* BittersweetEnding: The series ends with [[spoiler:John and the villagers leaving fame and responsibilities to resume a peaceful life in a village similar to the one where the story began, after clearing up their name and destroying the menace. But Mary and Doug have been killed and it's unclear how superheroes are viewed after the events of the season.]]

* CerebusSyndrome: Season 2 is noticeably more serious than 1. (Remember, this is from the family who brought us ''Series/{{Kaamelott}}'', whose name is [[Fr/EffetKaamelott used for the trope in the French version]].) It gets worse in season 3.

* DiedInYourArmsTonight: Parodied with [[spoiler:Cecil]] when TakingTheBullet for [[spoiler:his son Mique]]. After an DyingDeclarationOfLove, it turns out they were fine as they were wearing a bulletproof vest. The others are not amused.

* KilledOffForReal:
** [[spoiler:Allen]] off-screen between season 1 and 2
** [[spoiler:Mary and Doug]] at the end of season 5

* LivingLieDetector: Doug, who freeze solid whenever he hears a lie (or tells one). This has ruined his career as a lawyer (not that he seems to be smart enough to be one anyway). A RunningGag is that absolutely no-one notices or seem to make the connection when he freezes while a plot-relevant lie is spoken in front of him.

Added DiffLines:

* PutOnABus: Some characters disappear between seasons, with little to no explanation.
** [[spoiler:The Lord]] disappears after season 3, which can be a bit jarring since they featured heavily in the tie-in webseries.
** Megan and Jennifer only appear as a cameo in season 5, where they seem to have become actresses in a soap opera series.

* HealingHands: Mary, John's aunt, can heal people with a touch. Her former power is said to be able to bring people back to life, but it deteriorated.

''Hero Corp'' parodies the SuperHero genre, with many of the characters being [[OldSuperhero former heroes whose powers have fallen behind]] ([[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway if they were any good to begin with]]). Following a war in the '80s, the Hero Corp agency was created to maintain world peace. It has several secret sites over the planet, and specifically a rural village in the French departement of Lozère where aging heroes live a quiet, peaceful retirement. But a supervillain that everybody believed was dead, "The Lord", is threathening this village.

* DispelMagic: Mary's HealingHands power can also remove The Lord's mind-control influence from a victim, which comes quite handy.

Their bigotry is constantly portrayed as quite silly (and ironic, considering that for the outside world the villagers would look like a bunch of inbreed morons) and John fight it at every turn.

'''''Hero Corp''''' is a French comedic TV series, created and written by Simon Astier and Alban Lenoir and broadcasted on cable channel Comédie+ in 2008. It was produced by CALT, the same company as ''Series/{{Kaamelott}}'', and shares several of its actors as well as a similar humor. The series started out as with DramaticHalfHour episodes with an overreaching story rather than short gag episodes, however. With its season 3, it changes to a Shortcom format of 7-minute episodes (incidentally the inverse of ''Kaamelott'''s evolution).
