This failed, and Dark Marik bided his time, gaining strength, and driving Marik to further and further acts of cruelty in his quest to TakeOverTheWorld[[note]]including, but not limited to, kidnapping, MindRape, brainwashing, and attempted murder[[/note]]. Resurfacing when Marik's brother was defeated in the Battle City semifinals, Dark Marik exiled his better half from their shared body, then engaged Mai Valentine, The Spirit of the Millenium Ring (not a saint himself as you read below), and Joey Wheeler in a series of increasingly sadistic Shadowgames[[note]] Mai lost memories whenever a monster was destroyed, the Spirit of the Ring lost parts of his body, and Joey lost life energy[[/note]] that saw all three damned to the Shadowrealm. His right-hand man, Zure, oversaw Brron's will, detaining anyone who defied him in internment camps while killing duelists who could be threats to him. The executions occurred at his fortress and involved releasing monsters at disarmed duelists while Brron himself and his minions watched the spectacle. After learning of Jaden's presence in his domain, Brron orchestrated a plot that involved turning Jaden evil by sacrificing all of his friends one by one with his set of "Wicked Doctrine" cards to create the "Super Fusion" card. After his defeat, Brron mocked Jaden by saying that he would never see his friends again before dying.

* Divne/Sayer is the leader of a group of duelists training to control and harness their psychic abilities in order to turn them into soldiers of war against the rest of humanity. His earliest duelist, Toby Tredwell, was unable to withstand the procedure meant to test his abilities. Believing him to be weak and useless, Sayer ordered the intensity of the electric shocks to be amplified, which caused the young boy's death. He also does his best to keep his prized duelist Akiza secluded from anyone outside the Arcadia Movement to keep her full of hate and resentment at the world for his goals, as well as hide his own secret motives. To this end, he gasses Luna, Leo, Yanagi and Bolt Tanner when they come to him for aid against the Dark Singers. Then he threatens Leo's life in a psychic duel to test if he has powers like his twin sister Luna. Later that day he has another Psychic duel with and murders Carly Carmine by [[DestinationDefenestration sending her through a window]] with a direct attack, kick-starting her rebirth into a Dark Signer. He then returns from his DisneyDeath at the hands of Carly, posing as a security agent to attack Yusei and Mina. When it explodes, Yusei and Kalin fall off the mountain, while Nico and West are unconscious on the ground. Lawton takes them back to Crash Town, renaming it Lawton Town after Barb and him double cross his brother Malcolm. Later, not satisfied with the number of workers in the mines, he and Barb begin forcing their henchmen to Duel for their survival, which is stopped by Yusei and Kalin. Once he does start to lose his 2-on-1 handicap match against Yusei and Kalin, he quits the duel and tries to run away, but not before he abandons Barb to her fate and set off explosives in the town.

Once he does start to lose, he and his sister, Barb attempt to throw the duel and run away, but not before he [[KickTheSonOfABitch abandons the manipulative bitch of a sister, Barb]] to her fate and setting off explosives in the town. Thankfully, Kiryu beats him and sends him to prison.

* Vector himself also qualifies, [[spoiler:seeing how he gleefully manipulated Faker into almost destroying all of existence by using the latter's love for his sons. In addition to this, in episode 94, he destroys several buildings and puts peoples lives in jeopardy JUST to get Yuma's attention.]]

Aside from defeating him while he possessed Faker, there was absolutely no reason for Vector to go to such extreme, disgusting lengths to destroy Yuma in such an emotional and psychological manner. Even his fellow Barians seem disgusted with him or unwilling to work with him.]]

* Yami Marik, a split personality off of the original Marik. Born out of Marik's pain and hatred towards his fate as a tombkeeper, Yami Marik is brutal, depraved and sadistic without end. The first thing he does upon his original creation/release is [[spoiler:kill [[AssholeVictim Marik's father]] brutally by skinning him alive with a bronze knife within the Millennium Rod, then immediately try to do the same to Marik's only friend, Rishid.]] When he got loose again during the finals of Battle City, he [[MoralEventHorizon imprisoned Mai and the real Marik within labyrinths of their own loneliness]] (and in Mai's case, this is after ''severely'' [[MindRape mind-raping her]] in their duel), attempted to murder Rishid several times, nearly killed Marik's older sister Isis, was knowingly roasting people with attacks from the Winged Dragon of Ra and set up a shadow game meant to actually kill the loser. His deck is even based on torture devices.
* Yami Bakura, the [[SuperPoweredEvilSide evil alter ego]] of Bakura, who is the reincarnation of an Egyptian bandit who fought the Pharaoh/Yami Yugi. His first acts included attempting to kill/send Yugi and his friends to the Shadow Realm in order to possess the [[MacGuffin Millennium Puzzle]]. He loses, but comes back soon after to try to use Mokuba as a new host until Tristan saves him. In Battle City, he enters the competition by sadistically sending three Duelists to hell/Shadow Realm. In the final season, he goes from recurring antagonist to BigBad and tries to unleash the dark god Zorc upon the world, with the intent of killing or enslaving everyone.

Aside from defeating him while he possessed Faker, there was absolutely no reason for Vector to go to such extreme, disgusting lengths to destroy Yuma in such an emotional and psychological manner. Even his fellow Barians seem disgusted with him or unwilling to work with him.]]

The first thing he does upon his original creation/release is [[spoiler:kill [[AssholeVictim Marik's father]] brutally by skinning him alive with a bronze knife within the Millennium Rod, then immediately try to do the same to Marik's only friend, Rishid.]] When he got loose again during the finals of Battle City, he [[MoralEventHorizon imprisoned Mai and the real Marik within labyrinths of their own loneliness]] (and in Mai's case, this is after ''severely'' [[MindRape mind-raping her]] in their duel), attempted to murder Rishid several times, nearly killed Marik's older sister Isis, was knowingly roasting people with attacks from the Winged Dragon of Ra and set up a shadow game meant to actually kill the loser. His deck is even based on torture devices.
** Yami Bakura, the [[SuperPoweredEvilSide evil alter ego]] of Bakura, who is the reincarnation of an Egyptian bandit who fought the Pharaoh/Yami Yugi. His first acts included attempting to kill/send Yugi and his friends to the Shadow Realm in order to possess the [[MacGuffin Millennium Puzzle]]. He loses, but comes back soon after to try to use Mokuba as a new host until Tristan saves him. In Battle City, he enters the competition by sadistically sending three Duelists to hell/Shadow Realm. In the final season, he goes from recurring antagonist to BigBad and tries to unleash the dark god Zorc upon the world, with the intent of killing or enslaving everyone.

** Brron, Mad King of the Dark World, is one even though he's only in a few episodes. He kidnaps Judai's friends and plays a card that kills them/sends them to the stars in front of him, eventually bringing out a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Judai/Jaden

** Divine/Sayer. When we see him duel Rua/Leo for the first time, and [[spoiler: how cruelly he dealt with Carly,]] we see that he's a jerk. [[FromBadToWorse Then he gets worse.]] [[spoiler:Turns out, only did he torture Misty's younger brother to death in a series of extremely dubious "tests" and try to turn Aki into a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds, he framed poor Aki for the former and LAUGHED ABOUT IT.]] He is the most monstrous villain in 5D's, a series that thrives on the WellIntentionedExtremist theme. He gets a very satisfying KarmicDeath when Misty decides to let her [[EldritchAbomination Earthbound Immortal]] [[spoiler:eat him alive]].
** In fact, other than creatures that are MadeOfEvil, or ones that EldritchAbominations or other demonic beings, Divine may well be the most vile villain in the history of the franchise. That fact that he is fully human (and sane) and capable of such cruelity makes him very much an exception to the rule with villains on this show.
** Lotten on the other hand, is a tyrant lording over a small western style town called Crash Town, who forces those he's defeated to join him or face slavery in the mines. Once he does get into an inconclusive match with Yusei, he actually sets up dynamite to kill them in the resulting cave-in, including an innocent child. Unsatisfied with the lack of slaves, he forces his own men to duel for their own freedom, which is stopped by Yusei and Kiryu. Once he does start to lose, he and his sister, Barb attempt to throw the duel and run away, but not before he [[KickTheSonOfABitch abandons the manipulative bitch of a sister, Barb]] to her fate and setting off explosives in the town. Thankfully, Kiryu beats him and sends him to prison.

** The Orichalcos and the Great Leviathon count as well. They were the ones responsible for Dartz's actions in the first place; making them responsible for the destruction of the great city of Atlantis, millions of people losing their souls, and countless lives being completely ruined.
** Gozaburo Kaiba.. When [=KaibaCorp=] was a military firm, he profitted off death and enjoyed it. He frequently sold weapons to both sides of a conflict with the intent to prolong it, simply so he could continue to profit. After the death of his physical body, he used his son Noah as an unwitting pawn in a plot to TakeOverTheWorld by launching missile strikes against governments, hacking into every computer system, and ruling from the virtual world (and pushes aside Noah in the process, regarding him as worthless, an act that later proves to be one of many mistakes that doom his plan).
