* TookALevelInBadass: Played with; Gary certainly acts a lot more confident, and his nip-notizing ability makes him more of a threat, managing to brainwash Ava, Nora and the rest of the Time Bureau. However, he's still not as clever as he thinks he is; his change in demeanor and insistence that the brainwashed agents praise him set off warning bells for Mona, he failed to come up with a back-up plan in case there was anyone who he couldn't brainwash, and once he loses that advantage, he's totally helpless in the face of a very angry Wolfie, Ava and Nora. All in all, Gary's FaceHeelTurn might have made him more sinister, but it didn't really make him any more ''competent''.

* WhatTheHellHero: Sara calls Mick and Charlie for being absent from the Waverider when Neron took control Ray. Mick turns it on her by pointing out ''she'' was also absent from the ship -- in fact she makes frequent shore leaves so why is it wrong that he and Charlie did the same? He also points out how Sara always finds a way to blame everybody else on the team when things so south but never herself. They both eventually apologize to one another.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Mick's criticism that Sara tends to get caught up in her own thing, then blame the team when things go wrong, is not without merit. Sara is the Captain of the ship, and leader of the team; they're ''her'' responsibility.

** The Legends impromptu and near-fatal ''Star Wars'' homage back in season 2 comes up during the card game.

* AnArmAndALeg: John cuts off his ancestors hand.

* EveryoneHasStandards: Even John with his contempt of most magical creatures recognizes that Puacas are harmless and should be left alone.

* LickedByTheDog: The Puaca heals John's head wound, apparently sensing that he is not so bad.

** How does King Konstantyn react when he sees John? Assume he's a shapeshifter and decides to banish to Hell with the Puaca.

* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: The Puaca delivers a non-verbal version of this to Constantine: as he laments about what a "bloody bastard" he is, she heals him, reflecting his inner goodness and cluing John in to the fact that he's not as bad as he thinks.

* BodyHorror: Gary's nipple turning into an hypnotizing ''eyeball''.

* NotAfraidToDie: Neron tries to scare John on what awaits him in Hell. John is unfazed since he's already made peace with it since his soul's been damned for some time. But what ''does'' scare his having to face those he couldn't save like Ray or Astra.

* ShoutOut: A ''Franchise/StarWars'' reference from [[Recap/LegendsOfTomorrowS2E9RaidersOfTheLostArt all the way back in season 2]] [[CallBack comes up]] as the Legends play Ray's card game, and the franchise gets two more references by the episode's end: Constantine [[Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack duels an evil forefather]] [[Film/ReturnOfTheJedi in a fight that ends with a severed hand]], while Gideon remarks that odds of escaping from the ice are [[Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack 3720 to 1]], with Sara responding in true Han Solo fashion.

* VillainHasAPoint: Neron pointedly asks Constantine if everyone in hell truly deserves to be there. While [[{{Sadist}} Neron himself]] and [[FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon Tabitha]] certainly do, he's not wrong that neither Ray and Astra deserve the place (although his point is undermined by the fact that Neron is the reason that Ray's in hell to begin with).

* YouAreNotAlone: Wolfie scratches this message into a nearby wall to reassure Mona.

* ParentalSubstitute: Nate and Zari are eager to have the dragon baby inside the golden egg. Nate even gives it a name.

The third plot takes place in a wooded area, presumably in real woods, which minimizes the need for new sets.

* LaserGuidedKarma: Neron is amused by the fact that John is about to be sent to hell, as he banished many creatures there.

He teleports just in time, trapping the Legends in an avalanche.

* EveryoneHasStandards: Even John with his contempt of most magical creatures recognizes that a Puacas are harmless and should be left alone.

* MercyKill: How Mick justifies ordering the Waverider's canons to fire on Neron -- Ray's gone so its best to take Neron out as fast as possible.

* TheReveal: Tabitha is none other than the Fairy Godmother. And the two are a couple!

* AchivementsInIgnorance: Downplayed: Sara decides that, if the crew is going to die in the avalanche, they'd be better off dying warm, so she has Gideon crank the heat while the others chill out in the galley. As it turns out, this winds up melting the ice ''just enough'' so that the Waverider can break free.
