One of THE bands of TheNineties (at least if you were British), Steps was a multi-chart topping pop band that lasted from 1997 - 2001, then reunited in 2011. The line-up from start to finish was Lisa Scott-Lee, Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards, Faye Tozer and Ian Watkins. Watkins was known as "H", which stands for "hyperactive".

Their biggest hit was ''Tragedy'' - a cover of the [[Music/TheBeeGees Bee Gees]] song, and the success of Steps' version means that ''Tragedy'' is largely CoveredUp in Britain. They also often considered as the British version of {{Music/ABBA}} for the 90s, as some of their songs have palpable influences from the Swedish group.

* SpotlightStealingSquad: Tensions apparently arose within the group when Claire's powerful soprano voice overshadowed the others, making her like the FaceOfTheBand while the others are relegated as back-up singers.

* SkunkStripe: Lisa and Claire respectively had blue and pink hair highlights during much of the third album's release.

* MistakenForPedophile: H, in November 2013.

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: The ''Say You'll Be Mine'' video's homage to ''Film/TheresSomethingAboutMary'' includes a scene in which Mary (played by Claire) thinks that Ted (played by Lee) has hairgel on his face, but it is actually his own cum. She proceeds to take some and put some in her hair. The single cover also features a still from this scene, with the "gel" keeping Claire's hair up.
