* AdaptationalFriendship: Barry barely has any interactions with Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow in the comics, but the three are best friends in this series. Barry also has never interacted with Chester Runk in the comics - where Chester was a close friend of Wally West - but in the TV show he basically takes Cisco's place when Cisco leaves Star Labs, including becoming Barry's close friend. On the inverse, Chester barely knows Wally there, since Wally was no longer a regular in the show by that point.

* DownerEnding: "Out of Time" ends on a terrible note, with Cisco dead after Eobard Thawne catches him in his hidden chamber, while Mark Mardon is about to wipe out the city with a tsunami as the badly-injured Joe watches on in horror. The Flash's effort to counter the wave causes him to travel back through time in the end, with him SettingRightWhatOnceWentWrong in the next episode, but as a result he doesn't learn Thawne's true nature for several more episodes. To top it all off, the trauma from the tsunami causes Iris to profess her love for Barry, but when Barry tries to do the same after going back, she is repulsed and Eddie gets pissed at him.

Shoehorning a trope to insert a rant about how much everyone hates wokeness. We get it.

* PoliticalOverCorrectness: Season 9 goes out of its way to be diversively inclusive and include a wide umbrella of LGBTQIA+ guest starring characters - namely with Ryan Wilder (lesbian), Hartley Rathaway (gay), Nia Nal (transgender), and Jess Chambers (non-binary). This ends up mostly being self-indulgence for the showrunner Eric Wallace, as fans have pointed out the decision to include Ryan and Jess didn't make much sense, nor did Nia's episode in the season. Overall, Eric's decision to make the show more inclusive is questionable, as the show has excelled at it long before he joined, and his contribution in the final season only ended up giving it the negative stigma that its fellow shows Supergirl and Batwoman had for pushing inclusion too hard.

* HammyVillainSeriousHero: Barry Allen isn't as dark and stoic as most superheroes, but he's usually the straight man to his team's zaniness. But even Team Flash is no match for the zany unpredictability of Toymaster, who loves explosive ordinance and a hammy joke.

Applying Race Fetish to the showrunner is frankly disingenuous. You can disagree with putting Wilder in the last season, but calling it a Race Fetish is over the line. Deleting.

* RaceFetish: The main reason Ryan Wilder appears in Season 8 and 9, to the joy of Batwoman fans, but the dismay of the majority of the fans. Showrunner Eric Wallace stated in several interviews during season 8's Armageddon event and leading up to season 9 that he wanted Ryan in the show due to his desire to show Black pride, and also because Ryan and Iris's actresses, Javicia Leslie and Candice Patton, are friends in real life. However the execution is severely underdelivered, with Ryan's character being criticized for poor acting. As a result, it ends up being MindlessSelfIndulgence for Eric, especially as the show has had the West family the entire time.

After Joe and Barry try to gaslight her, Patty calls Barry with a fake emergency while on the train to see if and how quickly the Flash shows up. However, Kara soon realizes that technically he is not actually Superman, but rather a male version of herself, based on the scans that the AMAZO robot took of her. This is because she is from Earth-38, and the Book of Destiny that Deegan used to rewrite reality only contains information on things from Earth-1. Kara mocks him for being too scared to just go all the way and become her. The three different series and episodes are:

It is one of three live-action DC Comics shows to premiere in 2014, along with Creator/{{Fox}}'s ''Series/{{Gotham}}'' and Creator/{{NBC}}'s ''Series/{{Constantine|2014}}''; being on different networks, they are all independent of each other (though Constantine was absorbed into the Arrowverse, played by [[Creator/MattRyan the same actor]], after his show wasn't renewed). After four years, Shipp got to play as Barry Allen again when the 1990 Flash appeared in the ''Elseworlds'' crossover.

The show has aired eight seasons, and has been renewed for a ninth, making it not only the longest-running Arrowverse series, but also the longest show on The CW not inherited from other networks. On August 1, 2022, [[https://deadline.com/2022/08/the-flash-end-season-9-the-cw-final-episode-count-rgrant-gustin-1235082436/ it was confirmed]] that the ninth season will be the series' last. The ninth and final season premiered on February 8, 2023, and the series ended on May 24, 2023 after nine years and 184 episodes, becoming DC's second-longest running live-action series (behind ''{{Series/Smallville}}''). This also marked the end of adventures on the ''Arrowverse'''s Earth-Prime; with the subsequent cancellations of fellow ''Arrowverse'' shows ''Series/Titans2018'' (set on Earth-9), and ''Series/DoomPatrol2019'' (set on Earth-21), this left only ''Series/SupermanAndLois'' (set on an undesignated Earth), as the last remaining ''Arrowverse'' series left in production.

** Downplayed with the Season 7 finale as it is the only season to not end on a cliffhanger while Barry and Iris renew their wedding vows.
**
The Season 8 finale ended up being this as it was originally written as a series finale as it was expected that the show would end after eight seasons and troubles in the CW led to a renewal being uncertain. ** Like his comic counterpart, Cisco gradually develops powers like this that let him throw out sonic blasts, use something resembling psychometry that allows him to discern past events or track others, and [[ThinkingUpPortals open breaches]] that can warp the team to where they need to be or travel to other universes.
** A common technique used by evil speedsters is vibrating their hands into sharp blades. They can also vibrate themselves into an intangible state, allowing them to attack internal organs. [[spoiler: Barry also learns this trick and uses it to defeat Solovar, the ruler of Gorilla City, and break one of Savitar's spikes.]]
