* ''ComicBook/MartianManhunter'': Commander Blanx appeared only twice in UsefulNotes/{{the Silver Age|of Comic Books}}, but he made up for limited appearances with not rage, or hate, but pure, [[LackOfEmpathy cold-blooded]] [[TheSociopath sociopathy]]. For reasons known only to himself, Blanx restarted the war between the Pole Dwellers (Pale/White Martians) and the Desert Dwellers (Green Martians). Meeting his adversary, J'onn J'onnz in single combat, Blanx won through cheating and exiled him; he later journeyed to earth and tried to kill J'onn during his exile there, resulting in numerous human deaths. Where Blanx really [[MoralEventHorizon crossed the line]], however, was in his rule of Mars. Already dictator the entire planet, Blanx used alien technology to take control of the Blue Flame that provided Mars' only source of heat, and set the entire planet ablaze. When J'onn J'onnz returned home, he found his family and friends dead, his civilisation in ruins, his planet unlivable, and all Martians, Pole Dwellers and Desert Dwellers alike, on the verge of extinction. When J'onn confronted Blanx and demanded to know why, Blanx explained that he had been contacted by an offworld mining corporation that wanted to buy Mars, but that "according to the aliens' code, I could only sell if I were the last living Martian." Blanx did them one better, killing not only every Martian, but Mars itself, desolating the entire planet out of [[OnlyInItForTheMoney sheer]] {{greed}} and [[ItsAllAboutMe apathy]]. In one issue, Blanx [[KnightOfCerebus altered the tone]] of the Martian Manhunter stories from light-hearted sixties fare, to introspective angst, wiping out his own people in the name of his checkbook, and leaving J'onn alone. In terms of utter soullessness, no Martian Manhunter villain has ever surpassed him.
* ''ComicBook/TeenTitans'': [[BigRedDevil Trigon the Terrible]], ComicBook/{{Raven}}'s ArchnemesisDad and a GodOfEvil, is an interdimensional [[DemonLordsAndArchDevils demonic overlord]] who reigns over an empire where countless souls are kept in horrible bondage, with those who dare to resist--"resistance" can be defined as "don't do as ordered quick enough"--being ruthlessly exterminated. When she refused to join him, Trigon destroyed her home world, Azarath, before [[TheCorrupter corrupting Raven's soul]] and launching a campaign of destruction on Earth, forcing Raven to do battle with her own friends. During his [[ComicBook/TheTerrorOfTrigon invasion of Earth]], Trigon reduced the island of New York to a graveyard, [[AndIMustScream fusing the bodies of four million inhabitants together as part of an ever-growing spire of writhing, tormented souls]]. Trigon ultimately intended to merge Earth with his own dimension, [[OmnicidalManiac happily condemning billions of lives to annihilation]]. Willing to exterminate entire worlds to make an example, and with trillions of deaths to his name, Trigon is the most terrifying and wicked foe the Teen Titans have ever faced.

* ''ComicBook/{{Aquaman}}'': [[ArchEnemy Black Manta]], real name [[ScaryBlackMan David]], makes his living as a [[RuthlessModernPirates brutal]] [[SubmarinePirates pirate]], often [[PsychoForHire in the employ of others]], and is obsessed with destroying Aquaman at all costs. To this end, Manta [[WouldHurtAChild killed Aquaman's infant son]] by trapping him in a chamber that suffocated the boy, despite Arthur's best efforts to save him. Manta continues to torment his nemesis by targeting and murdering those he can. Not even Manta's own family is exempt from his cruelty: his own son, the new Aqualad, was the target of Manta's wrath when Manta [[OffingTheOffspring attempted to murder him]] with zealous hatred, for no other reason than rejecting the path Manta wanted for him. In ''ComicBook/BrightestDay'', Manta tries to go straight, opening up a fish market, but when the customers rejoice that Aquaman is alive, Manta murders them with a knife, before burning down his own house and resuming his quest for vengeance. Manta is a vicious, hateful murderer who would poison the entire ocean just for the chance to hurt his nemesis.
* ComicBook/{{Darkseid}}: Born Prince Uxas, he is one of the ComicBook/NewGods, is the ultimate GodOfEvil in the DC Universe, and is the TropeCodifier for DystopiaJustifiesTheMeans. As EvilOverlord of [[{{Mordor}} Apokolips]], Darkseid subjects its denizens to hellish conditions with the overwhelming majority of the population ill-treated slaves. His Elite fare no better as Darkseid is [[BadBoss all too willing to subject them to hideous tortures or obliteration]] should [[YouHaveFailedMe they fail him]]. Darkseid detests all that is good in the universe and seeks to extend his influence everywhere he can. While he once loved someone, his [[EvilMatriarch mother]], [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Heggra]], wanting to make him evil killed Suli, [[StartOfDarkness helping turn Darkseid]] into the GalacticConqueror we know him as (but not before [[GoneHorriblyRight he had Heggra poisoned]]). During ''ComicBook/FinalCrisis'', Darkseid is dying, and so wants to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy the multiverse and all life in it]] as [[TakingYouWithMe a final gesture]]. He [[OffingTheOffspring kills his son]] Orion to gain dominion over Earth. Once there, he enslaved the minds of everyone he could touch, turning them into savage parodies of themselves, intending to as he said "murder their souls and take them to hell without end." His ultimate motive is to use the Anti-Life Equation to [[TheEvilsOfFreeWill rob everybody of free will]] and turn them all into mindless zombies who [[AGodAmI worship him as a god]] while he tortures them eternally, [[ForTheEvulz all for fun]]. Just as bloodthirsty and monstrous as any of those who serve him, Darkseid combines [[FauxAffablyEvil urbane sophistication, limitless cruelty and insatiable drive for power]], and is the one single villain that [[TheDreaded all the heroes despise and fear]].
* ''Franchise/TheFlash'':
** The Barry Allen Flash's ArchEnemy is Eobard Thawne, the Reverse Flash, AKA Professor Zoom. An obsessive fan of Barry, Eobard managed to duplicate Barry's powers. He then attempted to replace Barry, before [[StalkerWithACrush stalking]] and apparently [[IfICantHaveYou murdering his wife]], Iris Allen, when she rejected his advances. Eventually he drives Barry to kill him to save his new fiancé before he can kill her. However, Thawne was resurrected years later, and has gone out of his way to cross every line he can find since. Using his time travel powers to edit his life, Thawne kills his [[CainAndAbel brother]] (who he blamed for holding him back), his [[SelfMadeOrphan parents]] (who weren't supportive of his obsession with the Speed Force), a professional rival, and [[MurderTheHypotenuse every man that a woman he is interested in has ever dated]]; he then traumatises her as a child when she still spurns him, taking EvilIsPetty to new and exciting levels. He kills Johnny Quick shortly after his own resurrection, tries to force Barry Allen, newly returned to life, into becoming the [[GrimReaper Black Flash]], and during the ''Flashpoint'' crossover, alters the time stream further and further to make Barry's life as miserable as possible. In addition, in ''The Flash: Rebirth'' he kills Allen's mother, among other acts, thus indirectly causing ''Flashpoint''. He has no FreudianExcuse or mitigating factor for these actions, but is instead just a [[ItsAllAboutMe selfish man who plans to get what he wants at the expense of everyone else]].
** The most infamous criminal in the history of Gorilla City, [[KillerGorilla Grodd]] was driven into exile after killing the city's benevolent leaders and ruthlessly plundered the mind of his friend Solovar to discover the secrets of mind control. Combining a ruthless brilliance with a gorilla's power, Grodd established himself as a feared player of the underworld. He would brutally murder anyone who stood in his way or just dispose of humans for the enjoyment, considering them far inferior to himself. Grodd's mental prowess is such that he enjoys dominating and twisting the minds of others to feral savagery or into sycophants for his ego. In battle, he is also highly sadistic - for example, crippling Hunter Zolomon, who recalled with terror how Grodd treated him like a toy he could break. To date, Grodd has made no fewer than eighteen attempts to completely wipe out all of humanity to purge what he sees as a lesser race.
* ''ComicBook/GreenArrow'': Stanley Dover Sr. was the [[HiddenVillain secret]] [[ArcVillain main villain]] of the [[StoryArc Quiver arc]]. We first meet Stanley Sr. when Green Arrow rescues him from a mugger. Stanley Sr. comes off as a [[BitchInSheepsClothing kindly old man]] and even becomes Green Arrow's assistant. However Stanley Sr. has a secret, he has been a [[Main/ReligionOfEvil Satanist]] since the 1950s. His wife left him when he suggested they [[HumanSacrifice sacrifice]] their first born [[OffingTheOffspring infant]] to a demon to gain [[ImmortalityImmorality immortality]]. No longer married, Stanley Sr. traveled the world and studied the occult. Decades later he returned to America and moved to Star City. His daughter Shelia now grown up, made contact with him. Wanting to remain respected by the community, Stanley Sr. pretended to be a loving father. Shelia would often have Stanley Sr. baby sit her infant son, Stanley Dover Jr. One day, while baby sitting Stanley Jr., Stanley Sr. attempted to summon the [[ComicBook/StanleyAndHisMonster Beast With No Name]] and bind it to him. However the Beast bonded with Stanley Jr. instead. Years later, when Stanley Jr. was a teenager, Stanley Sr. found that the Beast had bonded to his grandson. So Stanley Sr. kidnapped his grandson and began to torture and starve him to force the Beast out. Stanley Sr. began to [[WouldHurtAChild murder children]] and feed their blood to his grandson. Stanley Sr. eventually [[TheReveal revealed his true colors]] to Green Arrow, planning on [[GrandTheftMe transferring his soul into Green Arrow's body]] to further his power mad quest. Stanley Sr. also plans to [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil rape]] Mia Dearden, a former teenage prostitute Green Arrow had recently rescued.
* ''ComicBook/GreenLantern'':
** [[MadScientist Krona]], also known as Entropy, is a self-styled scientist and a rogue Maltusian hell-bent on imposing his ideal of "order" on reality. Inadvertently responsible for the creation of the multiverse and evil itself through his experiments--most prominently the omnicidal [[ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths Anti-Monitor]] upon the creation of the antimatter universe--Krona's covert experimentation on the Manhunters, the soldiers of the Guardians of the Universe, resulted in them going haywire and decimating countless lives through Sector 666, leaving only five people alive. Eventually banished and reduced to primeval energy, Krona assumed the name of Entropy and, still intent on [[ForScience continuing his experiments]], took service under Nekron, intending to release him into the living universe. Later brought back into the universe through the efforts of Maltusian Controllers, Krona enslaved and then obliterated them, attempting to wage war on the consciousness of the universe, even destroying Earth to this cause--and attempting to destroy its soul in a fit of existential pique when it challenged his conceptions of the universe. By the time of ''ComicBook/BrightestDay'', Krona enslaves Parallax and the emotional entities to force his will upon all creation, taking over the Green Lantern Corps and destroying thousands of lives to his cause. Possessed of [[AGodAmI such a god complex]] that he is willing to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy entire universes]], Krona's only true desire to slake his unending thirst for knowledge, and remains one of the greatest threats in the DCU.
** [[ANaziByAnyOtherName Ayria]], from ''Green Lantern Corps Quarterly'' #7's one-shot "Triumph of the Will", is a vicious, corrupt Green Lantern who uses his powers to oppress the residents of Aegri Somnia. Ayria has his forces brutally slaughter their way through the rebelling yellows on Aegri Somnia 2, resulting on millions of casualties on both sides, before establishing a holocaust and sending the yellows who remain into labor camps where they slowly and agonizingly perish by the millions to [[HumanResources fuel Ayria's power battery]]. A [[TheCaligula paranoid despot]] unable to take any form of perceived challenge to his rule, Ayria viciously tortures to death several members of his staff--including his own brother--for reasons as varied as apparent treachery to as petty to having no faith in his rule, and ultimately orders every single remaining yellow to be sent to the camps and executed after torturing one who swallows his ring--ultimately resulting in Ayria's downfall when the ring resonates with the dead yellow's will to resurrect the billions Ayria has killed to tear him to bloody shreds. An unrelenting dictator, Ayria proves even the ostensibly righteous Green Lanterns aren't immune to pure evil in their ranks.
** Mongul II is a case of OverlordJr at its worst, and has dedicated his life to aping and surpassing his equally unpleasant father, [[Monster/{{Superman}} Mongul I]]. During his first appearance in Green Lantern, Mongul II used the Black Mercy plants to trap Hal Jordan and [[ComicBook/GreenArrow Oliver Queen]] in a fantasy world; he subsequently murdered his sister, Mongal, and kept her corpse as a trophy. When Mongul II really comes into his own, however, is after gaining a Sinestro Corps Ring (by murdering its owner). Taking control of the Black Mercy homeworld, Mongul II uses his ring to alter the genetics of the Black Mercies so that they will trap their victims in their worst nightmares, instead of their ideal fantasies. He coerces the benevolent Mother Mercy into aiding him by threatening to make her eat her own children if she does not. Defeated by the Green Lanterns, Mongul II escapes from prison, seizes control of the Sinestro Corps by killing anybody who disagrees with him (or even annoys him in the slightest), rips out [[TheDragon Arkillo]]'s tongue, and overruns the planet Daxam, slaughtering or enslaving the population. Beaten off by Sodam Yat and Arisia, Mongul II later arrives on Korugar, and is in the process of having the citizenry strung up along the streets when his reign is finally halted by the return of Sinestro.
** ''ComicBook/BlackestNight'': [[BigBad Nekron]], Lord of the Unliving and the face of all death within the DCU, is an [[EldritchAbomination entity]] that eventually proves himself to be far too {{sadist}}ic a being to simply be a cosmic force doing its job. The force behind the [[RevenantZombie necromantic Black Lanterns]], Nekron implicitly influences William Hand into killing himself and his entire family to become his tether into the living world in his bid to enact the "Blackest Night," a [[OmnicidalManiac state of eternal death imposed upon all creation]]. Nekron reveals the constant death and resurrection within the universe is a matter of his influence, making those who die and revive sleeper agents--keeping them aware and conscious in their own bodies--and eventually simply turning them all into Black Lanterns, twisting them into horrible, undead mockeries of the people they once were. Through the Black Lanterns, Nekron unleashes a wave of death across everything in his path, turning more and more into Black Lanterns and intent on never stopping until all is silent.
* ''ComicBook/{{Hawkman}}'': [[TheDreaded Onimar Synn]] is the strongest of the [[DemonLordsAndArchdevils Seven Devils]] who plagued the history of Thanagar and one of the planet's greatest and most powerful entities. A SoulEating demon who nourishes himself on suffering, Synn resurrects countless years after his first defeat and takes over Thanagar, slaughtering its high council and devouring the souls of its populace by the thousands to fuel his undead army, whilst executing thousands more by dropping them from the point of the flying city he takes over. Once more revived by his depraved priest in time for the Rann-Thanagar War, Synn exploits the conflict to devour the dead and dying of Thanagar's populace, impeding the efforts of Kyle Rayner and Adam Strange to stop him by trying to suffocate hundreds of innocents reserved in storage to slake his appetite, before mounting an assault on Rann to devour its populace as well, slaughtering them by the masses and ultimately striving to use their technology to [[GalacticConqueror go on]] and [[OmnicidalManiac consume every living soul in the universe]].
* ''ComicBook/{{Hitman}}'':
** [[ArchnemesisDad Tom Dawson]], father of [[TheHero Tommy Monaghan]], is a simple Irish businessman who made a name for himself via a series of land deals. Also a vicious [[ItsAllAboutMe egomaniac]], Dawson was the frequent client of the local prostitute named Katie. The first time they met, Dawson informed her he knew her trick to shame her hypocritical clients who persecuted her: naming her children after them. Dawson warned her never to try that with him. When Katie became pregnant, and Dawson heard she was considering to name the baby 'Tommy,” he [[DisproportionateRetribution burned down her house]] with her [[WouldHurtAChild infant daughter and two young twin sons]] still inside. Katie was forced to leave her daughter Frances at an orphanage to save her life and fled to America where Dawson found her and butchered her with a knife. Assuming the baby died in the cold, Dawson went back to Ireland until 30 years later when Frances found Tommy and brought him to her old home. Dawson attempted to have Tommy killed and brutally murdered Frances the same way as he had her mother. When Tommy confronted Dawson, Dawson showed no remorse, snarling that Tommy had no right to call him his father and that he and Katie were nothing but gutter trash preying on “respectable men” like himself. After Tommy said that Katie had simply recognized Dawson as a [[TheBully bully]] and [[DirtyCoward coward]] and stood up to him the one way she knew how, Dawson's only response was "to hell with her," finally prompting Tommy to shoot him.
** Mr. Truman, an unassuming, mild-mannered little CIA agent who is out to destroy metahumans (if he can't control them), makes his career on blackmail and murder, but it's not until the final arc where he shows the darkness inside himself. Truman has human beings injected with a special metahuman formula to create a personal army of metahumans but while the formula works, it [[MindRape steals the minds from its subjects]]. Tommy becomes aware of this when he rescues a young woman who had been a witness Truman had tried to silence by unleashing one of the monsters on her without care for collateral damage. When he realizes the creatures still [[AndIMustScream retain their human minds and are locked in a corner of their heads]], incapable of stopping their actions, Truman orders them to be set loose on one another with the resulting carnage filmed [[ForTheEvulz for his amusement]].
* ''ComicBook/JonahHex'': [[MadDoctor William "Sawbones" Zimmerman]] was a brief but memorable foe of Jonah Hex. A former doctor during the Civil War, Zimmerman made a name for himself via horrible experiments and live dissections of prisoners of war, with his apprentices and himself also carrying out the same vivisections on blacks. After the war, Sawbones takes to kidnapping and murdering innocent young women without even the pretense it is for [[ForTheEvulz anything but enjoyment]]. When Hex falls into his hands, the doctor attempts to [[ColdBloodedTorture torture him to death]] as well, revealing he has a group of like-minded fellows he's trained that he intends to spread into the country, killing those they can via horrible means all [[ForScience in the name of twisted "science."]]

** Felix Faust is one of the most power hungry sorcerers alive. Kicking off his career by selling his infant son's soul for his own ability, Faust committed many acts of cruel murder and torture to fuel his black magic. When he finally realized he could no longer bargain with his own tainted soul, Faust resorted to harvesting the soul of an innocent little girl to trade to demons. Faust offered his assistance to Black Adam to help resurrect Black Adam's wife Isis, but deceived Adam into thinking Isis's revival had failed, while Faust kept a paralyzed Isis to serve as his personal sex toy.
** Creator/GrantMorrison's ''[[Franchise/JusticeLeagueOfAmerica JLA: Earth-2]]'' brought us ComicBook/{{Brainiac}}'s [[MirrorUniverse Antimatter Universe]] counterpart. An organic syntellect who was captured by Ultraman and forced to be his slave, Brainiac schemed to not only escape his bonds, but to upgrade himself into an "Nth Level Intelligence." In order to do this, he swapped a plane in the Antimatter Universe for one in the Matter Universe, killing all the passengers on both in the process, and triggering a war between the Justice League and the Crime Syndicate. While the teams were busy fighting, Brainiac set in motion a plan to merge the Matter and Antimatter Universes, a move that would have resulted in the [[OmnicidalManiac annihilation of all reality]], plotting to use the energy from the resultant explosion to complete his upgrade and [[AGodAmI become a god]]. Willing to destroy all life in order to better himself, Antimatter Brainiac was every bit as vile as his Matter Universe twin.
* [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Dr. Arthur Light]] was a man with one singular passion: [[SerialRapist his absolute love of rape]]. A supervillain with powers over energy, Light had been considered a joke for a time. It was revealed in ComicBook/IdentityCrisis that the reason for this was because Zatanna had given him a magic lobotomy, because Light had snuck aboard the League's satellite and found the Elongated Man's wife Sue Dibny there alone, and took the chance to violently rape her. After he regains his mind, Light returns to his favorite habits. He also stole the powers from the heroic Dr. Light, Kimiyo Hoshi, comparing his violation of her to a rape in of itself. Becoming steadily more sadistic and depraved, Light enjoyed hurting every superhero he could and threatened to rape their loved ones as he had Sue Dibny. When the Spectre, the spirit of God's vengeance itself, visited Light to punish him in ''ComicBook/FinalCrisis'', he was in the midst of preparing to rape a group of girls he'd dressed as heroines from the ComicBook/TeenTitans to satisfy his hatred of and lust for them.
* Major Force: Clifford Zmeck, the EvilCounterpart of [[ComicBook/CaptainAtom Nathaniel Adam]] and a RoguesGalleryTransplant to [[ComicBook/GreenLantern Kyle Rayner]], is living proof that power in the hands of the wrong people breeds utter catastrophe. A [[AxCrazy psychopath]] guilty of rape and murder long before earning his moniker of Major Force, Zmeck was launched forward decades into the future after being infused with alien metals and was enlisted by the government as an operative. Dubbed "Major Force," time and time again he demonstrated that he had absolutely no qualms with abusing his own powers, brutally strangling the girlfriend of Rayner to death and [[StuffedInTheFridge leaving her remains in Kyle's fridge to taunt him]]. Soon after this, Force apparently killed Green Lantern Arisia Rrab out of petty revenge by savagely crushing her skull--leaving Guy Gardner a taunting note about how she died slowly--before moving on to tear Gardner's heart out and incinerate his own employer, solely so he could enjoy his new freedom. Though seemingly killed by Gardner, Force would regenerate and resurface, responding to Power Girl severing his hands by unleashing a wave of atomic energy that nearly obliterated Tokyo and [[MindRape playing a sadistic mind game with Kyle by apparently murdering his grandmother in an identical way to how he killed his girlfriend]]--before revealing he'd simply used a prop to mess with Kyle. Unpredictable to the point where he [[AnArmAndALeg ripped off one of his nominal teammates' arms]] and beat him to death with it, and completely willing to murder both innocents and his own allies for any given reason he could think of, Force's own summation of himself as "Hell on Earth" is an appropriate title for such a wantonly cruel madman.
* ''ComicBook/{{Manhunter}}'': [[ArchnemesisDad Walter "Walt" Pratt]] was the [[BastardBastard illegitimate son]] of the Justice Society heroes Phantom Lady and Iron Munroe. Growing up in a series of foster homes, Walt gained a streak of [[HeManWomanHater violent misogyny]] that manifested in brutally killing women later in life. [[DomesticAbuse Abusing]] and eventually murdering his own wife, Walt was sent to prison for the majority of his daughter [[TheProtagonist Kate]]'s life. When Kate was an adult with a young son, Walt returned to her life, revealing he was dying of bone cancer. Seeking to extend his life, Walt tried to kidnap his own grandson Ramsey to harvest his bone marrow to save his own life while paying the two supervillains he hired to do the transplant with Kate's ex-husband Peter, allowing the villains to torture him to death on camera. When he learned Ramsey was not a match, he tried to blackmail Kate to sacrifice herself in the transplant by threatening to beat Peter to death using Ramsey. When he realized there was no further way to survive, Walt proceeded to attempt to kill both [[OffingTheOffspring Kate]] and [[WouldHurtAChild Ramsey]] just to ensure his whole bloodline would be extinct.
* ''ComicBook/MartianManhunter'': In Post-Crisis continuity, J'onn's first foe--his own [[EvilTwin brother]], [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Malefic]]--was also one of the worst. Malefic engineered a psychic plague that incinerated the rest of the Green Martian race out of nothing but spite and envy at being the only Green Martian without telepathy; the reason he's not a telepath is because he committed MindRape, an unthinkable crime in Green Martian society, and was punished by having his psychic powers and memory stripped away. So Malefic committed genocide on his own race over a punishment that he wholly deserved. As if this wasn't enough, Malefic was so bent on ruining J'onn's life after the latter defeated him that he followed him to Earth and murdered Karen Smith, J'onn's (as Detective John Jones) partner on the police force. This was the last straw for J'onn and he threw Malefic into the sun. The saddest part about all of this is that J'onn was the only person who was ever sympathetic to Malefic because they were brothers.
* Peter "Mort" Mortimer, aka Scavenger and later Barracuda, stands out as one of the most horrifying minor villains in the DC universe. Originally appearing as a dangerous, if corny, villain of Aquaman, his list of crimes included attempting to poison an entire ocean and kill numerous people, among them [[WouldHurtAChild a child]]. Mort seemingly took a turn for the better when he made a HeelFaceTurn to save children's lives, but this didn't last very long, as Mort was later revealed to be a despicable child rapist who rapes young boys, records then sells the acts, and will often rip the children's hearts out for fun. When confronted by an enraged Hawkman and Aquaman, the latter of whom thought Mort was a "friend", Mort shows nothing but smug glee at his crimes, with him brushing them off as nothing more than him having "urges" he needed to satisfy.
* ''ComicBook/TheOutsiders'': Mr. Tanner, from the ''Wanted'' arc, manages to occupy a special field of depravity despite being a [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters normal human with no superhuman powers]]. Mr. Tanner runs an [[SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil international slavery ring]], with a focus on [[WouldHurtAChild young children]]; countless children are abducted from across the globe to be painfully branded and serve as abused {{sex slave}}s for years on end at the hands of Tanner and his buyers. Having perpetuated the ring of pedophilic rape and torture for years, Tanner catches the eye of one of his previous victims--Grace Chou, who suffered under his abuses for three years and is now a fully-grown superhuman--and goads her into coming back into his grasp by arranging the murder of an innocent man and kidnapping the young daughter of Arsenal to be turned into a sex slave. Tanner's atrocities are a dark reminder of similar incidents happening every day in real life, and despite being an incredibly minor villain in the long run, Tanner still stands out as one of the most realistically depraved characters in the DC universe.
* ''ComicBook/SecretSix'':
** [[SamusIsAGirl Junior]], daughter of the first Ragdoll, is a crime boss so depraved and ruthless even Intergang gives her a wide berth. Famed for her cruelty and monstrousness, Junior routinely offers her victim [[SadisticChoice a choice of dying horribly or letting Junior kill their families]]. When most choose the second choice, Junior records it, along with the victim's horrible death, and sends it to the families. Having obtained a card that is literally a pass out of hell, Junior kills and tortures countless people, [[DepravedBisexual raping men and women alike]]. When the card is stolen, Junior attempts to have her sins absolved by a priest, only to painfully kill the man when he refuses. Junior captures Bane of the Secret Six, who has the card, and [[MutilationInterrogation tortures him]] with scissors and bricks to gain the location of the others. At the end, Junior [[VillainousBreakdown loses control]] and attempts to slaughter every villain present when they see her mutilated true appearance, even her own brother Peter/Ragdoll II. Despite [[FreudianExcuse her backstory of her father having molested her]], Junior is afforded no sympathy, knowing what a depraved monster she truly is and committing countless evil deeds because [[CardCarryingVillain she loves it]] and feels she can get away with anything due to the card in her possession.
** [[KnightTemplar Mr. Smyth]] from the the "Depths" arc is a man with a radical plan to "better" the world: Bring back the institution of slavery, as it is what "great nations" are built upon. Smyth takes in the slaves and forces them to work in horrible conditions, leading to their deaths from overwork, cave-ins or gas. When a slave named Maria refuses to work any more, Smyth has his assistant begin slaughtering innocent slaves en masse until a broken Maria promises to keep working. Smyth later tricks Deadshot into murdering Maria by offering her "freedom" if she can run to safety before telling Deadshot she is an escaping dangerous prisoner. Smyth also keeps Amazons as slaves with the intent to force them into servitude or death as well, and shows no concern over anything but the restoration of the institution of slavery.
* ''ComicBook/{{Shazam}}'': Most of Captain Marvel's villains are difficult to take seriously. That can't be said of Mister Mind, a two-inch long [[PuppeteerParasite parasitic worm]] from Venus. As his people's advance scout on Earth, Mister Mind took control of Captain Marvel's cousin, Sinclair Batson, mutating him into a monster. When Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel foiled Mind's plans, the worm vowed revenge, and [[GrandTheftMe bodyjacking]] Sarge Steel of the Department of Metahuman Affairs, set in motion a plan for a [[NukeEm nuclear holocaust]]. Incubating his larvae in sores within Sinclair's body, Mind took mental control of his offspring after they were born and had them in turn infest nuclear technicians, army officers, and politicians, while he himself used Sarge Steel's authority to obliterate Fairfield, Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel's hometown. Defeated before he could [[KillAllHumans end the human race]], Mind broke out again during the events of ''52'', and after mutating into his adult form of The Hyperfly, tried to devour the totality of space/time, plotting to [[OmnicidalManiac end the multiverse]]. Motivated by nothing more than anger at Captain Marvel for embarassing him, Mind is as bad as The Big Red Cheese's RoguesGallery can get.
* ''Comicbook/{{Starman}}'': The first Ragdoll, Peter Merkel, was once just a two-bit thief whose gimmick was being triple jointed. Tired of being a joke, he decided to reinvent himself as a mass-murdering cult leader. Gathering together the lost, the homeless, the addicts together to fuel his growing ego, Merkel decided to revenge himself upon the world and directed multiple murders, making the streets of Opal City run red with blood, with Merkel indiscriminately targeting the innocent, with intent to target the innocent families of his enemies. Merkel took advantage of his hold over his cult to take sexual advantage of the women, and hideously abused the resulting children. His son, Peter Merkel Jr, was hideously scarred by his attempts to surgically alter his body to be like his father, and he went so far as to have himself castrated since they "got in the way", only to be rejected by his father anyway. His daughter Alex suffered worse. Having desired a little girl, Merkel subjected her to horrible sexual, mental and physical abuse. Merkel became despised until his death by the rest of the supervillain community for his treachery and depravity and stands as a unique icon of a former HarmlessVillain becoming a genuine terror.
* ''ComicBook/SwampThing'': [[BigBad Anton Arcane]] is a MadScientist turned EvilSorcerer obsessed with immortality and its secrets. First seen attempting to steal the Swamp Thing's body, Arcane failed and died in the attempt. His soul, however, returned from hell to steal the body of his niece Abigail Arcane's husband, Matthew Cable. In the guise of Matthew, Anton raped Abigail and consigned her soul to hell in his place. In his new position on earth, Arcane attempted to drive reality itself to insanity, using the souls of resurrected serial killers to cause destruction as the innocent succumb to savage, homicidal urges.
* ComicBook/VandalSavage practically invented evil as a human concept. Born Vandar Adg, a caveman who received super intellect and immortality from a meteorite, Savage used his endless life to become the biggest monster he could. [[HistoricalRapSheet Over the millennia]], he has been one of the most vicious and depraved men in history and one of the [[MagnificentBastard most efficient]] [[ManipulativeBastard manipulators]] in the DCU, with billions of bodies to his name. Savage has spent his time as TheManBehindTheMan to many conquerors, [[TheChessmaster organizing conquests and massacres]]. Vandal has also fathered legions of monsters, but with the exception of one child, he considers the rest pathetic and treats their lives or deaths as not worthy of his attention. His treatment toward his sole legitimate child, Scandal, [[AbusiveParents was no better]]: on her birthday, he forced her to run a gauntlet of men beating her, and if she failed, he swore he'd murder her mother. Despite Scandal being a lesbian, Vandal wants a male heir--and has no compunction having Scandal raped by other supervillains to get it. Vandal's crimes have also including introducing a new drug in the stead of heroin that burns out its users to death very quickly, multiple murders and [[ImAHumanitarian cannibalism]] (which he might well have invented as a concept), attempting to pull an asteroid down to earth and murdering Golden Age superheroes with their families after founding a Neo-Nazi group called The Fourth Reich. His sole motives are [[ForTheEvulz fun]], [[ItAmusedMe boredom]], or [[AGodAmI to shape the world in his twisted image]].
* ''Franchise/WonderWoman'':
** [[PsychoPsychologist Edgar Cizko]], better known as the infamous [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Doctor]] [[NamesToRunAwayFrom Psycho]], is the epitome of a DepravedDwarf and a [[HeManWomanHater raging misogynist]] with a long and memorable rap sheet. Psycho [[EstablishingCharacterMoment introduced himself]] by [[MindRape psychically torturing]] a guidance counselor who confronts him over subtly manipulating the minds of a school's students and attempting to murder her and her unborn baby in the process. After this incident, Psycho would go on to wreak swaths of death and mayhem with his powers, often teaming up with others, racking up a count of [[PsychicAssistedSuicide driving and attempting to drive people to suicide]] on numerous occasions, molesting and raping women he fancies, going on a psychotic rampage after being called "normal" and, in possibly his worst moment, hypnotizing an entire crowd of people into partially cannibalizing each other. Psycho, [[NightmareFetishist aroused by this]], allowed the people to live as an act of sheer torture, even condemning them to feel his own sexual pleasure as their own. A man whose diminutive, nonthreatening stature is vastly disproportionate to his evil, Psycho is one of Diana's most [[CardCarryingVillain shamelessly wicked]] rogues.
** [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Doctor]] [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Poison]] [[LegacyCharacter II]] has only had a few appearances, but has made up for that with the sheer ugliness of the crimes she commits. The granddaughter of a Japanese war criminal, the original Doctor Poison, she has continued her grandmother's research, creating new [[DeadlyGas toxins]] and [[SyntheticPlague diseases]] with which to infect the world. Kidnapping a man named Richard Agoras, [[EvilutionaryBiologist Doctor Poison]] subjected him to lengthy [[ColdBloodedTorture torture]] and experimentation, ultimately using the Pandora Virus to mutate him into a hideous monster, and unleashing him on Wonder Woman. When captured following this incident, Doctor Poison released the Pandora Virus into the atmosphere, endangering millions of lives. Escaping custody, Poison joined [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Queen Clea]]'s new [[LegionOfDoom Villainy Incorporated]], and helped to overrun the PocketDimension of Skartaris, requesting that any prisoners they took be turned over to her for [[TestedOnHumans further use in her experiments]]. Using [[PsychoSerum drugs]] and prolonged [[BeingTorturedMakesYouEvil torture]], Poison transformed her victims into [[SlaveMooks living zombies]], and forced them to battle their friends and relatives when Skartaris rose up against Clea's despotic regime. When Trinity betrayed Clea and attempted to eliminate all sentient life in Skartaris, Poison tried to prevent Wonder Woman from stopping Trinity, hoping to see [[OmnicidalManiac the dimension destroyed]] by Trinity's new virus; she later willingly loaned her talents to the collective responsible for producing the monster Genocide. Obsessed with [[MasterPoisoner producing the perfect toxic agents]] and little else, and making her appearance as [[BodyHorror horrible as possible]] in order to maximize fear in her victims, Doctor Poison II is as bad as a MadScientist can get.
** Sebastien Ballesteros, aka ComicBook/{{Cheetah}} III, quickly proved himself the worst person to ever hold the title. An Argentine [[CorruptCorporateExecutive robber baron]] who made his fortune collaborating with the UsefulNotes/NationalReorganizationProcess, Ballesteros decided real power trumped riches and stole the power of the Cheetah from Barbara Minerva, leaving her for dead. Kidnapping Diana's foster sister, Vanessa Kapatelis, Ballesteros [[MindRape psychologically]] and [[CyberneticsEatYourSoul surgically]] modified her into becoming the Silver Swan, then unleashed her on [[WouldHurtAChild Cassie Sandsmark's school]], leaving dozens of students injured or dead. He subsequently forced Vanessa to join in his and Circe's plot to murder half of New York, and personally captured Superman so that Circe could brainwash him into believing that he was Doomsday and turn him loose on Diana. After this plan failed, Ballesteros retreated to his base in Buenos Aires, where he plotted to slaughter protestors with his Cheetah powers, and burned down much of the city in battle with the returned Barbara Minerva. Escaping with his life, but not the whole of his fortune, Ballesteros again kidnapped Vanessa, who had been briefly freed by Wonder Woman, and put her through another round of [[BeingTorturedMakesYouEvil torture]], surgery, and psychological conditioning, before selling her to [[BigBadWannabe Veronica Cale]] for ten million dollars. Murdered by Minerva shortly afterwards, Ballesteros left behind a legacy of misery and shattered lives.
** [[DarkActionGirl Astarte]], the renegade Amazon, swiftly proved herself the nastiest villain of Creator/GailSimone's run. After usurping command of the nomadic intergalactic army known as The Citizenry, Astarte transformed what had been a largely pacific collective into a rampaging horde that [[PlanetLooters destroyed]] and [[ImAHumanitarian cannibalized]] the populaces of entire planets, kidnapped, genetically modified and [[SerialRapist raped]] men for reproductive purposes, and indoctrinated stolen girls into becoming loyal slave-soldiers for Astarte's wars. Having [[AbusiveParents put her daughter]], Theana, through TrainingFromHell--forcing her to murder one hundred other children or starve--Astarte kept her caged like an animal, only turning her loose when Wonder Woman threatened her invasion of Earth. When Diana started getting through to Theana, Astarte ordered her daughter [[OffingTheOffspring executed]].
* ''ComicBook/YoungJustice'': William "Billy" Hayes, better known as Harm from this [[KnightOfCerebus initially light-hearted]] comic series, was a [[TeensAreMonsters teenage supervillain]] who was also a complete [[TheSociopath sociopath]]. Adopted by loving parents, Harm initially terrified his adoptive younger sister Greta and her fears were proven right when Harm murdered her in her bathtub to seal a demonic pact and give himself super powers. His goal was to become the world's greatest murderer and he decided to hunt down and destroy all the kid heroes before moving on to the big leagues. He captured Red Tornado and reprogrammed him as a suicide bomber against Pope John Paul II to make a name for himself in the supervillain community. When his father, realizing what he was, killed Harm with a gunshot to the back, Harm's spirit later returned. He [[DemonicPossession possessed his father]] and used his body to enact more evil deeds, none more enjoyable to him than screwing with Greta, now the ghostly heroine Secret, by making her think her father never truly loved her. When defeated, Harm, for sheer spite, forced his father to throw himself into one of the fire-pits of Apokolips while Harm possessed him to kill them both.
* ''ComicBook/{{Zatanna}}'': Eldon Peck was formerly a disgruntled mystic and cultist who condemned thirteen [[WouldHurtAChild children]] to [[AndIMustScream eternal agony]] to gain supernatural powers, [[FromNobodyToNightmare transforming him into the sinister Brother Night]]. A SerialRapist who used his [[CompellingVoice compelling powers]] to force women to sleep with him, Night plots to take over the criminal underworlds of both the magical and mundane worlds, gathering the crime lords of San Francisco in one place before having them [[CruelAndUnusualDeath gruesomely murdered in a variety of creative ways]]. To stop Zatanna from foiling his schemes, Night targets the innocent after his attempt to condemn Zatanna to an eternal nightmare fails, trying to damn Zatanna's crew in the same manner he cursed the children and forcing Zatanna to fight the enslaved spirit of her own father. After his return to villainy following his apparent defeat, Night drives the prisoners and guards of the prison infirmary he's in to [[DrivenToMadness fanatical madness]] and [[DrivenToSuicide suicide]], magically [[FlayedAlive stripping away the flesh]] of the remaining prisoners and using their bones as a ladder to make his grand escape. Appropriately described by Zatanna as a {{narcissist}}ic, power-mad maniac, Night's quest to destroy Zatanna and everyone she loved cements him as the magician's cruelest and most tenacious foe.

* ''ComicBook/SwampThing'': Anton Arcane's new incarnation is a being of boundless cruelty. In his pursuit of immortality, Arcane took over the elemental force of The Rot, [[DarkIsNotEvil the natural force of death and decay]], and subsumed it to his will. Arcane extends the Rot to devour all that lives and trap the world in deathless limbo he can rule. Arcane even forced his own nephew to be the Rot's avatar, devouring his mind from within. In Arcane's battles with Swamp Thing, Alec Holland saw a future where Arcane gruesomely tortured and beheaded Abigail and saw lobotomized clones Arcane had made of her as cannon fodder.
* ''Franchise/GreenLantern'': Volthoom is the RealityWarping BigBad of the ''ComicBook/WrathOfTheFirstLantern'' storyline. Before the beginning of the plot, he was responsible for the torture and murder of millions of people across the universe, which lead to his imprisonment by the Guardians. When they decided to put him in lesser restraints eons later in order to further their own plans, Volthoom broke free and set off on a quest to regain his lost powers by feeding on the emotions of various Lantern ring wielders. To do this, he pulls off a DespairGambit on each one by showing them visions of [[ForWantOfANail what could have happened had something gone different in their most defining or tragic moments in their lives]], warping reality around them so that they become immersed in it, and denying them the chance to change the past. Out of all the emotions, he finds negative ones such as despair and misery the most savory to him. This [[MindRape leaves his victims physically and mentally broken]] as a result; in doing this, he almost [[DrivenToSuicide drove Atrocitus to suicide]]. When Sinestro resisted Volthoon and lashed back at him, Volthoom [[DisproportionateRetribution destroyed Sinestro's home planet Korugar and everyone on it]]. Volthoom's ultimate goal after completely restoring his power is to [[AGodAmI rewrite all of reality to the way he wants it to be]].
* [[GalacticConqueror Mongul]] is the sociopathic ruler of the weaponized moon, Warworld, and one of the most wicked villains in the ''New 52'' continuity. Having become a firm believer in "[[TheSocialDarwinist survival of the fittest]]" after witnessing an animal brawl end in blood and death as a child, Mongul immediately [[EnfantTerrible murdered his baby brother]], followed by [[SelfMadeOrphan his own parents]] when they tried to get him counseling. In the present, as the cruel leader of the aforementioned hellish Warworld, Mongul uses it to attack dozens of planets across the galaxy, massacring the populations of millions then subjecting many of them to AndIMustScream fates with his Black Mercy plant, while using any survivors as soldiers, slaves, or [[HumanResources raw material to be harvested]]. Along with this, Mongul runs GladiatorGames where any losers will have their entire races exterminated. When any enemy leaders specifically ask him to surrender before they are fully aware of his power, Mongul personally [[OffWithHisHead rips their heads off]], mounts them on pikes, then [[DecapitationPresentation displays them as trophies]], of which he has hundreds. Later, after failing to turn all of Earth into a HiveMind of chaos under his control, Mongol coldly [[OffingTheOffspring kills his son]], Jochi, for failing to live up to his reputation, and eventually lays a trap for the Sinestro Corps, hoping to massacre them and force any survivors into his thrall, all while taunting the helpless Sinestro about the torture he intends to inflict on him and his people. Disgusted with everything weaker than himself and angered by anything stronger, this version of Mongul is just as bad as any of his previous incarnations.

* ''Series/{{Arrow}}'', Season 2.5: Khem-Adam is the leader of Onslaught, a group of fanatical, religious terrorists, who took advantage of the power vacuum in [[{{Qurac}} Kahndaq]] after the previous dictatorship was overthrown. His main goal is to force his country back into the old, barbaric ways, with women in particular being reduced to nothing more than serving the needs of the men. He crosses the MoralEventHorizon right in the very beginning, when he has a group of young women forcefully abducted for nothing more than undergoing school education (and after murdering their teacher right in front of their eyes). He is later shown to orchestrate mass executions on any one who dares to oppose his godly quest, and assigning the girls to his men as personal slaves to be beaten and raped. When one of the girls kills her abuser in self-defense and manages to escape, he immediately orders the rest of the group to be executed as an example. [[HeManWomanHater Misogynistic]], cruel, and with a [[KnightTemplar delusional fantasy of carrying out the will of the Old Gods]], Khem-Adam [[EvenEvilHasStandards earns the disgust of even the hardened, criminal members]] of the ComicBook/SuicideSquad (one member in particular being a former military leader of the aforementioned overthrown dictatorship).

Ten years later, Lacey [[PsychoForHire pursues a job]] to ruin the life of a farmer named Wilson connected to the life of his client, Harrison Wayne, an opportunity he uses to get at the now-grown Cinder. Poisoning Wilson's wife and livestock before kidnapping his daughter Jennifer, Lacey wreaks vast swaths of murder and racks up well over a dozen bodies, connected to his target or not, murdering Jennifer himself alongside an entire gang of people and shooting Wilson himself at Jennifer's funeral. Lacey murders Wayne himself in his attempt to kill Cinder, living and dying an unrepentant, sneering scumbag with not one remotely humane attribute about him.

Becoming an [[spoiler:American senator]], the Ultra-Humanite places [[spoiler:Hitler's brain inside another superhero, Dynaman]], and the duo begin plotting to take over America and launch a war on all communist countries. When exposed at a press conference, Hitler attacks the heroes present, killing many civilians in his rampage, while ranting he will use his newfound power to conquer the planet with force.
** ''Justice Riders'', by Chuck Dixon & J.H. Williams III: [[BigBad Maxwell Lord]] is a [[CorruptCorporateExecutive greedy robber baron]] with a sinister scheme. Wiping out Sheriff [[Franchise/WonderWoman Diana Prince]]'s hometown, Paradise, along with everyone in it, Lord goes on to massacre at least another five towns in the way of him laying his railroad to California. When Diana confronts Lord for destroying Paradise, he reveals he believes [[{{Greed}} profit justifies any action he takes]], even toying with the idea of conquering California and wiping out the population to replace them with his robotic minions.
** ''Wonder Woman: Amazonia'', by William Messner-Loebs et al.: King Jack Planters is a seemingly-noble American who takes the throne after a mysterious explosion decimates the entirety of the Royal Family. In truth the notorious UsefulNotes/JackTheRipper who rigged the explosion himself after his initial killings, Jack keeps the sole survivor as a paralyzed trophy and plunges his nation into a brutal war with France whilst keeping the women of the country as lower-class citizens. A [[HeManWomanHater raving misogynist]] in his meantime, Jack invents a drug to erase men's "femininity" to reduce them to bloodthirsty beasts and spreads the drug among his inner circle to have them [[HuntingTheMostDangerousGame hunt down and butcher captured women for sport]], hoping to raise his son as an equally-bloodthirsty heir and laughing that he slaughtered his own wife alongside a hundred others for the purpose of establishing a "Ripper's world" among the land he rules over. Even when Diana herself saves his life from an earlier attack, Jack smugly brushes the matter off by revealing the attempted assassin was a friend of Jack's before he murdered his daughter in a fit of cruel lust, later trying to make Diana herself as the centerpiece of his latest hunt while kidnapping her children to grow up under cruel experimentation.
* ''He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2012)'':
** [[SkullForAHead Skeletor]] is the [[OverarchingVillain ever-present]] main antagonist of this story, and the most personal foe the Masters of the Universe face throughout it. Originally one of the two possible heirs to the throne of Eternia, Skeletor was rejected his chance at the throne due to his half-Gar lineage, and as such, developed a deep-seeded hatred for his entire family and a lust for power. [[DealWithTheDevil Making a deal]] with the monstrous entity Hordak, Skeletor poisoned the Eternia royalty; fatally stabbed his brother; [[WouldHurtAChild kidnapped his infant niece]] and gave her to Hordak for him to torture and corrupt; and began laying siege to Eternia, leading to the slaughter of hundreds of innocents. With [[ItsAllAboutMe no care for anyone but himself]], Skeletor [[BadBoss tortures and kills his own minions]], abuses his significant other, and regularly tries to [[TheStarscream betray his masters]], while simultaneously going along with their plans gleefully, no matter how many innocents may die at his hands. Seemingly redeeming himself, Skeletor quickly reveals it was a ruse and, after [[HijackedByGanon killing Hordak and usurping the role of final villain]], uses the [[AndIMustScream tortured souls of billions of innocents]] to create a weapon that he first uses to [[EarthShatteringKaboom annihilate dozens of planets and their populations]], then reveals he will use it to [[OmnicidalManiac annihilate everything that has ever existed across every dimension]], and, on the off chance that he himself survives, he will [[AGodAmI rebuild the multiverse and rule over it as a god of death and evil]]. A [[AxCrazy psychopath]] who refused to be anything but the supreme master of all, and, failing at this, the destroyer of all, Skeletor was [[AdaptationalVillainy much more evil]] and [[DarkerAndEdgier much more serious]] than his [[IneffectualSympatheticVillain usual]] [[LaughablyEvil incarnation]].
** The aforementioned [[SatanicArchetype Hordak]] is an ancient "space vampire" and is [[GreaterScopeVillain the root of all evil]] in the story. Once the member of a heavily-populated race, Hordak tricked his enemies, and his own people, into massacring each other in a huge war, at which point he [[FateWorseThanDeath absorbed their souls]] into himself, leaving them in [[AndIMustScream tortured agony]]. Using his victims' corpses as his army, Hordak tried to take over Eternia before being banished into an alternate dimension, which he quickly took over as his own, and then used to enter the realm of Etheria, where he slowly slaughtered billions of innocents before devouring their souls. Later leading a full-scale invasion onto Eternia, Hordak reveals that his [[TheDragon Dragon]] is actually the long-lost sister of [[TheHero He-Man]], Adora, whom Hordak had kidnapped then tortured and corrupted into becoming his killing machine. Along with [[MindRape Mind Raping]] Adora anytime she would begin to realize her true heritage, Hordak sadistically murders her surrogate mother in front of her, then allows her to realize she is responsible for Eternia's imminent destruction. After dominating Eternia and regularly gorging on the souls of hundreds of citizens, Hordak destroys an entire planet to show his newfound power and reveals his plan to dominate the entire universe and turn it into a nightmarish realm where he is worshiped as a god while all those who oppose him suffer horribly. Serving as a contrast to Skeletor's omnicidal psychopathy, Hordak was a genocidal [[TheSociopath sociopath]] who believed all life to be inferior to himself.
* ''VideoGame/InjusticeGodsAmongUs'': ComicBook/TheJoker is as bad as ever. In fact, he is the reason Superman adopts a zero tolerance policy on crime, as he places a detonator in the pregnant Lois Lane, set to trigger a nuke in Metropolis the moment her heart stops, and then uses a Kryptonite-laced version of Scarecrow's fear toxin to trick Superman into seeing Doomsday, so that the deaths of Lois and the millions in Metropolis are on Superman's hands. He does all of this because he was tired of losing to Batman and [[ForTheEvulz wanted to go after an easier target]].
* ''ComicBook/JustImagineStanLeeCreatingTheDCUniverse'':
** [[BigBad The Thief of Souls]], known primarily by his identity [[SinisterMinister Reverend Dominic Darrk]], is the demonic and {{manipulative|Bastard}} mastermind behind all the evil in the series, seeking to pave the way for his master, Crisis, to invade Earth. After possessing a man, [[FateWorseThanDeath banishing his wife to Dreamland]], then corrupting their son into a sociopath like himself, the Thief sets up his [[ReligionOfEvil Church of Eternal Empowerment]], a {{cult}} that recruits its members through kidnapping, brainwashing, or threats of death. Along with regularly ordering assassinations and [[BadBoss executing his own minions]] for the [[YouHaveFailedMe slightest of failures]], the Thief unleashes monsters to rampage across entire cities more than once, and later releases a virus called the "Sleeping Death", which plunges its victims into neverending sleep while the Thief steals their souls to offer up to Crisis. In the end, even when beaten, the Thief happily taunts the heroes about the coming of his master, and the joy he will take in the knowledge that they will all spend an eternity of agony at Crisis' hands.
** [[GreaterScopeVillain Crisis]] himself is the force behind the Thief of Souls, and the most evil being the JLA encounter. Coming to Earth after attempting to [[YourSoulIsMine devour thousands of innocents' souls]], Crisis plans to turn the entirety of the universe into his personal playground by fusing the Dreamworld with Earth, then plunging every living thing in the universe into eternal pain and suffering. After brutally [[MindRape tormenting]] the heroes with their worst fears, Crisis manipulates his descendants Robin and Melana to betray their team, at which point Crisis hopes to eternally imprison them in a gemstone while he rampages across the universe, bringing death and destruction across the cosmos simply [[ForTheEvulz because he can]].
** [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Armando Guitez]] is the BigBad of the Franchise/WonderWoman story, and manages to stick out even among other far more powerful villains as a truly reprehensible monster. Using his wealth, Guitez begins tearing apart Mexican ruins looking for ancient and powerful runes, and threatens any nearby farmers off their land with death, ordering one beaten to death and shooting another in the head just for voicing their compaints against him. After murdering [[ReasonableAuthorityFigure Judge Mendoza]] for displaying disgust at his crimes, Guitez plans to rape the man's daughter Maria before murdering her would-be rescuer, Steve Trevor. Guitez, finding the ancient runes he has been searching for, [[EvilMakesYouMonstrous absorbs the power of the demons residing within them]], travels to Los Angeles, crashes the plane he's on into a populated street, then goes on a massacre throughout the city for fun as he searches for other runes to make himself ever more powerful. Guitez's evil ran so deep, that [[EvenEvilHasStandards even one of the demons he absorbed proclaimed his shock at Guitez's sheer black soul]].
* ''ComicBook/{{Justice}}'': ComicBook/{{Brainiac}} is the [[BigBad main villain]] of this miniseries, the ultimate mastermind behind of the LegionOfDoom, and [[TheChessmaster the architect of most of the disasters in the story]]. Brainiac is an [[RoboticPsychopath advanced android]] created by the Computer Tyrants of Colu. When the Computer Tyrants were destroyed by the people they had oppressed, Brainiac decides to create his own version of Colu on Earth, by [[KillAllHumans killing most of humanity]] and turning the rest into copies of himself. To do this, Brainiac meets with [[ComicBook/{{Shazam}} Captain Marvel]] villain [[MadScientist Doctor Sivana]], who has been developing [[MindControlDevice tiny robot worms that control the minds of others]]. Brainiac takes his research and uses it to [[DrivenToMadness drive Doctor Sivana insane]]. Brainiac forms his own Legion of Doom, [[BrainwashedAndCrazy mind-controlling most of the members]], except for Lex Luthor who has a force field that protects him from Brainiac's devices. Brainiac has Black Manta kidnap Aquaman, with Brainiac wanting to learn more about his telepathy by cutting open his brain. Brainiac has the various Legion of Doom members [[FalselyReformedVillain pretend to have turned good and wanting to help humanity]], with several of them creating cities for the sick and needy, that will provided technology that will cure their illnesses and provided them with a good standard of life. Brainiac's micro worms have also let him take control of Earth's nuclear stockpile, with Brainiac planning to [[NukeEm nuke most of the world to destroy humanity]]. When the Justice League reveal to Luthor that Brainiac has betrayed him, Luthor sabotages his plans and forces him to retreat to his ship. Brainiac, [[SoreLoser unhappy about losing]], decides to set off the nukes anyway and destroy humanity.
* ''ComicBook/TheMighty'': [[NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist Alpha One]] is a seemingly benevolent superhero who soon reveals himself to be something far worse. An alien banished from his homeworld due to his desire to wipe out 10% of the population who were, in his mind, "[[KillThePoor vagrants]]", Alpha landed on Earth where he instantly massacred hundreds of soldiers on two sides of a war to test his new powers granted to him by the Earth's sun. Becoming a superhero to gain the trust of humanity, Alpha is in actuality arranging accidents that kill innocents by the hundreds, notably sinking the ''[[UsefulNotes/RMSTitanic Titanic]]'', then kidnapping innocent survivors of said accidents and performing horrifying experiments on them, leading to their untimely demises. Having thousands of victims of just his experiments over the centuries, Alpha allies with his new partner, Gabriel Cole, and continues his plans while making Cole his "friend" as they stop terrorists from detonating a nuke that Alpha himself had them construct. When Cole finds out the truth, Alpha reveals that he seeks to create dozens of humans with superpowers like himself, and, after failing to impregnate dozens of women, many unwillingly, Alpha decided to perform experiments on people to get his results. Once perfecting the experiments, Alpha plans to make the powered individuals his "master race", then use them to purge humanity of its "chaotic" and "evil" free will, all while keeping his MasterRace under his thumb with threats of death to any who oppose him. Though claiming to want to "save" humankind and seeming to genuinely like Cole, both of these are utterly disproved by the end, where Alpha devolves into ranting that [[AGodAmI he is a god]] and boasts that he is happy for the chance to kill Cole, having decided that the man doesn't "deserve" to live under his rule.
* ''ComicBook/ScoobyApocalypse'': [[TheSociopath Rufus T. Dinkley]] is one of "the Four," Velma Dinkley's four older brothers who sabotage Project Elysium in an attempt to take control of the minds of every human on earth, and is easily the worst seen thus far. Having [[CorruptCorporateExecutive funded Project Elysium]] solely to gain a horde of mindless slaves once it succeeded, Rufus hides out in his security building with his wife and several scientists when Elysium goes awry and mutates nearly all of humanity into monsters, spending his time there shooting the mutated humans for sport, [[DomesticAbuser abusing Daisy]], and beating his scientists to death one by one as [[YouHaveFailedMe they fail him]]. When Velma and the Scooby Gang show up for his help, Rufus tries to blow Velma's head off, then reveals that he is planning on thwarting any attempts at a cure for the plague infecting humanity, instead wanting to take control of the monsters and [[AGodAmI rule over them as a god]]. As a final ploy, Rufus shuts down the security in his building to allow a monster horde to enter and maul his sister, her friends, and even his own wife to death as punishment for them not seeing his "greatness."
* Creator/TangentComics: ''ComicBook/SecretSix'': Dr. Aquadus, the Tangent Universe's [[AdaptationalVillainy version]] of ComicBook/{{Aquaman}}, was a Soviet scientist and chief director of Svitavy Collective who developed the Red Tornado, a lethal chemical weapon later employed in the Czech War in the bombing of a populated town-- leading to countless agonizing deaths in the process. After a haywire experiment transfers Aquadus's consciousness into the nearby lakeside, Aquadus decides to use his new form and powers for his own ends, engineering destructive experiments in the Pacific Ocean that kill thousands of Sea Devils through the seismic activity. When finally confronted by the Secret Six, Aquadus reveals his intention to [[EarthShatteringKaboom blow up the moon]] and utterly flood the Earth, plunging it into a "new age" of his own mad design.

** Quartermaster Temple, the man responsible for ruining the life of Thaddeus Bach--aka Space Ghost-- is a member of the [[SpacePolice Eidolon Elite]] who leads the Wrath, the Eidolon's most experienced--and [[DirtyCop corrupt]] unit. Initially appear as a stern but reasonable man, all pretense of civility dissipates when Temple implodes the head of an amiable weapons dealer and passes his death off as an act of justice. When Bach attempts to expose him, Temple plunges off the deep end by savagely murdering Bach's pregnant wife, tearing the unborn baby out of her, and recording the entire process, leaving Bach for dead on an alien planet shortly after. When the Zorathians invade Meridian, a colony planet where the residents are worked to the bone by Temple, Temple guns down several Zorathians and fleeing innocent civilians himself before siding with their leader Zorak, selling out the entire populace to be slaughtered by the Zorathian in exchange for his own skin and another shot at Bach. Once Zorak betrays him, Temple loses it and butchers his way through the Zorathian mothership in an effort to plunge the entire ship into Meridian and wipe out both the colonists and the Zorathians to eradicate any evidence of his misdeeds, gloating over the impending death of the hundreds of innocents below to Bach with a cocky sneer on his face. Willing to take any means necessary to cover up his immoral affairs, Temple manages to match even the Zorathians in pure depravity.
** [[AVillainNamedZrg Zorak]], [[DarkerAndEdgier in a sharp contrast]] to his [[WesternAnimation/SpaceGhostCoastToCoast best-known]]—though not necessarily his original--iteration, is portrayed in this comic as a [[TheDreaded genocidal, violence-loving creature]] with the singular goal of [[OmnicidalManiac devouring all life in the universe]] until all that is left is himself and his race, the [[InsectoidAliens Zorathians]]. First appearing in-story leading the attempted slaughter of an entire city, Zorak is quickly revealed to be a nightmarish galactic monster who sends out scouts to various planets to test the defenses by killing inhabitants before Zorak and his fleet arrive to massacre the entire planet's population, taking any survivors as slaves or food, then festering in the corpses of the dead population and breeding a new generation of Zorathians in order to repeat the process over again. An utterly sadistic being, Zorak takes deep pleasure from killing all in his path, with his troops attempting to torture children to death being just one notable instance of this, all while keeping himself alive by body jacking his fellow Zorathians when his current body expires. After allying with then betraying the aforementioned Quartermaster Temple, leaving him to die when [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness he outlives his usefulness]], Zorak [[KickTheDog viciously mocks Space Ghost about the death of his wife at Temple's hands]], and gleefully boasts his plans to continue his planet devouring spree for all eternity. Harboring a deep hatred and lust to kill for everything that wasn't his own race, Zorak is perhaps one of the most shocking examples of AdaptationalVillainy ever conceived.
* ''Film/TotalRecall1990'': In the DC Comics adaptation of this classic action flick, by Elliot S. Maggin & Tom Lyle, [[BigBad Chief Administrator Vilos Cohaagen]] lacks his film counterpart's VillainousFriendship with Carl Hauser, while still retaining all the evil. As leader of the Mars colonization efforts, Cohaagen brutally overprices the sell of oxygen to the citizens of the colonies, uncaring that many of them are slowly dying from being unable to pay Cohaagen's prices, and, upon discovering a likely way to provide infinite oxygen across the planet, Cohaagen covers it up to retain his power over the inhabitants. When rebel forces continuously try to oust his treachery, Cohaagen devises a plan with his partner Carl Hauser to mind-wipe the latter, turning him into an ideal rebel fighter, then using this new personality, Douglas Quaid, to lead Cohaagen to the rebels. Once succeeding in this, slaughtering the entire rebel group, Cohaagen attempts to revert Quaid back to Hauser, laughing all the way about asphyxiating the entirety of Venusville [[ForTheEvulz for fun]]. Cohaagen ultimately showed his [[LackOfEmpathy lack of care]] for Hauser when, after Quaid escapes the attempted reversion of his mind, Cohaagen callously orders him be killed, and spends his last moments using [[LoveInterest Melina]] as a hostage in an attempt to murder Quaid, securing his rule over Mars once and for all.
* ''The Uncanny X-Men and The New Teen Titans'', by Chris Claremont et al.: ComicBook/{{Darkseid}} himself, seeking to expand his cosmic empire, seeks the power of Jean Grey for his own ends. Having ComicBook/{{Deathstroke}} and Ravok the Ravager act as proxies down on Earth, Darkseid eventually rallies up both the [[ComicBook/UncannyXMen X-Men]] and the ComicBook/TeenTitans-–coldly [[YouHaveFailedMe vaporizing Ravok for failure with his Omega Beams right after]]--and uses their memories to painfully reawaken Jean Grey as the Dark Phoenix. With her power, Darkseid seeks to turn Earth into a second Apokolips, destroying most life on it, before repeating the process with every planet in the universe until he rules all.

The Minutemen's leader, Agent Philip Graves, secretly working for Augustus, would then lead the Minutemen on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge and kill the Trust members Augustus wanted dead. After Augustus's son Benito is almost killed, Augustus enlists {{the sociopath}}ic WildCard Minuteman Lono to torture and kill another trust head who had a hand in the hit and his heirs, and also orchestrate a [[FalseFlagOperation false flag assassination]] of female Trust head Megan Dietrich, whom Augustus then seduces [[DirtyOldMan despite a very large age difference]]. When a rival Trust head has two of Augustus's key allies killed, Augustus crosses the MoralEventHorizon by resigning his seat in favor of Benito, knowing that [[OffingTheOffspring this will lead to Benito's murder at Megan's hands]] and a power vacuum that ultimately [[KillEmAll kills all the other Trust members and most of the Minutemen]]. When confronted by a [[EvenEvilHasStandards disgusted Graves]] over killing his own child, Augustus [[NeverMyFault justifies himself]] by saying that he didn't ''technically'' make Megan do anything.

[[PsychoSupporter Devoted only to the Beast]] and bringing about the end of days for humanity, Hurin demonstrates how far even humanity's greatest hero can fall.

A supposed god who cultivates an entire religion around itself, Nolo Goth regularly demands ritual [[HumanSacrifice sacrifice of young women]] whom it [[EatenAlive devours alive and screaming]], having devoured hundreds of thousands of victims through its lifespan and always craving more. To attain its freedom, Nolo Goth subtly [[ManipulativeBastard manipulates]] the young apprentice healer and mage Skold and goads her into initiating a series of events that ultimately ends with the Emperor of Birzenia and Nolo Goth's most devout priest devoured by it. Eating the rest of its priests out of annoyance for their chanting, Nolo Goth's response to Skold summoning the spirits of its restless victims is to simply devour them all over again and proclaim nothing will stop it in its quest to eat and slaughter as much as it can forevermore.
* ''ComicBook/CoffinHill'': [[WickedWitch Emma Coffin]], founder of the titular town, escaped the Salem Witch Trials and left the innocent to die in her stead. Not content to rest in peace, Emma's evil spirit tormented the families of those who eventually hanged her for her crimes of sacrificing others for her magic, while also tormenting her own descendants. Emma threatened her descendant Eve into helping her return to life by threatening to kill everyone Eve loved and the entire town as well. It is further revealed Emma's source of power are the souls of her victims, imprisoned in the Coffin manor and [[AndIMustScream kept trapped in their worst nightmares]] as Emma feeds off them.
* ''ComicBook/CrossingMidnight'': Lord Aratsu, the God of Swords, is one of the most powerful ''Kami'' alive. He is also a vicious, usurping, tyrannical megalomaniac who considers it his right to steal a girl named Toshi from her parents and twin brother because their father prayed at his shrine before her birth. When she refuses to become his slave after Aratsu [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals brutally murdered the family dog]] he dismembers her mother to use her life to force Toshi's hand. Once Toshi agrees to serve him, Aratsu repairs her mother, but doesn't even bother to mend her soul, leaving her an empty shell and fully susceptible to hungry, soul eating imps. Once Toshi is his slave, Aratsu uses his swords to cut away her past and future, leaving her to exist in only a moment in time. Should she ever displease him, he would allow time to lapse and her to vanish. Aratsu's cruelty is revealed as the story goes on: he gained his power by treachery and murder, having severed his predecessor's memory and condemned him to exile on earth. A violent egomaniac, he also kills any who do not give him the blind worship he feels he's entitled to. While many ''Kami'' are alien creatures, Aratsu is an all too familiar and understandable being, and eclipses any human, dragon, demon or ''Kami'' in the story with his evil. By the time the rebellion against his rule rolls around, he has no compunction sending the amnesiac Toshi to kill her own brother.
* ''ComicBook/{{Fables}}'': Leigh Douglas, formerly Mrs. Sprat, shows her dark side when she reveals that she became a [[BattleaxeNurse nurse]] to see other Fables suffering by her hand. She later gladly teams up with the [[MadeOfEvil personification of darkness]], [[BigBad Mr. Dark]], to destroy her former home in exchange for beauty and power. Once Dark is defeated, Leigh takes her place back in Fabletown proper, but plans to use a spell to seize control of Bigby Wolf and use him as a feral weapon to slaughter other Fables, intending to use him to exterminate the Fables of her old home. Out of spite, she plans to mutilate and torture the "pretty ones" until they're hideous, then kill them. Her worst deed is sending Bigby to murder his former wife and their young children. Despite her new-found beauty, Leigh proves at every opportunity no other Fables is as hideous inside as her.
* ''ComicBook/{{Hellblazer}}'': John Constantine has encountered depraved villains, but several leave the rest far behind.
** The First of the Fallen was already said to be at the bottom of hell when Lucifer himself was cast down. Far more depraved, violent and {{sadist}}ic than Lucifer, the First is introduced as a trader in souls whom John bests in a battle of wits. The First promptly devotes all energy to vengeance to destroy John in every way, shape and form, while destroying his friends and loved ones and condemning a city to an orgy of blood and violence, simply for [[ForTheEvulz his own enjoyment]]. The First shows no loyalty to allies and frequently destroys them, in one instance changing demon lord Nergal into a mortal to torture him simply [[ItAmusedMe for amusement]]. In his cruelest act, the First captured the soul of John's innocent sister and played upon her love for her hell-bound husband to manipulate her into staying in hell to split the torture between them.
** [[SerialKiller Samuel Morris]], known as The Family Man, was the first human being John Constantine ever killed. The Family Man was an old man with a penchant for happy families. Upon locating them, with a mother, father, and [[WouldHurtAChild children]], he would murder them by lacerating their bodies and ending by [[SlashedThroat slashing their throats]]. Having [[SelfMadeOrphan murdered his own parents]] as a child, the Family Man had a habit of leaving no witnesses, with his victims including John's estranged father. Despite being only human, The Family Man remains one of the most evil and disturbing villains in Hellblazer's annals.
** [[EvilCounterpart Joshua Wright]] was an unscrupulous magician with no compunction about rape, manipulation or murder. Wright seduced John Constantine's former lover Isabelle Bracknell, and made her his Scarlet Woman, a woman he could practice all his magic through. When he got bored of her, Wright would [[MindRape drive her to the lowest depths]] for [[ForTheEvulz a laugh]], [[ColdBloodedTorture forcing her]] through [[BodyHorror painful body modification]], raping her, getting her pregnant to make her get an abortion and having the aborted fetus implanted under her skin, and having her prostitute herself. In his own words, he was [[ItAmusedMe merely amusing himself]] at this point. When he got tired of her, he [[DropTheHammer murdered her with a hammer]]. When confronted by John, Wright shows no remorse, gloating "that's what magic's all about, innit? Fucking someone. One way or another."
* ''ComicBook/AHistoryOfViolence'': "Little" Lou Manzi from the comic version is a ravenously psychotic mob boss and TortureTechnician who makes ColdBloodedTorture his hobby. Since becoming the head of the boss twenty years before the story, Manzi keeps a man as a toy, torturing him in every conceivable way he can think of day in and day out till the man is nothing more than an armless, legless chunk of meat--[[AndIMustScream barely alive and conscious]]. In present, he tries to get the man's partner back to be his victim as well by threatening his family and his young children.
* ''Film/TheLostBoys: The Lost Girl'', by Tim Seeley et al.: In this comic, taking place shortly after the first film, [[GreaterScopeVillain Agnes Underwood]] is a [[BitchInSheepsClothing seemingly-sweet]] [[EvilOldFolks old lady]] in Santa Carla, but is in fact the head vampire behind the Blood Belles and the secret mastermind of their operations. Agnes recruits the Blood Bells by preying on the needs of lost and lonely girls before turning them into vampires. With Agnes operating behind the scenes, the Blood Belles kill off the hunters of Santa Carla, including Grandpa Emerson, abduct and turn multiple [[WouldHurtAChild children]], and plot to awaken ancient vampires (Tlahuelpuchi) to conquer the world and bring about the age of vampires. Agnes also had Star placed in Santa Carla to infiltrate the Lost Boys to make a power play of her own. What makes Agnes worse is that all these things are a mere means to a [[EvilIsPetty petty]] and [[ItsAllAboutMe selfish end]]: for centuries Agnes sought the pure blood of the mother vampires to [[ImmortalityImmorality restore her youth]]. Agnes also takes Lucy Emerson and Laddie hostage under the threat of death, as well as kills and turns the residents and orderlies as a local retirement home. Besides having no loyalty to the Tlahuelpuchi, Agnes dismisses the deaths of the Blood Belles by simply saying [[WeHaveReserves she can make more]], and tries to force Star to test the pure blood to see if it will kill her or make her lose her humanity, calling it a win-win scenario.
* ''ComicBook/{{Preacher}}'':
** Marie L'Angell is the [[EvilMatriarch terrifying grandmother]] of protagonist Jesse Custer. She takes "controlling" to a new level and views her own family as tools rather than people. Her usual punishment of her grandson Jesse was locking him into an airtight coffin with an air hose and letting him wallow in his own shit and piss for a week. Then, she attempted to kill her daughter Christina for trying to stop it. But the worst of Marie's cruelties is her obsession with "hardening" Jesse by destroying all his non-family ties, including his puppy dog, his girlfriend, and his childhood friend. And his own father.
** Jody is generally the instrument of this. Unlike Marie, however, Jody makes no pretense that he doesn't enjoy what he does. He [[BoomHeadshot blows Jesse's father's brains out]] right in front of him and then sneers "fucking crybaby" at a tearful Jesse. When Jesse's dog tries to be friendly to Jody, Jody [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals nails its head to a post]] and then brutally beats Jesse into submission. Years later, Jody forces Jesse to cry "uncle" while twisting his arm so bad the bone snaps out. In the present, Jody shoots Tulip in the head at Marie's request, while Jesse watches. Later, when Marie finally orders Jesse's death, Jody isn't content with just killing him, but wants to [[MindRape break and humiliate him and make him beg first]]. When Jesse finally bites a chunk off of Jody's arm, breaks his back and strangles him to death, Jody is too twisted to feel anything but pride that his abuses turned Jesse into a killer.
* ''Pride & Joy'', by Creator/GarthEnnis & John Higgins: Stein is a nihilistic PsychoForHire infamous for his brutality. Employed in the past as a [[ProfessionalKiller hitman]] for crime boss Daddy Delaney, Stein establishes his brutality by forcing protagonist Jimmy Kalvangh to watch as he [[ColdBloodedTorture tortures a man to death with a knife]], later striking a deal with Jimmy and his associates to overthrow Delaney himself. After he's double-crossed, Stein breaks out two decades later to pursue revenge against Jimmy and his entire family, tormenting him by leaving the corpse of an eviscerated man in his daughter's bedroom and [[CopKiller mowing down a cop]] with Jimmy's own guns. [[GroinAttack Castrating]] Jimmy's friend Lenny and later killing both Lenny and his brother, Stein badly wounds Jimmy and leaves him to bleed out with the promise he'll be [[WouldHurtAChild killing Jimmy's teenage son]] Michael next.
* ''ComicBook/TheSandman'': [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Dr. Destiny]], aka John Dee, transforms from a standard, somewhat campy supervillain into a nightmare inducing lunatic. When first seen Destiny comes across as a harmless, even somewhat pitiable, man. This impression goes out the window when he, for no real reason, casually murders the woman who had given him a ride, made pleasant small talk with him, and given him a coat. Once the good doctor regains the Materioptikon, a ruby used by Morpheus to create reality from the fabric of dreams, Destiny shows off just how bad he truly is. Sitting in a diner, over a twenty-four period Destiny begins steadily driving the establishment's patrons and employees mad. He makes them have sex with each other, mutilate themselves, and torture and kill each other. At one point he gives them their minds back and when they demand to know why he's doing this to them, he responds, [[ForTheEvulz "Because I can."]] By the time he's finished all of the diner's inhabitants are dead. All while this was going on, Dr. Destiny was using the power of the ruby to drive everyone on the planet mad. One disturbing instance had him making a kids' show host tell his viewers to slice open their wrists. When Morpheus asks Destiny what his goal is now, Destiny replies that at first he wanted to rule but now he wants to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy the world and dance in the wreckage.]]
* ''ComicBook/{{Scalped}}'': Mr. Brass, the TortureTechnician of the Hmong gangsters, is a short, mild-mannered man with one arm who's also a terrifying sadist. When introduced, Mr. Brass informs a prisoner he never asks a question twice and has him 'pick a number', one through ten. The man selects a number which turns out to be the body part Brass removes. Brass proceeds to remove his eye before even asking a question. Brass spends his time torturing his way through the residents of the reservation, largely for his own pleasure. How brass satisfies his 'peculiarities' (he has a penchant for raping and murdering teen prostitutes, male and female) [[EvenEvilHasStandards disgusts even the ruthless mob boss Lincoln Red Crow.]] In the gritty, dark BlackAndGrayMorality world that is Scalped's Rez, Brass is the worst the world has to offer.
* ''ComicBook/SweetTooth'': Haggarty is a lone survivor of the plague who showed up at a dam where the self-sustaining community Project Evergreen was located. At first [[FauxAffablyEvil seeming kind and helpful]], he waited until a large group left to scavenge and killed almost everyone who stayed behind. After killing the community's leader, he took the man's wife and daughter for his own and locked everyone else out to fend for themselves. When Jeppard's group arrives at the dam, Haggarty had taken on the identity of the friendly, handicapped Walter Fish. He convinces them that the remaining members of Project Evergreen are violent scavengers, leading to Jeppard's group killing some of them. When most of the men leave, Haggarty ties up everyone but the teenager Becky, telling her that whenever she disobeys him, he'll kill one of her friends. When the others manage to escape, Haggarty tries to kill them all.
* ''ComicBook/{{Transmetropolitan}}'': [[BigBad Senator Gary "The Smiler" Callahan]] is a [[CorruptPolitician sadistic politician]] who desires ultimate power for no reason other than [[MisanthropeSupreme to hurt others]]. On his campaign trail for President, Callahan first shows his cruelty when he has his political advisor shot dead to [[FalseFlagAttack gain sympathy for his cause]]. Once elected {{President|Evil}}, Callahan begins running The City into the ground even more than it already was, orchestrating the release of vicious criminals so as to gun down the ensuing protesters, having all the prostitutes he ever slept with and those who associated with them hunted down and executed to cover up his illicit acts, and ordering several people sniped to lower the City's awareness of an incoming storm, hoping it would wipe out more evidence of his crimes. As [[AntiHero Spider Jerusalem]] begins taking apart his cabinet and ruining his reputation, Callahan slowly becomes more [[AxCrazy unhinged]] and desperate for ratings, having his wife and kids killed in an accident to gain sympathy and instituting martial law across the City, setting an entire complex aflame and endangering dozens in the process. In perhaps his most despicable act, Callahan gives his troops the order to use lethal force on a group of young college protesters, leading to dozens of protesters being mowed down. Described by Spider as a man who believes in nothing but his own power, Gary Callahan was a [[CardCarryingVillain self-described]] "Franchise/JamesBond villain" who simply hated every last person on the planet that wasn't himself, and stood out even in this CrapsackWorld as an absolute evil.
* ''ComicBook/TheUnwritten'': Pullman, the most visible member of the AncientConspiracy, is a sadistic murderer who kills multiple people with relish; this includes a [[WouldHurtAChild little girl he smothered to death with a pillow]]. At times he goes out of his way to kill when he has absolutely no reason to execute the victims. Pullman admits his hatred for storytellers and goes out of his way to make such targets deaths as painful as possible. Seven thousand years old, Pullman has had time to wrack up an impressive count of misdeeds, including when he was travelling with [[Literature/TheEpicOfGilgamesh Gilgamesh]] himself, and raped or killed a woman that he sneered he 'used as cattle ought to be' when confronted. Pullman is ultimately revealed as attempting to slay the Leviathan, the creature behind all stories, in order to [[DeathSeeker achieve his own death]], as his own story as Cain, the first murderer, will not allow him to die. however, he has no intention of dying alone, and when he's dealt with deathblow by the heroes, he gloats to hero Tom at 'dragging his bitch' with him, having murdered Tom's girlfriend before receiving the final blow.

* For the Wildstorm universe in general, TAO is the most vile the world has to offer. TAO was created as the Tactical Augmented Organism, growing at an amazing rate into a man. The problem was, TAO grew with a sense of cold superiority and disdain for all others. He masterminded several wars between superheroes, resulting in many casualties, in an early attempt to end the world. Using his powerful hypnotic suggestion abilities, he forced the strongest heroes into being his sex slaves to prevent them from stopping him. After these plans fail, TAO reinvents himself as the ruler of a crime syndicate where he distinguishes himself with cold professionalism combined with violent sadism. As the hero of ''ComicBook/{{Sleeper}}'' describes it, TAO won't pull out your guts. He'll make you do it to yourself, and enjoy it all the while.
* [[GalacticConqueror Lord Helspont]] of the [[AliensAreBastards Daemonites]] is one of the most powerful and wicked of his kind. Stationed on Earth centuries ago, Helspont [[GrandTheftMe possessed the body]] of an Acuran and, in the 1970s, convinced a man named Slaughterhouse Smith into helping him unleash a [[NukeEm total nuclear holocaust]] among the planet to [[KillAllHumans decimate humanity]], having him slaughter a military base to procure the nukes-- before aiming the first at New York City and trying to force Smith to watch as his only friends and family were blown from the earth. From there onward, Helspont made numerous attempts to [[OmnicidalManiac eradicate all life]] on the planet or otherwise subject them, attempting to draw in his race through the "Reunification" to use all life as body suits for the Daemonites, and attempting to rewrite history itself to the Daemonites' advantage. A steadfast enemy of the ComicBook/WildCats, and especially of the Kherubim Mr. Majestic, Helspont's attempt to kill them, in the skin of [[CorruptCorporateExecutive CEO James Wyvern]], had him [[BodyHorror fuse his soldiers into one horrible abomination]] to be loosed on his enemies, and attempted to have the Youngbloods and the [=WildC.A.T.S.=] wipe each other out to make his own goals easier. Even when [[TeethClenchedTeamwork forced to ally with Mr. Majestic]] upon the invasion of Javen and his Kheran minions, Helspont still betrayed Majestic and tried to steal the power of the ancient Planet Shaper Javen sought to reshape the planet in his own image and wipe out all life, turning down Majestic's offer of mutual peace out of sheer hatred. Driven by undying, genocidal spite towards the Kherubim and the human life he sees as inferior, and with countless acts of murder and torture on his hands, Helspont remained one of the most persevering and deadly foes within the [=WildStorm=] universe for very good reason.
* [[TerroristsWithoutACause Kaizen Gamorra]], patriarch of Clan Gamorra after killing his brothers and absolute dictator of the rogue Asian nation Gamorra, is a cruel {{sadist}} even by the standards of [=WildStorm=]'s RoguesGallery. Deposed as the ruler of his nation for decades and replaced with the imposter John Colt, Kaizen takes over Gamorra again once Colt is deposed and quickly proves himself miles worse than his predecessor, having a plane full of 233 innocent people bombed with no survivors and allowing the Gen-Factor stored on the plane to spill into the nearby town to kill most of its populace through [[BodyHorror nightmarish mutation]]. Gleefully boasting that his very nation and philosophies are founded on [[ForTheEvulz terrorism for its own sake]], Kaizen uses his army of cloned superhumans in an attempt to slaughter millions of people across the world's most major cities to transfix the planet with fear. Violently oppressing his own people when not actively attempting to attack the rest of the world, marrying wives he soon discards by countless numbers and having the nation's Mechajin population brutally exploited as slaves of every sort, Kaizen's reaction to the coming end of the world is to bring his estranged daughter to his side through manipulation and turn Gamorra into a floating, impenetrable superweapon. When the apocalypse hits, Kaizen has his superhuman soldiers massacre the survivors by the hundreds, intending to plunder the remains of Earth for resources before using the Bleed to attack, crush, and conquer every other parallel Earth. A tyrant who devotes himself to the spread of terror and suffering for nothing more than his own amusement, Kaizen boils down his philosophies to being a wolf in a world of sheep, a terrorist only too gleeful to slaughter millions of people and keep all else cowed in perpetual fear of what he can do to them.
* ''ComicBook/TheAuthority'': [[InsaneAdmiral Regis Slzfi]], warmongering dictator of the alternate Earth named Sliding Albion, earns the distinctive honor, despite [[ArcVillain only appearing in 4 issues in 1999]], of being one of the most astonishingly vile villains to ever fight against the Authority. A member of the Blue which colonized Sliding Albion centuries ago, Regis distinguishes himself from even the other Blues by virtue of his aggression and {{sadis|t}}m, poisoning the entire planet through repeated campaigns of war and overuse of chemical weapons that lead to countless lives lost. When Regis is tasked to repopulate the dying Sicilian-Blues-- poisoned by Regis's own insane conquest--Regis starts using entire countries as rape camps, invading highly populated countries like China and totally butchering the male populations to use the entirety of the females as rape fodder. Regis's [[EvilIsPetty pettiness]] and arrogance leads him to attempt to [[OffingTheOffspring murder his own son Lorenzo]] and his wife when they wed, vowing to slaughter the entire city and decorate it with the skinned faces of its populace, and tricking a man into slaughtering an entire gathering of people before [[YourHeadAsplode crushing the man's head]] and [[ImAHumanitarian devouring his children]] due to [[DisproportionateRetribution an offhand insult the man makes]]. To complete his task of repopulation, Regis has his forces assault the main Earth with the intention to turn the entire planet into a rape camp, and roars to Midnighter whilst beating him into a bloody pulp that he's butchered and raped countless people over half a millennium. [[ItsAllAboutMe Egotistical]] and xenophobic among a laundry list of other traits and unconcerned even with the survival of his own people so long as he can glory in his own victories, Regis is one of the singularly most depraved villains to ever grace the CrapsackWorld he inhabits.
* ''ComicBook/{{Crimson}}'': [[TheVamp Lisseth]], the [[VampireMonarch Queen of All Vampires]], is the originator of all evil in the world and the [[MonsterProgenitor progenitor of every living vampire]]. After being spurned from God's sight due to her imperfections and further turned down a place at Lucifer's side, Lisseth drank the blood of her former lover and fellow outcast Ekimus, stealing his immortality and becoming the first vampire. Still craving revenge for her exile, Lisseth enacts a plan to eliminate the Chosen One, Alex Elder, and [[BigBadDuumvirate teams up]] with fellow vampire lord [[CorruptPolitician Victor Van Fleet]]. Lisseth greets Alex on a pile of [[UsefulNotes/TheKnightsTemplar Templars]] she's massacred, and later tricks her former lover into releasing the ancient Chalkydri lord Sopha, who begins an assault meant to wipe out all mankind. This is all the first part of Lisseth's ultimate plan, which aims for nothing more than [[OmnicidalManiac the complete destruction of all creation]]--Heaven, Hell, and Earth and their rulers--and then to remake creation in her own image. In the final battle, Lisseth delves low enough to [[WouldHurtAChild murder a child]] and her father after they refuse to pay tribute to her and kills the fallen angel Zophiel in a failed attempt to kill Alex, and ultimately dies raving on how she seeks to destroy everything and everyone. Always a selfish, envious monster at heart, Lisseth's own evil was reflected in the very breed of monsters she birthed.
* ''The Ferryman'', by Marc Andreyko & Jonathan Wayshak:
** "[[BigBad Mr. Webster]]" is a demonic dealmaker who preys on the perceived "weaknesses" of humanity, be it a hunger for power or a deep compassion for others, and tricks people into making [[DealWithTheDevil deals with him]] to grant their greatest wishes in exchange for their eternal soul. Webster can and will screw over those he makes deals with [[ForTheEvulz for his own amusement]], in one notable instance curing a woman's daughter of her leukemia, then arranging for both to die in a car wreck soon after. When any of his debtors try to get out of handing over their soul, Webster sends his Ferrymen, dead people he has tricked into serving him by lying that he can show them the way to Heaven, after the debtors, and once he gets his hands on them, Webster agonizingly [[YourSoulIsMine devours their souls]] as he does to all his victims, [[{{Sadist}} relishing their pain and suffering]] as he does so. Alongside all of this, Webster is revealed to [[HistoricalRapSheet have hand a heavy hand]] in the rise of UsefulNotes/NaziGermany, the success of countless {{serial killer}}s, and UsefulNotes/TheHindenburg disaster. With an unsurprising depravity and wickedness about him due to being {{Satan}} himself, "Mr. Webster" is handily one of the most evil incarnations of the Devil seen in comics.
** Harold Alan Kent, known as "the Bleeder", is a {{sadist}}ic SerialKiller obsessed with blood, and sates this obsession by murdering innocents of all backgrounds and races by draining them of all their blood while they are conscious, [[LovesTheSoundOfScreaming taking a picture of their screaming faces]], then [[CreepySouvenir putting the blood in a jar]] to keep on his trophy case. With said [[TrophyRoom trophy case]] filled with dozens of jars of dozens of victims, the Bleeder takes his evil one step further when he specifically targets the wife of the detective assigned his case, Gideon Thorne, mocking Thorne when arrested that his wife kept screaming that her husband would save her, but he never did. Despite being murdered by Thorne in a blind rage, the Bleeder is revived by the aforementioned "Mr. Webster" as one of his Ferrymen, a position the Bleeder immediately begins using to try to murder innocents, succeeding in [[SlashedThroat slashing the throat]] of one of Gideon's friends. In the end, the Bleeder takes every opportunity while dueling Thorne to [[KickTheDog taunt the man]] about his wife's death at his hands, and dies with a smile on his face, always taking sick glee from pain.
* ''ComicBook/FreddyVsJasonVsAsh'': [[SerialKiller Freddy Krueger]] is the same {{sadist}}ic [[WouldHurtAChild child-murdering]] monster he is in [[Franchise/ANightmareOnElmStreet the films]], and more. Following the events of [[Film/FreddyVsJason the film]], Freddy continues his spree of evil by once again manipulating [[Franchise/FridayThe13th Jason Voorhees]] into finding the [[TomeOfEldritchLore Necromonicon Ex Mortis]] to grant him reality-warping powers before sending the [[Franchise/EvilDead Deadites]] against Jason when he turns against him. He takes things further in ''The Nightmare Warriors'', where upon his return, Freddy takes control of the Deadite army, placing Jason as general. At Freddy behest, Jason and the Deadites leave death and destruction throughout Washington, where Freddy takes control of the White House where he reveals his plan for "No Child Left Alive" and the carnage he plans on spreading across the world. Revealing himself to be in a incestuous relationship with[[VillainousIncest his daughter Kathryn]], possibly due to brainwashing, when she fights with Jason, Freddy admits he plans to kill her when they are finished. Freddy [[DemonicPossession possesses]] Stephanie to seduce and abduct Jacob, before encouraging Stephanie to kill as a Voorhees. Upon Jason's death, Freddy absorbs his soul as well before boasting himself as a "[[AGodAmI Dream God]]". Now desiring power and domination in addition to his bloodlust, Freddy takes his evil from the films to a more grandiose level.
* ''ComicBook/TheLeagueOfExtraordinaryGentlemen'': [[InvisibleJerkass Hawley Griffin]], aka Literature/TheInvisibleMan, is a [[AxCrazy psychopath]] recruited by England so that his powers could be utilized for special missions, and is [[AdaptationalVillainy far worse than his literary counterpart]]. Introduced hiding in an all-girls boarding school, Griffin's been taking advantage of his powers to [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil rape the teenagers there]]. He's already impregnated three girls and is apprehended in the process of raping a fourth. When he joins the league, it's not out of any sense of altruism but because he's been promised a cure for his condition, a pardon for his crimes, and a large sum of money. During his tenure on the team, Griffin displays streaks of cruelty and cowardice in equal measure. At one point he beats an innocent constable to death simply because he wanted the man's clothes, and at the climax of the team's first adventure, Griffin [[DirtyCoward attempts to abandon the league to their deaths when things get too dangerous]]. With the arrival of the invading Martians, [[LesCollaborateurs Griffin eagerly approaches them and sells out his entire planet to the invaders just so he can rule alongside them]]. Griffin gives the Martians information on where the human artillery positions are so they can slaughter their opposition; tries to get his teammates killed by selling out the location of their hideout's location; [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown brutalizes Mina Murray]] while stealing valuable military information; and advises the Martians to use their Red Weed to destroy the Thames and incapacitate the ''[[CoolBoat Nautilus]]''. In a series where [[BlackAndGrayMorality even monsters can be heroes]], Griffin was never anything but a [[ItsAllAboutMe selfish, megalomaniacal snake]] who was willing to let his race be butchered and enslaved just so he could rule over what was left.
* ''VideoGame/ModernWarfare 2: Ghost'': In this comic book prequel miniseries, Manuel "[[FatBastard El Gordo]]" Roba is the leader of the Zaragoza Drug Cartel. A target to the United States due to his drug and terrorist smuggling activities, [[BreakoutCharacter Simon Riley]] was sent alongside a US squad to kill him. The squad was betrayed by their leader Vernon to Roba, who proceeds to subject the squad to [[MindRape months of brutal brainwashing]], [[ColdBloodedTorture torturing them]] under drug-induced insomnia and forcing them to fight each other, uncaring if they die or not since [[LackOfEmpathy Roba considers all men to be expendable]]. In one case, Roba hanged Riley from a tree from hooks in his waist because he displays resistance. Roba [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness kills]] the annoying [[RewardedAsATraitorDeserves Vernon]] and [[BuriedAlive buries the unturning Riley alive with his corpse]]. When Riley escapes, Roba sent his [[BrainwashedAndCrazy successfully brainwashed soldiers]] to take care of him. Under Roba's orders, they were sent to UK where they murdered everyone associated with Riley, including his family, his shrink and his superior, before [[FrameUp pinning all the murders on Riley]] to completely ruin his life.
* ''ComicBook/North40'': [[MisanthropeSupreme Dyan]] abominates her home county with a magical tome out of spite. [[BalefulPolymorph Mutating many of the townsfolk into horrific monstrosities]], Dyan laughs as they tear each other apart. When her actions end up summoning a destructive god, Dyan delights as it slaughters all in its path. Enraged by Robert enacting a barrier, restricting her powers to the county, Dyan tries to get him to dismantle it and when he refuses, sends a girl through it, cursing her to die unless she brings back more victims.
* ''ComicBook/{{Planetary}}'': Randall Dowling is a twisted MadScientist and leader of The Four, an evil analogue of ComicBook/TheFantasticFour. Having made contact with another world, Dowling plans to assist it in conquering earth in exchange for power. Keeping Earth's technology at its current level by withholding or suppressing discoveries that could eradicate disease and save countless lives, in order to prevent humanity's advancement, Dowling [[WouldHurtAChild locates children]] with budding technological skill able to advance humanity. He has their families killed in "[[MakeItLookLikeAnAccident accidents]]", before [[MindRape tormenting]] and brainwashing the kids into using their talents to stifle humanity's growth, with bombs planted in them in case anyone tries to rescue them. Using the Red Scare as a threat, Dowling also creates "City Zero", where suspected "spies" are rounded up and [[TestedOnHumans subjected to inhuman experiments]], [[AndIMustScream kept alive in horrible agony]] for Dowling's purposes. To store his experiments and weapons, Dowling also wiped out all life on a planet, just to insure it was freed for storage. Treating his fellow members of the Four as disposable as well, Dowling's only care is [[ItsAllAboutMe for his own ego, advancement and power]], no matter how many worlds he sacrifices.
* ''Steampunk'', by Joe Kelly et al.: [[BigBad Lord Mortimer Absinthe]] is the tyrannical ruler of the Absinthian Empire in an alternate 1800s Europe. Once a disturbed MadScientist infamous for conducting [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals grotesque experiments on animals]]—one of which, his pet dog, he mutilated and experimented when he was only [[EnfantTerrible 5 years old]]—the fisherman Cole Blaquesmith turned to Absinthe in a moment of desperation to cure his beloved Fiona. After Cole had retrieved knowledge from the future for Absinthe in return for curing Fiona, Absinthe [[ILied spitefully lets Fiona die]] and tears out Cole's heart. Over a period of years with the knowledge he's cultivated, Absinthe orchestrates a murderous takeover of Europe and sets up a despotic regime where the lower-class are forced underground into incredible squalor and the tiniest hint of rebellion is killed. Absinthe perpetrates a bloody, genocidal war against France leading to colossal loss of life, sets up free slave labor in the Chasm Community--with promises to kill any slave that stops providing him labor--and in his crowning moment of evil murders a prisoner in front of one of the Vatican's agents and prepares to hand off millions of London's own populace to be killed in the Consecration Engine via [[CruelAndUnusualDeath having radium injected into their brains]]. When Cole returns from slumber in Absinthe's reign, Absinthe takes a perverse glee in [[KickTheDog mocking him about Fiona's death]] and hands him to his agent Nixon to be tortured, ordering Nixon to be killed when Nixon betrays him. Regularly perpetrating murder, torture, massacres, and cruel experiments in his free time, Absinthe's sardonic sense of humor and tendency for flamboyancy is only outweighed by his limitless capacity for sadism and cruelty towards everyone who does--and doesn't--oppose him.

* [[MadScientist Dr. Nathan Flack]], otherwise known as [[MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate Dr. Nemo]], is the first Bang Baby and mastermind behind the Big Bang event and all of the psychopaths it spawned. Responsible for creating the physics-altering Q Juice, Nathan is accidentally exposed to his own creation and ends up anchored out of the physical plane unless he concentrates. Testing out his new powers in a variety of ways, up to full-blown murder in broad daylight, Nathan renames himself Dr. Nemo and poisons Dakota City's tear gas grenades with the Q Juice in the wake of a major turf war. The resulting usage of the bombs ends up fatally poisoning hundreds of people and mutating the rest into superpowered "Bang Babies." Gleeful at seeing the Q Juice's effects, Nemo decides to go global and hijacks Headmaster's plans for world domination, intending to detonate a missile filled with Q Juice and drown all humanity in it, killing off most of the world's populace whilst mutating the rest. Never shown as anything more than a [[ItsAllAboutMe smug, egotistical]] man willing to condemn millions of people to death purely [[ForScience to test out the effects of his own creation]], Dr. Nemo is one of the vilest supervillains in the Milestone universe.
* ''Deathwish'': James Gordon Staley, better known as "Boots," is a sick-minded, [[AxCrazy psychopathic]] SerialKiller with a twisted obsession with transsexuals and a track record of rape, torture, and murder dating back years, with countless victims to his name. Growing bored with simple murder, Boots decides to become a MadArtist, torturing and massacring entire houses filled with transsexual prostitutes in order to make perverse sculptures out of their dead bodies, horribly [[BadBoss brutalizing his own minions]] if they get in his way. Boots's intended masterpiece is Dini, his former charge who he attempted to rape ten years ago, kidnapping her and leaving a taunting message to her lover Marisa Rahm in her own apartment.
* ''ComicBook/{{Icon}}'': The alien menace [[AxCrazy Kali'kak]], better known by his self-given moniker of [[NamesToRunAwayFrom Oblivion]], defines himself as one of Arnus's most brutal foes and sticks out from the rest of the Cooperative's peaceful society. Growing tired of his race's virtual immortality, Kali'kak develops an academic knowledge on death which eventually blossoms into an unhealthy obsession with the concept. Murdering his own therapist after being transferred to the Prison Planet for his own well-being, Kali'kak is enraptured at committing murder with his own hands and vengefully sabotages an occupied space liner Arnus is on. Shortly after committing a prolonged massacre of his own people resulting in around 350 casualties, Kali'kak rechristens himself Oblivion and makes his way to Earth after having learned Arnus, now known as Icon, is still alive. Butchering two joggers who find him and enthralled that death is permanent for Earth's beings, Oblivion begins a one-man crusade to [[OmnicidalManiac kill every sentient being on the planet]] with his own bare hands. To this end, Oblivion indiscriminately slaughters his way into Dakota City, leading to countless fatalities; gleefully stabs [[spoiler:Icon's lovable replacement Buck Wild]] to death; and attempts to suffocate Icon's young sidekick Rocket, sadistically assuring her he'll go after her friends and her [[WouldHurtAChild infant son]] next. Ruthless, utterly psychopathic, and with a monstrous appearance to compound his evil, Oblivion's limitless appetite for murder cements him as one of Icon's most wicked foes.
* ''Kobalt'': [[PsychoForHire Mr. Glass]] is a ruthless [[ProfessionalKiller assassin]] with a penchant for [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill wreaking wide swaths of havoc]] even when it's completely unnecessary to his overall goal. With an incredibly long streak of bodies already on his hands, Glass introduces himself blowing up a school bus simply to kill the driver, [[WouldHurtAChild murdering every single child]] on the bus in the process. Glass later blows up a gang meeting and personally guns down every survivor himself with a giant smile on his face. Glass [[EvenEvilHasStandards disgusts even his amoral employer Milton St. Cloud]] and sociopathic anti-hero Harvest, and Glass remains completely unrepentant even when faced with death at Harvest's hands, sneering that he simply can't feel.
* ''Xombi'':
** David Kim's [[StarterVillain very first foe]], [[MadScientist Dr. Sugarman]], is the madman responsible for turning Kim into Xombi in the first place. A [[MadDoctor former surgeon]] already responsible for several horrible experiments, among them transforming [[WouldHurtAChild children]] into [[FateWorseThanDeath pained abominations who lived for days on end before perishing]], Sugarman forsakes science for the occult to further his [[ImmortalityImmorality pursuit of immortality]]. Learning of nanites invented by Dr. Kim which repair tissue at superhuman rates, Sugarman unleashes the Rustling Husks into the Organitek building to massacre whomever gets in their way and steal the nanites. Sugarman's ultimate plan, after stealing the nanites, is to unleash a titanic abomination called the Lord of Fumes to [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt destroy the entire planet and leave it a lifeless, polluted husk]].
** Leland Crowne, the fanatical leader of the Beli Mah {{cult}}, is a [[AxCrazy madman]] hell-bent on imposing his version of order on the world. Seeking to shatter everyone as an individual, Crowne creates agents for the Beli Mah called Painful Inscriptions via infusing negative emotions into people he abducts, painfully transforming them into the embodiment of that emotion--the worst instance of this being when he funnels the emotions into a pregnant woman, resulting in her giving birth to two babies who's lower halves are giant hands. Using the Inscriptions to assassinate any threats to the cult, regardless of civilian casualties, Crowne painfully transfuses Xombi himself into an Inscription and gleefully has him butcher his own friends. Crowne's ultimate goal is to turn the angel Israfel into an Inscription--regardless of the potential of killing millions in the process--with the intent of exterminating the rival cult of the Veil before breaking everyone worldwide. [[LackOfEmpathy Apathetic]] even to the deaths of his own devoted followers, Crowne is devoted only to his delusional idea of "truth. "
** [[ManipulativeBastard Roland Finch]], from the 2011 revival [[note]]which takes place in the DC Universe proper[[/note]], is a [[FauxAffablyEvil seemingly-charming]] man only out for [[ItsAllAboutMe self-advancement]]. Perpetually pursued by various enemies he's made in his long history of deceit, Finch seduces a woman named Annie Palmer, integrating himself with the Ninth Stronghold. Finch subtly tears the entire civilization apart through his manipulations before murdering the twin rulers of the Stronghold and massacring the survivors himself, casting Palmer down to Earth to live her remaining days alone. Intending to completely wipe out the twenty other Strongholds to enjoy the luxury of the Stronghold alone, Finch manipulates Palmer's desire to go home and continues using her as a pawn, having her slaughter a prison and release a prisoner he's infused with the embodiment of rage itself, fully intending on awakening the entity and having it kill Palmer once he's done with using her. Never shown denying how self-absorbed he is and instead opting to [[CardCarryingVillain revel in it]], Finch is little more than a cruel, manipulative snake of a man willing to use and abuse people as he sees fit.

* ''Franchise/StarTrek'': [[Recap/StarTrekS2E14WolfInTheFold Redjac]] returns in both the [[Creator/DCComics DC]] and Creator/{{Wildstorm}} comics. In the DC two-parter, "Wolf on the Prowl" and "Wolf at the Door", it commits several more murders in the body of an Enterprise crewperson, had established itself as the "God of Evil" on a primitive planet, and killed thousands of said planet’s inhabitants to give itself power in a last-ditch effort to get revenge on Kirk by destroying the Enterprise. In the Wildstorm comic "Embrace the Wolf", based on the [[Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration TNG]] universe, it provoked an all-out nuclear war on a peaceful Federation planet, and challenged Data in his Sherlock Holmes persona to save his fellow crew members while Redjac took up its mantle once again as UsefulNotes/JackTheRipper. Acting less as a senseless predator and more as a psychotic {{serial killer}} on a galactic level, Redjac is one of the worst that Star Trek has to offer.

* ''ComicBook/TheGoldenAge'': The BigBadDuumvirate, consisting of UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler and the Ultra-Humanite, aim to TakeOverTheWorld. During UsefulNotes/WorldWarII, the Ultra-Humanite performed inhumane experiments on German prisoners to perfect his process to BodySurf, killing all the scientists who helped him, before placing his mind inside superhero [[spoiler:Tex Thompson]]. Becoming an [[spoiler:American senator]], the Ultra-Humanite places [[spoiler:Hitler's brain inside another superhero, Dynaman]], and the duo begin plotting to take over America and launch a war on all communist countries. When exposed at a press conference, Hitler attacks the heroes present, killing many civilians in his rampage, while ranting he will use his newfound power to conquer the planet with force.

* ''Wonder Woman: Amazonia'' (''{{Elseworld}}s'' one-shot by William Messner-Loebs et al.): King Jack Planters is a seemingly-noble American who takes the throne after a mysterious explosion decimates the entirety of the Royal Family. In truth the notorious UsefulNotes/JackTheRipper who rigged the explosion himself after his initial killings, Jack keeps the sole survivor as a paralyzed trophy and plunges his nation into a brutal war with France whilst keeping the women of the country as lower-class citizens. A [[HeManWomanHater raving misogynist]] in his meantime, Jack invents a drug to erase men's “femininity” to reduce them to bloodthirsty beasts and spreads the drug among his inner circle to have them [[HuntingTheMostDangerousGame hunt down and butcher captured women for sport]], hoping to raise his son as an equally-bloodthirsty heir and laughing that he slaughtered his own wife alongside a hundred others for the purpose of establishing a “Ripper's world” among the land he rules over. Even when Diana herself saves his life from an earlier attack, Jack smugly brushes the matter off by revealing the attempted assassin was a friend of Jack's before he murdered his daughter in a fit of cruel lust, later trying to make Diana herself as the centerpiece of his latest hunt while kidnapping her children to grow up under cruel experimentation.

** [[MadScientist Krona]], also known as Entropy, is a self-styled scientist and a rogue Maltusian hell-bent on imposing his ideal of "order" on reality. Inadvertently responsible for the creation of the multiverse and evil itself through his experiments--most prominently the omnicidal [[ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths Anti-Monitor]] upon the creation of the antimatter universe--Krona's covert experimentation on the Manhunters, the soldiers of the Guardians of the Universe, resulted in them going haywire and decimating countless lives through Sector 666, leaving only five people alive. Eventually banished and reduced to primeval energy, Krona assumed the name of Entropy and, still intent on [[ForScience continuing his experiments]], took service under Nekron, intending to release him into the living universe. Later brought back into the universe through the efforts of Maltusian Controllers, Krona enslaved and then obliterated them, attempting to wage war on the consciousness of the universe, even destroying Earth to this cause--and attempting to destroy its soul in a fit of existential pique when it challenged his conceptions of the universe. By the time of ''ComicBook/BrightestDay'', Krona enslaves Parallax and the emotional entities to force his will upon all creation, taking over the Green Lantern Corps and destroying thousands of lives to his cause. Possessed of [[AGodAmI such a god complex]] that he is willing to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy entire universes]], Krona's only true desire to slake his unending thirst for knowledge, and remains one of the greatest threats in the DCU.

* ''ComicBook/TheGoldenAge'': The BigBadDuumvirate, consisting of UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler and the Ultra-Humanite, aim to TakeOverTheWorld. ** Krona's arrogance led to the creation of the multiverse and antimatter universe and/or evil[[note]]other versions involve entropy and the "universe being born old"[[/note]], but if that was just a result of him holding the IdiotBall, the stuff he did after that put him well across the MoralEventHorizon. ''War of the Green Lanterns'' retconned him into being the one who was behind the Manhunter's annihilating a sector, but we had seem him do far, far worse long before we learnt that, and at the absolute apex of his villainy he was callously destroying entire ''universes'' because he thought he could do better. The most chilling thing about him is that he can commit mass murder on a multiversal scale with zero compunction, [[TautologicalTemplar and believe he was completely in the right to do so.]]

* ''ComicBook/{{Transmetropolitan}}'': Senator (and eventually [[PresidentEvil President]]) [[BigBad Gary "The Smiler" Callahan]], in a world nearly without ethics, he goes above and beyond the call of evil. He has his campaign coordinator publicly assassinated to win sympathy for himself after his campaign went into the gutter; he has his ''family'' killed in an "accident" to again win sympathy; he has a member of his StateSec pull a sniper spree on civilians so that no one would notice the freak storm brewing nearby, a storm that causes massive damage and loss of life, all so he could wipe the evidence against him from existence (and that was a fool's errand as Spider kept his own private records, meaning that the Smiler did what he did for nothing); he has a peaceful protest of college students riddled with bullets at the first opportunity of "I thought he was pulling a gun"; he allows the brutal murderers of an innocent kid to go free and orders the cops to butcher all of the protesters as soon as violence was initiated (and it was done so by the murderers) and then (briefly) used his power to prevent the media from even acknowledging the riot and the slaughter of innocent civilians from happening.
