* SeriousBusiness: ''Mac Guyver'', of course, for Patty and Selma. Selma's love for the character is so strong that Bob proclaiming how much he hates the show drives her to tears and makes her consider calling the marriage off. In a weird way, Selma's faith in the character actually proves to be beneficial to her, as it's what provides Bart with the last piece he needs to figure out Bob's plan.

The Simpsons are getting ready to have dinner with Patty, Selma, and Selma's new boyfriend. Of course, one can imagine their surprise when he turns out to be none other than Sideshow Bob, freshly released from his stay in prison. He and Selma had gotten acquainted through a prison pen-pal program, and this apparently cured him of the urge to kill Bart that he developed after being in prison for so long. Bob was released for good behavior, and he proposes to Selma in front of the rest of the family. Selma accepts, but Bart is still convinced Bob is no good.

In the time leading up to the wedding, Sideshow Bob makes amends with Krusty. Meanwhile, during the family's wedding planning, we learn that Selma lost her sense of taste and smell in a freak fireworks accident as a kid, and that she has quite a bit of money to spare due to her investment in a mace company (leading Bart to be suspicious about Bob's reasons for marrying her). The engaged couple, however, nearly has a falling out over Bob's disapproval of Selma's favorite show, ''MacGyver''. This snag is quickly solved, though, by Homer suggesting that, whenever Selma's watching ''MacGyver'', Bob can just go out for a walk. So the wedding's back on, with Selma even announcing at the reception that Bob's convinced her not to smoke anymore, except for after meals and after ''MacGyver''. As the new couple drives off to their honeymoon, Sideshow Bob doesn't seem quite on the level as he seems...

-->'''Sideshow Bob:''' [''to a sleeping Selma''] That's right, my dear, enjoy your rest. The wedding was quite tough on you, and the honeymoon is going to be...'''''murder'''''. [''EvilLaugh'']

Not long after, the Simpsons receive a video tape from Selma and Bob, showing off the hotel they're staying at. Bart notices that Bob was strangely adamant over getting a room with a fireplace. Meanwhile, at the hotel, Sideshow Bob leaves for a walk as Selma sits down to watch ''MacGyver''...but not before Bob turns the gas in the fireplace on while Selma's occupied. Back at the Simpson house, Patty stops by, feeling lonely without Selma, and also sits down to watch ''MacGyver''. Bart suddenly realizes Selma has only one hour to live.

At the hotel, Sideshow Bob and Selma's room explodes, and Bob casually arrives on the scene to look over his work. However, Bart confronts him...as well as Selma, who wants a separation for almost being murdered. As the police arrest Bob, Bart reveals how he figured out his plan: Bart wondered why Bob wanted a room with a fireplace, and then realized the gas was what he really wanted. Then he would let the gas fill the room while Selma watched TV, knowing she wouldn't be able to smell it, and she'd ignite the gas after lighting a post-MacGyver cigarette. Bart convinced his family to go save Selma, and they arrived right in the nick of time. (The explosion was actually caused by Chief Wiggum lighting a cigar and then tossing his match into the gas-filled room) Sideshow Bob vows revenge, and the family congratulates Bart for never losing his mistrust.
