* AncestralWeapon: Thor recieves the White Sword from Odin some point prior to Unholy Crusade.

* WeaponOfChoice: It's Digimon, so all different species have weapons that somewhat reflect their character.

** Tiwaz's goggles are a reference to all the previous Digimon seasons (barring [[Anime/DigimonSavers Digimon Data Squad]]), which has the leaders wearing goggles, along with an inadvertant reference to Manga/{{Legendz}}, which also features an aviation goggle-wearing dragon known as Shiron. Tiwaz and Fenrir's rivalry is also something of a reference to Digimon's "leader versus lone wolf" dynamic which is often present.

* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Tyr and Tiwaz both have this quite a bit. Bedivere, as well.

** Thor and Svarog. Subverted in that they actually are gods to begin with, so more a statement than a boast... even if they do get quite boast-y about it in this troper's opinion.

** Norse Mythology gets many, given that Thor is the Digimon equivalent of, well, Thor. Asgard appears several times, and Odin is frequently mentioned as a heroic figure in the Digital World backstory. Tyr and Tiwaz both derive their given names from Norse mythology. Tyr (whose namesake, in legend, has his right hand bitten off by the wolf Fenrir) also loses his hand in a beam blast caused by the Chaos Lord, Typhon. Arthurian Mythology also gets several, the Royal Knights are named for Arthurian characters, as are Bedivere, Caradoc and Guinier. Marvel Comics gets one in the form of Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg - and Word of God says some scenes involving Volstagg in particular are inspired by his scenes in the comics. In fact, there are probably so many this needs its own page, in this troper's opinion.

* KnightTemplar: The Royal Knights, [[spoiler:as revealed in Devil's Ascent, they were acting to stop Mephistopheles by eliminating 'the Cambion', a group of Tamers who serve as Mephistopheles' 'Digidestined/Chosen Children' in effect, though their role in the grand plan is currently unknown.]] More specifically, Constantine, who is a literal knight templar, to the point his species is SaintTemplarmon.

This is reinforced by his surname, and Michael explains some of Samael's past which adds to the allusion. If this is the case, and quite possibly anyway, Samael and his brother fit this trope. On a lesser level, Michael and Samael act like this on occasion, mostly when Samael pulls a Face Heel Turn and joins the Royal Knights.]]
