* TheNineties: The early seasons show very much how the 1990s carried a lot of run-off fashions of the late 1980s. Roz has very big, frizzy hair, and both her and Kate Costas (an early love interest of Frasier's who ''also'' had giant hair, to match an extremely dark tan) wore power-suits with shoulder pads. Eventually all of the characters would be fairly fashionable and less era-specific, save Martin. The show was set in Seattle, which was considered a fashionable city in that decade for several reasons (grunge, Starbucks, more than one computer business, etc.)

** As Grammer sings the closing theme, he throws in an interjection after the first line: "Mercy!", "Quite stylish!", or "Oh my!" He adds another one at the end: "Thank you!", "Good night!", "Good night, everybody!", "Good night, Seattle, we love you!", or "Frasier has left the building!" Sometimes he also throws in the line "Scrambled eggs all over my face! What is a boy to do?" Christmas episodes usually get "Happy Holidays Everyone!" at the end.

* HereWeGoAgain: During "Adventures in Paradise Part 2", Frasier winds up destroying an expensive hotel bed in a paranoia-fuelled attempt to show Lilith up. The episode ends with him back in the same hotel room with Niles, who insists he deal with a large insect in the room. The credits show Frasier desperately hunting it with a slipper, before moving on to the bed, attacking it the same way he did earlier.

Added DiffLines:

** In "Are You Being Served?" Niles, having just signed divorce papers, cracks a joke about Maris and starts laughing. Then, seconds later, he starts having a legitimate panic attack. More whiplash occurs when Frasier tries to reassure him by reading some old notes of their mothers, which kick-started Niles's decision in the first place, only to find it's talking about their mom's old ''lab rats'', who she'd named them after. Niles's hysterical panic attack only gets worse as he realizes he's just ended his marriage based on a misunderstanding.

Martin's deceptively intelligent Jack Russell terrier Eddie, Frasier's coworkers at KACL, and Niles's [[TheGhost unseen but outlandish]] wife Maris were the final touches to the core cast, which remained intact and unchanged throughout all eleven seasons of the show's run. Dan Butler, who played [[TestosteronePoisoning Testosterone Poisoned]] sports show host Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe, was listed in the opening credits for seasons 4 through 6, but was billed as a guest star for all other appearances.

* SiblingRivalry: Niles and Frasier, ''and HOW''. A major part of their dynamic is how competitive they are with each other. Any time one brother acquires or achieves something, the other has to try and top him. Any project they attempt together falls apart spectacularly due to their bickering, something Martin is usually quick to point out.
* SiblingTeam: Especially common in the earlier seasons, Frasier and Niles would often pool their knowledge and resources in a joint venture such as a restaurant or investment opportunity, that would then backfire [[HilarityEnsues with farcical results]]. They even wrote a series of crime novels as children, in the style of ''Literature/NancyDrew'' or ''Literature/TheHardyBoys''.
-->'''Roz:''' "... The Nancy Boys?"
* SiblingTriangle: The episode where Niles sleeps with Lilith.
* SiblingYinYang: Inverted - Frasier and Niles are ''very'' similiar. It's their ''dad'' they clash with.
* SideBet: Niles and Martin, after finding out Lilith's husband has left her... for a man.
* SignificantReferenceDate: The date of the pilot is subtly referenced throughout the series. For example, in the fifth season, Martin says he hasn't seen his brother in five years.
* SigningOffCatchPhrase: Frasier had a signature signoff at the end of his radio show: "Goodnight Seattle, and good mental health."
* ASimplePlan: That often backfires because Frasier and Niles build up hundreds of assumptions without resolving the entire issue by simply ''asking questions'' of the people involved.
** Daphne [[DefiedTrope defied that once or twice]] by directly asking the people in question when she realized what Frasier and Niles were going to do.
*** Also double subverted on occasion where Daphne would suggest this course of action to Frasier or Niles and be ridiculed and dismissed.

* SitcomArchNemesis: Cam Winston. They eventually sign a truce, which is [[SeriousBusiness less complex than peace treaties signed by some warring nations]].

They even wrote a series of crime novels as children, in the style of ''Literature/NancyDrew'' or ''Literature/TheHardyBoys''.

You can call the Cranes many things, but NEVER say Freddy will [[IvyLeagueForEveryone only go]] to a "State School."

** Some episodes have callers coming to Frasier about their personal rage-inducers and if they can get help. Naturally, Frasier manages to press them, such as interrupting a caller who hates being talked over by people to [[GrammarNazi talk about past tense]], inciting a half-a-minute rant about how the caller ''also really hates pendants like Frasier...''

* GrammarNazi: Frasier, who will interupt callers with pointless speeches on grammar that only make the callers ''more'' neurotic.

** Also with Martin's chair; as noted, it's a source of friction, especially as Frasier had a much classier chair in the same position that Martin refused to sit in. In the last episode, after Frasier has restored the original chair when Martin leaves, during Frasier's goodbye party Martin sits in the chair. He cheerfully notes that it's incredibly comfortable and he'd have been perfectly happy using it. The look on Frasier's face is somewhere between a desire to die and a desire to beat Martin to death with the chair.

* GuiltyPleasures: In "Daphne's Room," Frasier starts playing the usual classical music that he likes on the piano, and then, realizing that he has the place to himself, he gladly and enthusiastically plays and sings Music/JerryLeeLewis's "Great Balls of Fire."

* ToughRoom: Depends on the situation. If Frasier or Niles make a deliberately highbrow, inaccessible joke, they'll both laugh at it but be met with blank stares or frowns from everyone else. However, if they make a joke that's easily understood by the others (most often put-downs), the others can be seen to smile and laugh quite often.

* ActorAllusion:
** Niles mentions filling Frasier's floppy red shoes which could be a reference to his character [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Sideshow Bob]]. Guess who voices Bob's brother in several episodes? Yep -- it's a mirrored Actor Allusion. This could also be an allusion to an episode of ''Series/{{Cheers}}'' where Frasier suited up as a clown to entertain for a kid's birthday party Rebecca was in charge of putting together.
** The first episode to feature "Sideshow" Cecil Terwilliger was aptly named "[[Recap/TheSimpsonsS8E16BrotherFromAnotherSeries Brother From Another Series]]". In one bit, Bart has covered Cecil's eyes to surprise him, and pulls the standard "Guess who?" gag, to which Cecil replies, "[[TheUnseen Maris?]]"
** ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' blandly lampshades this with a Frasier-esque title card reading "Frasier is a Hit Show on the NBC Network." Taken even further in "[[Recap/TheSimpsonsS19E8FuneralForAFiend Funeral for a Fiend]]", which introduces Bob and Cecil's father Robert, played by... John Mahoney.
** Dr. Nora's mother is played by Piper Laurie, aka [[Film/{{Carrie}} Carrie's mother]].
--->'''Mrs. Mulherne:''' YOU LITTLE WHORE!
** Season 7's "A Tsar Is Born" has some plot familiarity: it features a [[WesternAnimation/{{Anastasia}} Romanov artifact]] stolen by the help.

* CastingGag:
** Notorious chauvinist "Bulldog" Briscoe played by real-life openly gay activist Dan Butler.
** Daphne's family and its multitude of inconsistent UsefulNotes/BritishAccents. Particularly on the part of the [[FakeBrit Australian Anthony LaPaglia playing Simon]], who loves Mel Gibson and who Frasier once refers to as a "[[TheThingThatWouldNotLeave boomerang]]."
** In one episode Frasier and Niles try to help a former Shakespearian actor Jackson Hedley revive his theatrical career by producing him in a one man version of ''Theatre/{{Hamlet}}'', but [[spoiler:they realize to their horror that he's actually a terrible actor, who does a laughably overwrought performance of the play... [[FranchiseOriginalSin and might have been just as terrible even when they thought he was good]]]]. The gag is that Hedley is played by Creator/DerekJacobi, an acclaimed Shakespearian actor, whose previous roles include Hamlet in Creator/TheBBC's ''Complete Dramatic Works of William Shakespeare'' series. If that weren't enough, Creator/PatrickMacnee, another experienced Shakespearean actor who became known for genre TV shows (''Series/TheAvengers'', ''Series/BattlestarGalactica1978''), plays Jackson's father.
** In the penultimate episode, "Crock Tales", Rosie Perez guest stars as Lizbeth. Perez was one of the original contenders for the role of Daphne.
** Niles' O.R. surgeon Dr. Shafer in "Rooms with a View" is played by Daniel Davis, who's best known for being ''another'' [[BreakoutCharacter Niles]] [[Series/TheNanny in a popular 1993 sitcom]].

** A season two episode has Sam and his fiance wind up in Seattle and confessing their adultery to each other (with her keeping secret that Frasier had slept with her as well without knowing about their relationship). After she admits that she slept with Paul and Cliff, Sam breaks off the engagement and storms out. Asking Frasier for help, he can merely question how he could sleep with a woman who slept with Cliff.

** Could describe a lot of Fras's situations over the years, but any situation where the Brothers Crane team up results in an even bigger fail, such as the time they try to run a restaurant together.
** Frasier's first show at KACL. We see the beginning of it in "You Can't Go Home Again", where Frasier manages to fall out of his chair just as his first guest starts explaining her problem. It's so bad Roz is trying to get another job elsewhere by the first ad break, and Frasier actually forgets the show's still on-air. Apparently the remainder of the hour is much worse...

* AerosolCanMisfire: * In episode "Momma Mia," Niles accuses Frasier of having an Oedipal attraction to Mia, his new girlfriend, because she's a dead ringer for his deceased mother. When Frasier gets frustrated and tries to put some bug spray on Niles, he accidentally sprays himself in the face as he was unknowingly holding it backwards, screaming "I blinded myself!" -- an allusion to the historical Oedipus.
