* Music/{{Madonna}} calls Music/PattiSmith, Music/{{Blondie}}, Music/LedZeppelin, Music/TheSupremes, Music/{{Carpenters}}, and Music/DavidBowie her prime influences. She also adores Creator/BetteDavis, Creator/CaroleLombard, Creator/MarleneDietrich, Creator/RitaHayworth, Creator/MarilynMonroe and Creator/KatharineHepburn as well as the art of Creator/FridaKahlo, Creator/TamaraDeLempicka and Creator/AndyWarhol. Creator/SylviaPlath is her favorite author. In terms of dancers she admires Creator/MarthaGraham and Creator/RudolfNureyev.

* Music/JenniferLopez said in a 2009 interview that she watched ''Film/WestSideStory'' "37 times growing up", but: "I never wanted to be that wimpy Maria... I wanted to be Anita, who danced her way to the top."

** Naturally he also greatly admired Hollywood musicals and the dancing talents of Creator/FredAstaire and Creator/GeneKelly. The choreography in ''Film/WestSideStory'' inspired the music videos of "Beat It" and "Bad". He was also fascinated by Music/DianaRoss, Creator/GretaGarbo and Creator/ElizabethTaylor.

* It's not a coincidence that the ''Series/DoctorWho'' theme is heard in Music/PinkFloyd's "One of These Days" from ''Music/{{Meddle}}''. The band would also frequently interrupt recording sessions to watch ''Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus'' and their royalties helped fund ''Film/MontyPythonAndTheHolyGrail'' as a tax shelter. Keyboardist Richard Wright, along with John Entwistle of Music/TheWho mentioned on this page, was also what we would now call a "band geek" as a fan of classical and jazz music who once expressed a desire to have a symphony of his performed in the Royal Albert Hall--though that's not to say he didn't also enjoy works such as Music/TalkingHeads' ''Music/RemainInLight''. Drummer Nick Mason mentioned in his autobiography that he and bandmate Music/RogerWaters nicknamed a particularly annoying (and apparently hostile) light machine they used in their stage show 'The Dalek'.
* Music/CaptainBeefheart used to listen to a lot of blues artists along with his high school buddy Music/FrankZappa. He even modeled his voice after Music/HowlinWolf. Beefheart was also amazed by the skill and stage antics of jazz musician Music/RolandKirk As a painter Beefheart drew influence from Franz Kline, Creator/SalvadorDali and Creator/VincentVanGogh. When he visited the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam he looked at the sun and was actually disappointed that it didn't look as bright as on Van Gogh's paintings.

** Apparently Morrison was also a big ''ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}}'' fan. As recounted in [[http://noblemania.blogspot.com/2014/06/peanuts-interview-stephen-shea-linus-in.html this interview]], when Morrison found out that one of his acquaintances knew Christopher Shea, who played Linus in the early animated shows, Morrison invited Shea to a Doors concert and met him backstage.

* Music/{{Gackt}}, J-rock artist, voice actor, and real-life {{bishonen}} is a huge fan of ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam''. He once managed to swing an article about building Gunpla in a music magazine and led a massive audience of screaming teenage girls in a chant of "Sieg Zeon" after reciting Gihren's speech at Garma's funeral.

** The RZA is not the only comic geek in the Wu-Tang Clan. Method Man and Ghostface Killa often refer to themselves as [[Comicbook/GhostRider Johnny Blaze]] and [[Comicbook/IronMan Tony Stark]], respectively.

* Underground rapper Music/{{MF DOOM}} is quite possibly one of the most obvious cases. His main persona is basically a hip-hop version of Doctor Doom, almost never appearing without a metallic Doom mask. Nerdy references get dropped in his lyrics throughout, including (but certainly not limited to) ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros, Franchise/StarTrek, VideoGame/DonkeyKong'', loads and loads of comic book series, ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}, Franchise/{{Godzilla}}'', and so on. Hell, he even uses some samples from video games and animated series.

* Music/MarcBolan, the elfin pre-Bowie glam god of T. Rex fame, was a notorious {{Fantasy}} lover, who actually forced his original drummer to change his name to Steve [[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings Peregrin Took]].

** Notable enough to get an in-game character named after him

* [[{{Music.Anthrax}} Anthrax]] are ''ComicBook/JudgeDredd'' fans and have appeared on-stage dressed as Judges and done a song entitled, appropriately enough, ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rVFi6qkPHE I Am The Law]]'' [[FilkSong based on the comics.]]

* Music/BruceDickinson of ''Music/IronMaiden'' is a huge Creator/MontyPython fan, to the extent of singing the main title song on their documentary, ''Life of Python''

* Music/OzzyOsbourne is a big Beatles fan. Apparently, he even rescheduled an appearance on Creator/HowardStern's show so that he could meet Paul [=McCartney=] on the day that Paul was going to be on.

* For a bunch of gangsta rappers, the rap group Slaughterhouse likes to reference ''Anime/{{Voltron}}'' and comic books a whole lot in their lyrics. Joe Budden even compares himself to [[StreetFighter E. Honda]] at one point in a song.

* Music/SouljaBoy likes ''Manga/DeathNote'' and ''Anime/DragonBallZ''. He made a song sampling Near's theme and made songs titled "Anime" and "Goku". He also likes ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'', ''Anime/AfroSamurai'', ''Manga/DetectiveConan'', and ''Anime/CowboyBebop'' according to his Website/{{Twitter}}. He also likes video games. He has a second career as a Twitcher streamer where he plays games like ''Call of Duty'', ''Runescape'', and ''Rogue Company'', and he's pretty good at it too.

* Music/DavidBowie was a fan of Music/FrankZappa and Music/JacquesBrel, whose "Amsterdam" he covered on ''Music/PinUps''. His love for Music/BobDylan was so strong that he wrong "Song For Bob Dylan" on his album ''Music/HunkyDory''. He was also the first mainstream artist to release a single for download; indeed, his official website also served as an ISP in the early days. He was also fond of Japanese culture and had demonstrated surprisingly insightful knowledge of Japanese politics and philosophy in interviews, and included several songs from his then-latest album on the game ''VideoGame/OmikronTheNomadSoul'', as well as appearing as a character in the game ''twice''.

* Ski Mask the Slump God is a big anime fan, referencing ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' in his songs "Lost Souls" (which also mentions ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'') and "New Age Chip Skylark". * Music/MatthewSweet was an anime fan before it was popular. His 1991 music video "Girlfriend" was composed almost entirely of scenes from ''Manga/SpaceAdventureCobra''. Lum from ''Manga/UruseiYatsura'' (whom he reportedly has a tattoo of) was featured prominently in his "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffs_HWo7B8Y I'll Be Waiting]]" video.

* Music/ToshimitsuDeyama: The English-speaking fandom of figure skater Creator/YuzuruHanyu often joke that no matter how much of a [[FanCommunityNickname fanyu]] you are, you can't be more of a fanyu than [=ToshI=]. He collaborated with Hanyu for two of the skaters' programs during Fantasy on Ice - ''Crystal Memories'' and ''[[Theatre/ThePhantomOfTheOpera Masquerade.]]'' He stayed up the night before the event to make a bedazzled Franchise/WinnieThePooh shirt (Hanyu's GoodLuckCharm) and tweeted often about Hanyu's competitions. He coined the nickname "Yuzu-numa" (Yuzu swamp) because once you get into the fandom, you can't get out.

* Music/LadyGaga is a gamer, and seems to particularly enjoy ''VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}''.

* Turkish singer Oğuzhan Koç. If you can [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7XnDM2Bb9Y create a catchy, crowd-pleasing tune]] based off of nothing more than [[Franchise/StreetFighter a ball of fire thrown from the hands of a wandering Japanese hobo]] (well, more like its {{Mondegreen}}, but who's being technical?), then you easily qualify. One can only wonder what would have happened if he was there on ''Çok Güzel Hareketler Bunlar'' for the actual ''Street Fighter''-themed [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahVvJ0Alm-s episode.]]

* Music/TwistedSister vocalist Dee Snider is a huge gamer. He's made special appearances on Xbox Live at certain points, and on a Creator/VH1 special once told a story about how his son accidentally erased his save file in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZelda''.

* Canadian electronic music artist Music/{{deadmau5}} might just be the nerdiest musician ever. He has a host of gaming related tattoos, including hearts from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZelda'', a Space Invader, a [[VideoGame/{{Minecraft}} Creeper]], and even Creator/ShigeruMiyamoto's signature. He even owns a replica of the Master Sword and Hylian Shield, which proudly hangs on his wall. He also is a major internet nerd and a huge {{Troll}} and often quotes memes in his live stream. He even incorporates video game elements and graphics in his live shows. He also taught himself computer programming, web design, and programming, 3D modeling (which is the source for the mau5head he performs in), and flash animation, among other talents.

* Hip-hop violinist Music/LindseyStirling is a huge sci-fi and fantasy fan. She recorded [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3KUyPKbR7Q a medley of songs]] from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZelda'' as well as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQiNVk_u0po&feature=related the main theme]] from ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'', the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BSLPH9d-jsI theme from Skyrim]], as well as videos for ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCL94-MsxYc Phantom of the Opera]]'', ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOg8Cz9yfWg Assassin's Creed]]'', ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVw8RxNvnxU Halo]]''(with pianist William Joseph), ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDsfou6UfjU Mission Impossible]]''(with The Piano Guys), ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oNpmSAvpGQ Game of Thrones]]'' and ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtQb2axKpuw Star Wars]]''(the last two with Peter Hollens). And all the times in those videos that she appears in costume? Yeah, she made those. She's a cosplayer.

* Music/DelThaFunkeeHomosapien is another fantastic example from the rap world. Gaming is a common subject in his raps, but in the song "Proto Culture", he talks about getting calluses from playing ''Asteroids'', using the Power Glove, not being able to beat the original ''VideoGame/NinjaGaiden'' because his mom wouldn't answer the phone, owning the first issue of Nintendo Power with maps of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZelda'', bragging about his collection of rare Sega games, playing ''VideoGame/BushidoBlade 2'' and ''VideoGame/{{Tenchu}}'', the output of Creator/{{Capcom}} and {{Creator/SNK}}, importing ''VideoGame/{{Xenogears}}'' from Japan, killing cops in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAuto'' and getting a UsefulNotes/SegaDreamcast before anyone else did. Unsurprisingly, this track and so many others use a lot of video game samples.

* Geoff Wigington of Music/{{Waterparks}} loves Franchise/LegendOfZelda, Franchise/{{Pokemon}}, and Creator/{{Nintendo}} in general, he's also been seen wearing Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog and Franchise/KingdomHearts merch. During a Kerrang Reader Interview, when they were asked about their chances of beating the ex-bassists in the "Gloom Boys" video, Geoff gave us this gem when the band was in the process of answering: "If you're confident you can boost your stats at least 10 points in a fight." Must be a StatusBuff. He even goes to conventions!

* Music/TheRamones were notably proud that apart from the usual punks, their fanbase was made up of Freaks and Geeks, as their music wasn't very popular in an era of overblown stadium rock bands like Music/{{Boston}} and Music/{{Kiss}}. A lot of their songs dealt with teenage alienation and they were notably freaks and geeks themselves (Though maybe not Johnny, though he was an anti-social outcast too). One of their most notable songs is ''Pinhead'', a general tribute to their fans that also pays respect to the film ''Film/{{Freaks}}'': ''Gabba, Gabba, We accept you, we accept you, ONE OF US!''

* Chilli of Music/{{TLC}} is a huge fan of Wrestling/{{WWE}}. She's been seen at live WWE shows on some occasions, including ''Wrestling/{{WrestleMania}} 28''.
