In the morning, we're back to Amy's wedding day and her mum's brought her breakfast. Amy is surprised at first, then confused about ''why'' she's surprised. Her dad's downstairs but it's like she's never seen them before.

** Whoever she is, whatever she did, River Song is so ruthless that ''Dalek'' would beg her for mercy.

They lock the Dalek in the room, while the Doctor zaps back and forth for a while, getting himself out of the Pandorica, fixing time loops and leaving messages. And Amelia, here's a drink. [[CrazyAwesome He's grabbed a fez somewhere along there.]] Then suddenly, zap!...and another Doctor appears on top of the stairs, burnt, jacket torn, dishevelled, and collapses. He whispers something into our Doctor's ear and... dies, apparently. They have twelve minutes.

He's about to run again, but Amy and Rory catch up. There're things left unresolved; the BigBad still hasn't been revealed yet, someone brought the TARDIS to this point in time-space and blew it up, that voice from ''fucking nowhere'' still hasn't been explained. Then he gets a phone call. Another SealedEvilInACan has escaped on the Orient Express. [[AC: InSpace]]! He has to go, something's come up, so this is goodbye. Amy and Rory wave goodbye to her house and vworp, vworp...

** Also Amy's speech when she freakin' ''talks'' the Doctor back into existance.

* FanDumb: Literally in fact, since all the complaints that gets thrown around are all based upon [[TooDumbToLive ignorance or thinking it too simply.]] Becomes especially inexcuseable when the problem is more often than not [[WallBanger explicitly spelled out to the viewers]].
** To make the matters worse, there seems to be a group of people who complain that the episode is [[BlameGame "trying to be clever"]] as a counter-arguement.

** Considering that this series has taken every wonderful opportunity it gets to reference earlier Doctors, it seemed a little bit of a let down that they didn't show any adventures earlier than [[Recap/DoctorWhoS31E01TheEleventhHour The Eleventh Hour]] in passing. Then you remember that directly before he met Amelia, the Doctor [[Recap/DoctorWhoNSS4E17E18TheEndOfTime said goodbye to his best friends in recent memory, his arch-enemy, and his entire race,]] and this denial becomes forgiveable.

** Which really doesn't say much - considering every ugly/cheap feature of the new Daleks are basically hidden by the charred-looking effect. It's kinda like saying a person doesn't look so bad after you cover them in a tarp.

When we return from the opening credits, we're back at Stonehenge with Rory cradling Amy's body, babbling on[[hottip:* :Because, y'know, our hearts haven't been torn through our chests enough last episode.]]. So, the Universe ended and she missed that. They weren't even born, twice in Rory's case; she'd laugh at that. Please, laugh. He could really do with one of those miracles the Doctor talked about just about now.

* GoodIsNotNice: River may be on the Doctor's side, but she's not interested in being merciful... at least around a Dalek. Earlier, she also planeted micro-explosives in a Time Agent's drink to force him to fork over a vortex manipulator.

**** In Darlek. When the Doctor [[WhatTheHellHero turns on the electricity to kill the titular creature]] [[spoiler: (he fails)]], it says, "Have pity!" to him. Not exactly the same thing, but close enough.

* ViewersAreGeniuses: Moffat touches on this in DoctorWhoConfidential. He explains how he is selling a complex story as not complex because he gives the audience visual clues which let the audience figure things out and if viewers think they know what is going on they won't feel like it's so complex... if you followed that you are a genius.

* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Auton!Rory makes the choice to stay on the slow path and spend 1894 years alone guarding a box because his human values are even more important now he is not human.

* BBC America broadcasting the whole thing in 60 minutes with only two sponsors.

* ShoutOut: The universe is saved using the principle behind [[TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy the Total Perspective Vortex]].

She's so happy she's ready to kiss him again, but the Doctor insists that the only one doing the kissing will be Mr Pond. Rory's not Mr Pond, that's not how it works...except it totally is. "Yeaaah, it is."

They go up to the roof, where it's day. The sun's gone, since no stars ever shone, but there's a big ball of light in the sky. It's the TARDIS exploding, exploding at every point in time and space, keeping those who still exist on Earth warm. The Doctor grabs a satellite dish and it picks up River's voice, her last line repeated, over and over again. The TARDIS has trapped her in a GroundhogDayLoop, freezing her in time so she relives her last moments over and over and over ag--the Doctor zaps to her and brings her to the roof.

** The Doctor steals Amelia's drink... to give to Future Amelia... because she's thirsty... because someone stole her drink.
