Starting the last episode ends, Ruby follows Weiss as she races across Vale to greet a woman who turns out to be Weiss's older sister, Winter. As the sisters begin their journey back to the school, they're interrupted when a drunkard picks a fight with Winter. He turns out to be Ruby's uncle, Qrow. Awesome fight and property damage ensue, until it's broken up when Ironwood shows up followed by Ozpin and Glynda.

Later, Qrow, Ironwood, Glynda, and Ozpin have a meeting where a lot of harsh words ensue.

* HeroicLineage: Winter also has the ability to use glyphs, and later confirmed that the Schnee family's Semblance is hereditary.

* YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe: Ozpin's open-mouthed shock that Qrow's still drinking, even as he's being called out as a drunk.

!! This episode contains examples of:

* ObfuscatingStupidity: Qrow doesn't seem like much at first, but quickly reveals himself to be a DrunkenMaster who is skilled, powerful, and savvy enough to make a fool of Winter. Mercury, who has been shown to be observant and methodical, immediately bolts when he realizes Qrow is back. When meeting in private with Ozpin and the rest of the BenevolentConspiracy, Qrow drops the act - though he still drinks - revealing that he's been away on a lengthy reconnaissance mission, and calls Ironwood out on his methods.

** Winter delivers a more aggressive one to Weiss when the younger answers her question wrong.

** It's finally revealed why Cinder hacked into the communications network in Dance Dance Infiltration. She now has control of all the tournament match-up selections, and she's also gained access to General Ironwood's Scroll. The extent of this plan has yet to be seen, but the implications are huge.

** The "Ice Queen" nickname comes back, but it's referring to Winter (to Weiss' surprise).

Starting where we left off last episode, Weiss races across Vale to welcome the mysterious "she" with Ruby in tow. Soon we find out it's none other than Weiss's sister, Winter Schnee. After a warm...ish reunion Winter asks Weiss to show her team RWBY's dorm, but before they get even a block down the road a drunk, who turns out to be Ruby's uncle Qrow, picks a fight with Winter. Awesome fight and property damage ensue, but it is ended when Ironwood shows up followed by Ozpin and Glynda.

Later Qrow, Ironwood, Glynda, and Ozpin have a meeting and a lot of harsh words ensue.

** Ozpin and Ironwood present equally viable motivations in regards to how they have been handling security. Ironwood feels that an open display of military might will give people a feeling of safety (which, besides the usual benefits of high morale, [[ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve also makes Grimm less dangerous]]), while Ozpin's more subtle approach would have avoided people questioning why such a military force has been assembled in the first place.
** This also applies to Qrow and Ironwood's argument. Ironwood's efforts were in response to Ozpin's less forceful approach backfiring while Qrow is correct that Ironwood's more direct efforts have done nothing to dissuade Cinder's group from their course of action.

* InTheBlood: Winter also has the ability to use glyphs, making it possible the glyph semblance is a Schnee bloodline trait (or at least influenced by upbringing).
