** Hiroshi's plan to take down the Colossus calls back to how the Gaang took down the drill in the original series.

* HairFlip: [[GaussianGirl Zhu Li]] does one completely inadvertently, which leaves Varrick momentarily dumbstruck while he musters up the guts to [[WackyMarriageProposal propose]].

** The first idea is to go for the joints and tip the mech over, but they're shielded by platinum. Wires are also used, but their tensile strength isn't enough to restrain the legs, even when combined with a push from a [[CombinationAttack lot of airbenders airblasting]] (including [[SuperMode Korra]]) and its foot stuck in a depressed pit of lava by Bolin.

To this end, Asami and Varrick's hummingbird suits are outfitted with plasma cutters to get through the platinum shell. Hiroshi knew full well that he'd pay with his life to finish the job when he ejected Asami before being swatted himself... but he succeeded in making a man-hole breach.

* GenreSavvy Since she has been following him since before the series and is more than used to the various excentricities of Varric, Zhu-Li is unfazed when he announces that they're going to jump on the experimental flying machines to fight the giant mecha right after proposing, she actually knows him so well that that is just how she had pictured it.

* TheAtoner: Bataar Jr is willing to make up for his past deeds.

* HeelRealization: Bataar Jr. finally realizes just what he's been doing, and spills as much beans as he can on how to stop the monstrosity he helped create.

* ShipSinking: Unsurprisingly, Kuvira ruined her and Bataar Jr.'s relationship when she fired the spirit vine cannon on his location.

* TheBeastmaster: Wu, who manages to use his singing to get a pair of badgermoles to help dig a tunnel for the remaining evacuees to escape through ([[StylisticSuck much to the dismay of the evacuees, who, Grandma Yin aside, hate the singing]]). He even gets them to take out three mecha-suits that followed them!
