** One way back to the original Dalek story- when the [[spoiler: Oswin]] Dalek confronts the Doctor, there's a POV shot ''very'' similar to the famous scene where we see a Dalek approaching Barbara from its view, sucker-arm extended.

Not a continuity nod. Also, that\'s different timeline time locked behind the war. This event has no effect on previous ones.

** A rare, '''49-year example'''. This episode explains why [[spoiler: [[Recap/DoctorWhoS1E2TheDaleks the Daleks didn't recognize the Doctor the first time he met them.]]]]

Added DiffLines:

* AffablyEvil: To a certain extent the Daleks seem to have gotten far more polite and (in the case of the Prime Minister) sardonic with the Doctor, despite their utter hatred of him, and are clearly shown to have enormous respect for him. This both (naturally) sickens the Doctor, but for a moment creates a rather disturbing reversal from the usual banter between them and the Doctor, with the fuming Doctor being outsnarked by a Dalek.

* MythologyGag: In early drafts of ''[[Recap/DoctorWhoS1E2TheDaleks The Daleks]]'', it would have been a plot point that Skaro was subject to regular monsoon-like storms. When this serial opens on Skaro, just such a storm is taking place.
