/{{Batman}} the Tim Burton movies]].

** ''Film/HalloweenH20TwentyYearsLater'' contains many references to the ''Franchise/{{Scream}}'' series, and includes some of the music from it.

* The ''Franchise/{{Scream}}'' films are laden with shoutouts from a wide range of {{Horror}} movies.

** There's also a nice shoutout to the Franchise/{{Fallout}} series, with the present year being 2077, the same as the Great War. Considering the vital part nukes take place in the back story, it's hardly a coincidence. Also, in the making-of features, we learn that the Scavs' base is called Raven Rock - the same as The Enclave's base in ''VideoGame/{{Fallout 3}}''.

** If you look closely, you can see a Who that bears resemblance to TheCatInTheHat, but he is yellow with a blue striped hat. He even lifts his hat up to reveal a smaller cat underneath.

* ''Film/ThePunisher2004'' has Frank Castle's wife and son killed by a truck full of hitmen running them down. The scene immediately following it in which a devastated Frank runs towards them screaming their names is almost identical to a scene in ''Film/MadMax''.
