** Keep in mind that the ‘Voodoo Doll’ is really a product of Hollywood. They (nor effigy pins of any type) don’t really feature in the Voudoun religion. As such, it’s easy to see how Tiffany’s doll could be used less as puppeteering and more issuing compulsive commands. Stab the doll’s eye and the subject is compelled to stab themselves with whatever’s at hand. Drown it in a toilet and they’re compelled to dunk their head in the nearest standing water, which in a kitchen might be a pot of boiling water. Granted this isn’t the way the doll worked on the doctor in the first film (which worked like we typically expect). But it’s not the first time the rules of magic in this universe have changed to suit the plot.
