Bargarn was in an undescribed "outer realm" when whatever calamity occurred that [[spoiler:wiped out his people]] and returned to find them gone. He caught the Corprus Disease shortly after and ended up in Fyr's Corprusarium. The two have become friends and Bagarn spends his time tinkering with and fixing up any Dwemer artifacts Fyr finds and brings him.

Yet despite all that (and their shared sociopathy), there is every indication that they maintained a genuine friendship, having been college buddies and coworkers prior to Wesker's defection and Birkin's subsequent mutation and death. As late as ''Wesker's Report'', the typically unemotional Wesker expresses both extreme distaste for Birkin's killer, U.S.S. agent HUNK, and a continued respect for his former colleague's ability, which is unusual for him.

Additionally, Fyr has befriended Yagrum Bagarn, [[spoiler:[[LastOfHisKind the last living]] [[OurDwarvesAreDifferent Dwemer]]]]. Bargarn was in an undescribed "outer realm" when whatever calamity occurred that [[spoiler:wiped out his people]] and returned to find them gone. He caught the Corprus Disease shortly after and ended up in Fyr's Corprusarium. The two have become friends and Bagarn spends his time tinkering with and fixing up any Dwemer artifacts Fyr finds and brings him.
** Between the events of ''[[VideoGame/TheElderScrollsIVOblivion Oblivion]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim Skyrim]]'', the [[OurElvesAreDifferent Altmer]]-led [[AntiHumanAlliance Aldmeri Dominion]] formed one of these with the [[CatFolk Khajiit]] of Elsweyr. The Dominion preferred to get the Khajiit to join as vassals by aiding them to develop trust rather than through conquest. Of course, there are self-serving aspects for the Altmer with this arrangement, they either exaggerated or [[BlatantLies blatantly lied]] about certain accomplishments in order to appeal to the Khajiit. Additionally, how much of the friendship is benevolence on the part of the Altmer and how much is the Altmer wanting to avoid the wrath of a race widely considered the CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass of Tamriel is up for reasonable debate.

Despite both being in different cliques, they are surprisingly very friendly towards each other, with Max admitting that she is very nice and friendly and Dana constantly inviting Max to many of the school's events.
* ''VideoGame/LostHome'': The main characters are an armadillo and a snake. Initially, the snake sees the armadillo as prey, but after a fire destroys their home, the two are forced to team up in their search for a new one.
* Shepard of the ''Franchise/MassEffect'' series with pretty much anybody apart from Ashley and Kaidan (fellow Alliance Marines -- work friends, basically) and maybe Jacob and Garrus. Mercenaries, an elderly asari, a near-sociopathic biotic, a deeply religious Drell assassin, even a Krogan clone.
** Shepard and Liara isn't at all far-fetched. [[FantasticRacism Pressly]] and Tali, on the other hand...
** Shepard's friendship with Garrus alone isn't necessarily odd. However, given some of the tensions that still exist between humans and the Turians, the ''closeness'' of it is. [[UndyingLoyalty Garrus' unquestionable and unfailing loyalty to Shepard]] is one of his most notable character traits.
** Joker and EDI, at least after [[spoiler:EDI's blocks are removed and she takes over the Normandy]]. The two even get a [[spoiler:RelationshipUpgrade]] in the third game after [[spoiler:EDI acquires a {{Fembot}} body]].
** Miranda and anyone, given her usual attitude towards friendship. Especially Jack when they reach VitriolicBestBuds status in the Citadel DLC for ''3'', given that in the second game they come very close to killing each other at least once, possibly more often.
** Tali and [[spoiler:Legion]] as the latter comes from [[spoiler:the race that nearly wiped out Tali's people 300 years earlier]], and the former does show signs of still being bitter about that.
** In the third game, Mordin and Wrex (if they're alive) get along surprisingly well, especially considering the fact that [[spoiler:Mordin was responsible for upgrading the [[SterilityPlague Genophage]] that drove the Krogans to near-extinction.]] At the end of the Tuchanka arc, [[spoiler:if Mordin sacrifices himself to disperse the Genophage cure]], Wrex suggests naming one of his and Eve's newborns after him ([[JerkWithAHeartOfGold maybe ]] [[VitriolicBestBuds a daughter]]).

* ''VideoGame/{{Overwatch}}'': One of the closest (And weirdest) set of buddies is Tracer and Winston. Tracer is a spunky and hyper ex-test pilot/turned Overwatch operative from England. Winston is a hyper-intelligent, reserved guy...on top of being a ''talking gorilla from the moon''. Despite their marked differences, they're two of the games closest friends.
* ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'' gives us a [[VillainousFriendship villainous example]] with Albert Wesker and William Birkin. Wesker's a physically imposing badass who wears his SunglassesAtNight, and rarely emotes unless it's time for a [[ChewingTheScenery scenery chewing]] speech. Birkin's a skinny MadScientist who panics easily and rarely stops talking. Wesker is likely {{asexual|ity}}; Birkin is HappilyMarried [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes and has a young daughter whom he honestly seems to care about.]] Wesker did Umbrella's wetwork before jumping ship; Birkin's their top researcher and almost never leaves the lab. Wesker is confident of his own superiority; Birkin's a paranoid who constantly needs to reinforce his ego. Yet despite all that (and their shared sociopathy), there is every indication that they maintained a genuine friendship, having been college buddies and coworkers prior to Wesker's defection and Birkin's subsequent mutation and death. As late as ''Wesker's Report'', the typically unemotional Wesker expresses both extreme distaste for Birkin's killer, U.S.S. agent HUNK, and a continued respect for his former colleague's ability, which is unusual for him.

** The Pyro and the Engineer. Like Heavy and Medic, their personalities appear to be opposites, but they appear to be close friends in and out of battle. Pyro is a {{Cloudcuckoolander}}, and Engineer is a down-home SouthernFriedGenius who appears to be the CloudcuckoolandersMinder. Even knowing the Pyro is, well, a PyroManiac, he still invites him to his house and reads him a Christmas story in one update comic. In gameplay, the Pyro is very good at rooting out Engineer's hard counter the Spy. They can also equip a melee weapon called The Homewrecker that allows them to remove Spy's sappers from Engineer's buildings, an ability only usually reserved for the Engineer himself. In the community Pyro's that tend to equip The Homewrecker are affectionately nicknamed "Pybros."
