->''"The Hunters? Who in the Old World ''hasn't'' heard of the Hunters? And what in hell is the favor you and the Hunters both need?"''
-->-- '''Conall Blye'''

''[[http://www.ongoingworlds.com/games/3325 The Old World]]'' is a WebOriginal play-by-post RPG run by members [[http://www.ongoingworlds.com/members/3154 Niki Haruno]] and [[http://www.ongoingworlds.com/members/1484 Jochaum]]. The year is 2015 and AllMythsAreTrue. The main cast in fact consists of two druids, two mages, two immortal Hunters and a warlock.

''The Old World'' follows the story of how a small Organization known as the Circle of the Raven's Nest managed to get the Illuminati, the Hunters, the Syndikat, the [=MacTiernan=] clan, and the House of Life involved in a conflict that started as a feud between ''three people.'' The main cast of the story as far as can be told:

* Erin Thorne, an immortal druidess from Ireland
* Kaylara Eldsteen, an ancient and possibly the ''oldest'' immortal, Mistress of the Hunt and founder of the Hunters
* Ragnar Lothbrook, an immortal Dane
* Luke [=MacTiernan=], a warlock of the Irish [=MacTiernan=] warlock clan
* Thomas [=McAllister=], an American mage and Hunter
* Elenwen Grove, a British druidess and former student of Erin
* Cerulea Galva, a lightning mage from Lithuania

Other important characters:

* Callum Thorne, Erin's brother and another druid though he was killed by Círdan but it's okay because he's been reincarnated
* Cyril, a Greek demigod and son of Hermes who also happens to be Erin's husband. He's immortal in the sense that he only stays dead for like 60 seconds
* Myrine, an immortal Amazon warrior Queen, daughter of Ares and a nymph who currently instructs the 'young ones' (read: protagonists under the age of 40)
* Andrej Janků, a high-ranking member of the Syndikat who also happens to be the Jewish Prague golem
* Natsuko Kyubi, a kitsune who's adept at casting illusions
* Ivona Kalinova, the Mistress of Traitors and leader of the Syndikat spoiler: though she's killed off quite quickly before and after her resurrection
* Jeffrey [=MacTiernan=], Luke and Justine's father and leader of the [=MacTiernan=] clan
* Owen [=MacTiernan=], Luke and Justine's uncle and Jeffrey [=MacTiernan=]'s brother, also Jeffrey's right-hand man
* Conall Blye, magician on the Path of Set from the 12th Nome of Cornwall
* Briallan Teague, magician on the Path of Isis from the 12th Nome of Cornwall
* Mishka Doshkov, witch and tracker and a friend of Luke though it's revealed she was tracking and manipulating him on orders of the Syndikat, is also wielder of Tyrfing which she ends up getting killed with
* Justine [=MacTiernan=], a young warlock, daughter of Caroline Hughes and Jeffrey [=MacTiernan=] and Luke's sister
* Emlen Grove, Elenwen's younger brother and a witch of Geb, also apprenticed to Callum until his untimely death at which point his training halted
* Dmitri Karalis, a charmer and former member of the Syndikat who changed sides when Erin saved his life
* Jemma Evilian, granddaughter of Pluto and Dionysus and utterly terrifying despite being fifteen

There are also several one-shot characters but they won't be listed.
----
!!''The Old World'' provides examples of:

* AbsurdlySharpBlade:
** Ragnar's weapon, the Sword of Kings, can cut through anything supposedly.
** Also Fragarach that Erin has and likely Jemma's sword too since it's made of ''diamond.''
* ActionDad: Luke's father Jeffrey. More 'action' than 'dad' sadly.
* ActionGirlfriend: Erin for Cyril.
* ActionHero: Thomas and Luke predominantly.
* ActionSurvivor: If he isn't an ActionHero then Thomas is this.
* AfterActionHealingDrama: Pretty much from the moment Elenwen rescues Luke from his dad to Justine's sudden arrival.
* AfterActionPatchUp: The time spent in the 12th Nome after Erin converted the death seal to a triskele on Luke's neck.
* AllMythsAreTrue
* AncestralWeapon: Likely the Sword of Kings given its name.
* AndIMustScream: What Kaylara kinda does to Milán.
* AntagonistInMourning: Owen when everyone's convinced Luke's [[DeaderThanDead dead.]] Though he isn't very antagonistic to begin with.
* AnyoneCanDie: Yep, and they mean ''anyone.'' Mishka, Cal, Ivona, Andrej, Milán, Círdan...
* ArrowsOnFire: Menhit's are magical. One hits Thomas in the arm.
* ArtifactOfDeath: Tyrfing may be interpreted as this since it is cursed to kill someone every time it's drawn and also happens to kill its owner Mishka.
* AssassinationAttempt: The death seal can be viewed as this as it is designed to kill or put in a coma from afar.
* AssassinOutclassin: Connected to the above - the death seal and through it Jeffrey are thwarted in their attempt to kill Luke because a few choice people realized certain possibilities and had the proper magical skill to alter the death seal.
* AudibleSharpness: [[PlayingWith Averted]] almost entirely. Bladed weapons are frequently drawn throughout the story however none of them seem to make a noise as they do so.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Both the [=MacTiernan=] clan and the Hunters.
* BackForTheDead / BackFromTheDead: More like Back from the Dead ''for'' the Dead: Ivona is killed almost a week after her ressurection.
* BadassAdorable:
** CuteBruiser / LittleMissBadass: Jemma is both the youngest hero and the shortest one. Jemma is also deadly as all hell.
** KillerRabbit: Aki the raiju.
* BadassBookworm: Elenwen seems to be transitioning into this.
* BadassBystander: Both Cerulea and Cyril are introduced this way. Cerulea goes up against a ''goddess''. And '''''wins'''''.
* BadassCrew: The main cast.
* BadassFamily: [[PlayingWith Implied]] with the [=MacTiernans=].
* BadassInDistress: Elenwen had to rescue Luke from Jeffrey before he was killed.
* BarredFromTheAfterlife: Rather than go to Mag Mell like most dead druids Círdan gets [[DraggedOffToHell dragged off to Hell]] by Death.
* BashBrothers: Luke and Thomas are becoming this.
* BastardBastard: [[PlayingWith Implied]] with Jeffrey as the only [=MacTiernan=] female we see is Justine, who is herself ''Jeffrey's'' [[HeroicBastard bastard]].
* BattleCouple: Erin and Cyril.
** Possibly Thomas and Lea in the future.
* BestedByTheInexperienced: Happens several times to Cyril from Jeffrey, though Cyril's HealingFactor means it does almost nothing and he's just toying with Jeffrey at that point.
* BirthDeathJuxtaposition: Literally in an almost DeathByChildbirth example in the backstory - minutes after Emer is killed Luke is 'born' by being ''cut out of his dead mother's womb''.
* BladeOnAStick: Ragnar uses a naginata briefly before it breaks.
* BloodFromTheMouth: A [[PlayingWith Justified]] example with Luke as the stab wound he'd received prior managed to pierce his lung.
* BloodKnight: Ragnar is from the era when being a Viking was a legitimate profession.
* BoisterousBruiser: Ragnar can slip into this.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: A few flashbacks mention Erin and Callum have done this.
* BreakableWeapons: Luke's summoned weapons shatter, though that was likely more a side effect of his magic getting cut off than a flaw in the weapons themselves.
** UnbreakableWeapons: All the magic ones it seems.
* BroughtDownToBadass: Luke when Jeffrey cuts off his mana.
* BurnTheWitch: Possible variation in Erin's backstory - it's mentioned briefly that in one of Círdan's attempts to kill her and her brother he set both of them ''on fire.''
* CainAndAbel: Thankfully [[PlayingWith averted]] in the case of Luke and Justine. Had Justine been raised by their father though this is likely how that would've gone.
* CareerEndingInjury: Common enough among Hunters they have an entire hidden camp for these people.
* CarryABigStick: Erin has Foirne.
* CartwrightCurse: Luke's original love interest Mishka is killed less than a week before Christmas. Partially a case of DieForOurShip and DeathOfTheHypotenuse though as he already had a second interest.
* CarvedMark: Bres carves a seal into Emlen's arm fairly early on.
* CessationOfExistence: Happens to Milán via Kaylara as punishment for sentencing several Syndikat witches to death with artificial berserker seals.
* CharacterDeath: Lots.
* CharactersDroppingLikeFlies: Seems to happen in particular to Syndikat members...
* CivilizationDestroyer: Set is the most obvious one, though Kaylara also falls into this category.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Jeffrey's methods of trying to kill Luke certainly feel like this.
* CombatMedic: Elenwen seems to be slipping into this.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Milán's is rather harsh though one can assume it was painless.
* CrystalWeapon: Jemma has a diamond sword.
* CulturedWarrior: Ragnar has shades of this.
* DareToBeBadass:
--> '''Ragnar:''' I'm not going to say you can't. But I will say this. I'm not waiting for you. If you want to get revenge for this, you had best hurry and become strong enough to get it. You understand what I'm saying?
* DeaderThanDead: Círdan isn't coming back anytime soon, and neither is Milán - likely the case for Ivona as well. It may be possible for Mishka to come back but considering the Hunters' aversion to resurrection magic it's unlikely.
** Thought to be the case for Luke since the injuries he received should ''definitely'' have been fatal '''and''' a '''''death seal''''' was activated on him but that didn't stop him from surviving anyway.
* DeadPartner: It's mentioned in his backstory that one of Thomas's friends was killed in the lamia attack when he first became a Hunter.
* DeathByChildbirth: [[PlayingWith Averted]] with Emer in the backstory, as her death isn't caused by her pregnancy with Luke but rather because Jeffrey is a sociopath.
* DeathByIrony: Mishka is killed by the curse of her own weapon.
* DeathByOriginStory: Luke's mother. Also Thomas's friend that got killed by a lamia.
* DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist: While the Old World isn't a video game this seems to be how life works for Cyril.
* DeathNotification: At one point Justine calls her uncle wondering about a battle she heard had happened. He flat out tells her her brother is probably dead.
* DeathOfTheHypotenuse: Evidently Niki Haruno prefered the Luke and Elle ship over the Luke and Mishka ship.
* DeepSleep: Luke is out for at least a day after his ordeal, leading to [[HospitalSurprise his surprise]] at finding himself in the 12th Nome Infirmary.
* DefiantToTheEnd: Luke. Even [[NormallyIWouldBeDeadNow when a normal person]] [[NoOneShouldSurviveThat should've died by blood loss]] several minutes ago he keeps trying to fight Jeffrey, even spitting blood in the latter's face. Jeffrey then slashes his cheek.
* DeliberateInjuryGambit: Cyril can't really die so he can implement this often.
* DentedIron: Thomas and Luke both take some serious damage in the fight against the Syndikat but not only do both manage to survive Thomas manages to keep fighting despite losing a lot of blood.
* DesecratingTheDead: Jeffrey briefly kicks a corpse when frustrated.
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: Mishka died in Kaylara's arms since the immortal was trying to save her.
** Nearly happened with Luke but he managed to survive.
* DiesWideOpen: Callum's eyes are noted as being open and glassy when Círdan kills him.
* DivineParentage: A few examples throughout:
** Jemma is the grandchild or Greco-Roman gods Pluto and Dionysus.
** Cyril a son of Hermes.
** Myrine is a daughter of Ares.
** Hercules is the son of Zeus.
** Tíen Saileach is the child of Irish gods Manannan mac Lir and Fand - how she was born 'human' rather than fae is unknown.
** Also this giant they fought that one time was a son of Poseidon, not that it did him much good against the combined efforts of Ragnar's grenade launcher and Dealga.
* TheDogBitesBack: Ivona learned this the hard way when trying to force Mishka to kill the man she loved. Mishka decided to just stab Ivona instead.
* DraggedOffToHell: Gaia orders this happen to Círdan for his various crimes.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: Callum's death is pretty sudden as Círdan stops his heart and he's dead before he hits the ground.
* DualWielding: Erin/Gaia does this with Dealga and Fragarach.
* DueToTheDead: Played in an interesting way with the bodies of Callum and Círdan. Callum, a dedicated druid who was murdered, is ceremonially buried by Gaia and guaranteed reincarnation. Círdan, a traitor and murderer, has his body eaten by the Morrigan after his soul's been [[DraggedOffToHell taken somewhere less than pleasant]].
* DyingDeclarationOfHate: Ivona's '''final''' words are "Screw you."
* EverybodysDeadDave: Happens several times to several Hunter teams caught in ambush.
* ExtendedDisarming: During the beginning of Luke and Jeffrey's duel. Both are warlocks so even after they've lost several weapons they still have more.
* EyeScream: Thomas kills a Syndikat witch by throwing a knife into their eye.
* FacialHorror: Both Luke and Elle have their faces cut by Jeffrey - in Luke's case it's not that bad, just a thin scar from the corner of his mouth to his ear, but in Elle's case it's a massive, jagged scar ear to ear across the bridge of her nose.
* FadingAway: Milán's death somehow manages to be a violent version of this.
* FakeKillScare: Cyril pranks Ragnar by letting Ragnar drive several feet of steel through his chest. It was not fake but it wasn't permanent and it certainly caught Ragnar off guard.
* FakingTheDead: Currently what Luke is doing since to everyone outside the Hunters and House of Life he's DeaderThanDead. It looks like the [=MacTiernans=] are about to find out though.
** Also counts as DeathFakedForYou since this was unintentional and Jeffrey's extra precautions to kill him convinced everyone he really was dead.
* FamilyUnfriendlyViolence: Much of the fight scenes.
* FamousLastWords: Ivona's "Screw you."
* FatalReward: Mishka was promised that if she betrayed Luke to the Illuminati Luke's life would be spared. They tried to make her kill Luke. Wounds sustained in the ensuing fight resulted in her death.
* FightingIrish: Erin and the [=MacTiernans=].
* FinalExchange:
-->'''Ivona:''' You bastards. You think you're so high and mighty. Screw you.\\
'''Ragnar:''' ''[shrugs]'' We earned it. ''[impales her]''
* FinishHim: Ivona attempts getting Mishka to do this after she's wounded Luke. What results is Mishka [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice stabbing the hell out of Ivona's ribcage.]]
* FireballEyeballs: Whenever Jemma gets really into a fight her eyes are often described as 'violent purple, like flames'.
* ForgedByTheGods: Fragarach, Foirne (though not forged per se), the Gae Derg.
* FromDressToDressing: Thomas takes his shirt off in order to use it as an impromptu bandage to keep Luke from bleeding out.
* GemstoneAssault: One of Jemma's abilities.
* GeniusBruiser: Luke, possibly Thomas. Also Ragnar.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Most of the main cast.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal:
** Cyril is impaled and partially decapitated by Jeffrey, though having the Blessing of Ares means these don't set him back too far.
** Not to mention the time he pranked Ragnar while they were sparring by letting his guard down and allowing Ragnar to drive a couple feet of steel through his chest.
* GoOutWithASmile: Happens several times with Cyril. Cyril being Cyril it's never permanent.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: How Erin kills Bres.
* HeHadAName: Part of the reason Owen gets so mad at his brother is because said brother who as far as they know recently killed ''his own son'' dismisses him as a bastard child and a mistake. Owen then proceeds to banish his brother.
* HeroicBastard: Justine, Luke, Thomas, Erin and Cal are all this according to their backstory.
* HesOkay: A lot of this occurs after they're sure Luke is no longer dying.
* HospitalSurprise: More like '12th Nome Surpise' when Luke wakes up in the House of Life's Infirmary with no idea of how he got there and no memory of the previous fight.
* HumanPincushion: Two icepicks, two knives, a sword that one time...
* HungryWeapon: Tyrfing ''must'' kill someone any time it's drawn.
* IAintGotTimeToBleed: Thomas ignores his injuries during the fight.
* ICallItVera: Tíen evidently named her never-healing torture sword 'Dealga', which means Thorns.
* ICanStillFight: Lea insists she's fine even after getting ''struck by lightning''.
* ImAHumanitarian: The Morrigan eats dead bodies.
* ImmortalHero: Literally in the cases of Erin, Ragnar and Kay.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: If icepicks through the shoulders and into the wall don't qualify who knows what will.
* ImplacableMan: Ragnar.
-->''For better or worse, this was his people's fight now and he intended to win it.\\
And for a Dane, you only won once your enemy was buried.''
* ImprobableAimingSkills:
** How in hell did Cerulea manage to accurately hit each of Menhit's arrows with lightning ''without missing?''
** How did the one arrow she did miss manage to nail Thomas in the arm for that matter?
* ImprobableUseOfAWeapon: How long are those icepicks anyway? A foot?
* IronWoobie:
** Luke. Jeffrey is the main cause of this.
** Everything with Mishka didn't really help either.
* ItAlwaysRainsAtFunerals: [[PlayingWith Averted]] for Callum's burial and the fest in his honor.
* ItsAlwaysSunnyAtFunerals: [[PlayingWith Downplayed]] for Callum's burial and the fest in his honor.
* KeepingTheEnemyClose: Seems to have been attempted with Luke by Jeffrey given the tracking seal and the fact that Jeffrey partially raised him.
* KilledMidSentence: Happens occasionally, usually to ambushed Hunters or ambushed Syndikat members.
* KilledOffForReal: Ivona, Milán, Andrej, Círdan
* KilledToUpholdTheMasquerade: Punishment for Hunters who have commited severe enough crimes.
* KnifeFight: Between Luke and Jeffrey because Luke can't summon his own weapons and Jeffrey is fond of daggers.
* KnifeNut: Jeffrey, evidently.
* LastOfHisKind: Erin and Elenwen are the only druids on Earth.
* LegendaryWeapon: Most of them.
* LightningBruiser: Cyril.
* LodgedBladeRecycling: Luke takes a knife to the side. As he has no weapons he proceeds to pull it out and use it.
* LonelyFuneral: [[PlayingWith Inverted]] for Callum's fest, ''all'' the Hunters in Czech attend.
* MadeOfIron: Luke takes a knife to the side and then [[LodgedBladeRecycling proceeds to use it]].
* MadeOfPlasticine: Ivona cannot avoid getting herself killed.
* MagicStaff / MagicWand: As a magician Conall and Briallan have these, though it should be noted the wands look more like boomerangs.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Thomas brushes his injuries off as nothing and Lea states she's fine despite having been hit with ''lightning.''
* MarkedToDie: The death seal on Luke.
* MasterSwordsman: Myrine.
* MoreDakka: On one occasioun Ragnar 'battles' a giant with a rotating 40mm grenade launcher. Suffice to say said giant never finishes a sentence.
* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: Myrine.
* TheMourningAfter: When Erin wakes up after the fight in Tír na nÓg.
* MurderByCremation: Attempted by Círdan to the Thornes in the backstory. They survived.
* NamedWeapons: Most of the non disposable ones. Strangely enough though Cyril's sword has yet to be named.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Jeffrey's attempts at controlling and [[OffingTheOffspring killing]] Luke results in Luke becoming untraceable, able to store excess mana and able to heal every time he's unconscious, not to mention led to SIX of the oldest and most powerful immortals to personally hate Jeffrey and want him dead.
* NightmareFuel:
** Unfortunately quite a few involving the [=MacTiernan=] family in all its messed up glory:
*** Luke's 'birth.' ''That is all.''
*** To clarify Jeffrey allied with a witch named Emer for several months, during which Luke was conceived. When Jeffrey found out she had loyalties elsewhere he ''killed her'', despite knowing she was '''''nine months pregnant with their son.''''' And he seems to have no regrets whatsoever over this atrocity, even saying that Owen performing an emergency postmortem caesarean to save the kid as the stupidest thing he's ever done.
*** The implications that Jeffrey put those seals on Luke ''at birth'' is horrifying as well, considering one was designed to '''''kill him instantly''''' upon its activation. Having the seal there as a precaution isn't so bad when you keep in mind Jeffrey's apparent sociopathy, but ''he actually '''activates it''''' when realizing there is just a ''slight'' possibility Luke would survive their fight. Which he wasn't wrong about. Thankfully though the seal doesn't work entirely as intended, giving his friends a chance to change it and save him.
*** Just what Jeffrey ''did'' to Luke during their fight. As Elenwen said when a man drives ''icepicks through your shoulders and '''into a wall''' ''that man sure '''''isn't''''' your father.
*** Not to mention the fact that these icepicks ''shattered his shoulder blades''.
*** Icepicks through the shoulders wasn't all Jeffrey did to him, let's not forget the knife to the side Luke took and the stab wound that went through his stomach and diaphragm and ''into his '''lung'''''.
*** The narration's description of Luke's injuries from his perspective is pretty bad as well, especially the part about him coughing and blood gurgling up out of his mouth.
*** When Elle catches sight of Thomas and Lea and asks them to help with trying to keep Luke alive Thomas's first reaction is shock and horror at seeing his friend unconscious, coughing up blood and obviously dying.
** Also when Lea gets hit by lightning saving Thomas and he [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge flips out]], mainly because the girl he likes just got hurt and you are ''screwed'' if you're in the Syndikat.
** Jemma when fighting those Syndikat members in their sparring room - her eyes turn from heterochromatic blue and green to [[FireballEyeballs purple fireballs]] and goat horns appear behind her ears as undead skeletal warriors climb out of the pit, grapevines strangle the witches and several Syndikat members are driven to madness.
** Also the artificial berserker seals Milan put on those Syndikat members that Erin saved Dmitri from. No kidding you wouldn't be loyal any more.
** We seem to have forgotten Círdan's soul was [[DraggedOffToHell dragged off to Hell]] by Death...
* NobleBirdOfPrey: Erin's avian form is a falcon.
** Cal's was a harpy eagle.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Milán's death by Kaylara.
* NoodleIncident: Whatever Set did involving that chicken...
-->'''Conall:''' Remember the chicken?
-->'''Set:''' You swore never to mention that again.
** Also serves as foreshadowing; see [[Main/OOCIsSeriousBusiness below]].
* NoOneCouldSurviveThat: Reason Luke's assumed DeaderThanDead.
* NoOneShouldSurviveThat: Luke should've died of either blood loss, a collapsed lung, or drowning in his own blood before they could get him to safety. Not to mention he still survives the '''death''' seal.
* NormallyIWouldBeDeadNow: Luke's [[DefiantToTheEnd defiance]] keeps him alive long enough for his friends to save him.
* NoSell: During their fight Jeffrey repeatedly tries to kill Cyril. Cyril being Cyril, this doesn't last long.
* TheNothingAfterDeath: Likely Milán's fate.
* OddFriendship: More odd couple considering Erin is a druidess and Cyril is a demigod but they make it work.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Ordinarily Set does not respond well to the chicken being mentioned - see NoodleIncident above - but at one point he doesn't seem to care.
-->'''Conall:''' You remember the chicken, right?\\
'''Set:'''Conall. Just listen to me.
* OffingTheOffspring: Attempted at least twice by Jeffrey to Luke. So far it has failed every time.
* OneManArmy: Cyril can't die, at least not permanently, so one must assume this.
* PantheraAwesome: Jemma can summon large cats to aid her in combat.
* PapaWolf: Ragnar doesn't like his students getting hurt.
* PeacefulInDeath: Callum.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Kaylara and Set.
* PietaPlagiarism: Erin carries her dead brother to the place where she buries him.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Jemma is the shortest and youngest character. Jemma can also kill two dozen people simultaneously.
* PowersDoTheFighting: Skeletal soldiers, old weapons, large cats, snakes, grapevines and magic-induced madness means Jem rarely has to lift her sword.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Ragnar. He's a Dane from the Viking age.
* Psychopomp: Death takes Círdan [[DraggedOffToHell to Hell]].
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Mishka gets to hang out with the heroes for a week before dying.
* RedShirt: Several Hunter teams and most Syndikat witches.
* RedShirtArmy: The Syndikat.
* ReducedToDust: Happens to Altrops, that giant they killed, thanks to Kaylara.
* ReforgedBlade: Totsuka-no-Tsurugi was reforged after it shattered killing the Orochi no Yamata the first time. Kaylara uses it to kill the Orochi a second time.
* RefusingParadise: Callum and Erin made a deal that if one died they would refuse eternity in the paradise of Mag Mell and go for reincarnation instead.
* ReportsOfMyDeathWereGreatlyExaggerated: Probably whenever Owen finds out Luke is alive.
* RetiredBadass: The Hunters have an entire hidden camp full of them.
* Revenge: Practically EVERYONE swears [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge they will have]] this on Jeffrey for what he did to Luke. Elle especially.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Everyone is now out for Jeffrey's blood after what he did to Luke.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Ragnar was a Danish king. [[AsskickingEqualsAuthority He wasn't really born into it though.]]
* RuggedScar: Luke and Elenwen have [[FacialHorror recently gained some]] and Cyril already had one.
* SelfMutilationDemonstration: Cyril allows Ragnar to drive a couple feet of steel through his chest to prove he's immortal in the 'never gonna really die' type way.
* ShockAndAwe: Lea's main skill.
* ShoutOut: A few to the Riordanverse: Cyril, a Greek demigod, first shows up wearing an ''orange tee shirt'' though no mention is made of any print on it. Another subtle one from Conall when a comment is made about the Hunters never losing moral:
-->'''Conall:''' Reminds me a bit of the Twenty First Nome.
** A rather complex one: A young man named Luke has an uncle named Owen and an evil father as well as a sister he was unaware of having. Luke preceeds to fight his father and is gravely injured as a result. The similarities stop there.
* SimpleStaff: Foirne.
* SlashedThroat: One of the ways Cyril dies. As always it doesn't stick.
* SoleSurvivor: Dmitri was the only survivor of the artificial berserker seals due to his youth.
* SomeoneHasToDie: As soon as Tyrfing is drawn. Because of this rule when Ivona is resurrected Mishka dies.
* SpeakIllOfTheDead: After he thinks he's killed Luke Jeffrey still describes him as a 'bastard' and a 'mistake'. Luke is his ''son''.
** It's Jeffrey though so no one should be surprised.
** Also anytime Círdan is brought up Erin usually refers to him in a not so fond manner.
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: Just where exactly do the warlocks' weapons come from?
* SummonToHand: How warlocks acquire weaponry.
* SupernaturallyMarkedGrave: Interesting version more along the lines of Supernaturally ''Unmarked'' Grave as the site where Callum is buried in Czech looks completely undisturbed.
** Also the giant death mound Gaia made containing all the demon corpses.
* SurprisinglySuddenDeath: One minute Callum is listing Círdan's crimes, the next he's dead on the ground.
* SurvivorGuilt: Briefly [[PlayingWith discussed]] between Thomas and Lea and later Luke and Ragnar.
* SwordAndGun: Both Thomas and Ragnar on occasion.
* TakingTheBullet: More accurately Taking the ''Lightning Strike''. Cerulea knocks Thomas out of the way of a Syndikat witch's attack and ends up with a large burn scar on her back.
* TapOnTheHead: Elle get's knocked out by Mishka and wakes up ''six'' hours later with a massive headache.
* TrainingFromHell: Myrine's Modus Operandi for teaching.
* TranquilFury: Círdan realizes how bad he messed up when Erin suddenly becomes very calm. He then realizes ''it's not Erin''.
* TraumaticCSection: Emer's occurs ''after'' she's '''''already dead'''''.
* TheUnfavorite: Luke appears to be this with Jeffrey when compared with his sister Justine considering what Jeffrey has done to him in contrast with his sister, however it's slightly more complex than that since Jeffrey doesn't know Justine ''exists''. Completely ignoring Justine though Luke is still the Unfavorite considering his so-called 'birth' as well as what happened when he and Jeffrey fought, not to mention the three seals Jeffrey tattooed on the back of his neck, one of which was supposed to '''''kill him instantly''''' upon activation. Thank goodness Jeffrey currently thinks he's dead.
* WakingUpElsewhere: Elenwen takes a [[TapOnTheHead blow to the head]] and wakes up in a tent though it's still the same area.
* WalkingArmory:
** Warlocks due to SummonToHand and SpontaneousWeaponCreation.
** Erin also carries three magic swords, a magic dagger and a staff.
* WallOfWeapons:
** The Armory at the main Hunter Camp has tables and walls covered with a wide assortment of weapons and armor.
** Also the van that they took from Boston to the Camp was mentioned to have a full weapons rack. One can only assume this was standard issue.
* WeaponTwirling: A few characters occasionally do this but not very frequently.
* WeDoTheImpossible: Fight/kill gods, hunt the most dangerous mythical creatures, battle with magic... The Old World is fun man.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Due to several members of the game quitting various storylines and characters were dropped abruptly. There are a few instances of this that aren't excused by absent members:
** The last we heard about Nina Maldova was a brief mention of Nathan helping put out the fire the Syndikat started in Czech
** Fionn and Morgan in Maine are mentioned maybe twice and then never brought up again.
** Kare Magnusson is evidently still bar tending at Mike's Place in Boston even though the place was wrecked by Hercules
** After the main group went to assault the Syndikat and [=MacTiernans=] it's been four days and we have no idea what's going on with Emlen, Dmitri and Jemma back at the main Camp, though that's likely to be covered upon everyone's return.
* WhyWontYouDie: Said verbatim by Jeffrey to Cyril when Cyril keeps standing up after Jeffrey kills him.
* WorldOfBadass: The Old World.
* WorldsBestWarrior: No confirmation but probably Myrine.
* WoundThatWillNotHeal: Wounds from Dealga or a stab wound from Fragarach.
