** When Marinette expresses interest in trying out for in a video tournament to spend time with Adrien in "The Gamer," she gets called out on it by Alya, who stresses how the tryouts are meant to select the two best students to represent the school in the tournament. Marinette then proves she ''is'' the best video game player by getting the highest score of everyone who tried out and thus securing one of the two tournament spots. However, she then gets called out for this as well, this time for being selfish and not thinking about how her friend Max cares about the tournament so much more than she does. Her later offering to drop out and let Max take her place in the tournament is portrayed as her doing the right thing, even though it goes against the earlier emphasis of how the tryouts are meant to select the ''best'' students to represent the school since Max only came in third behind both Marinette ''and'' Adrien.

** Expecting a "perfect solution" to your problems can hurt others. Gabriel wants the happy family he had back, but believes that the only solution is to bring his wife back from the dead with what is essentially a human sacrifice. This mentality is reflected in all his akuma victims, who become villains when they get caught up in a problem and think accepting superpowers in a deal with Hawk Moth is the only solution. However, Ladybug and Cat Noir usually help the villain come up with a more grounded solution after the fight is done, teaching viewers that what you ''can'' do is work with others to find a solution that, while not always perfect, is much more realistic and benefits everyone.

* DubNameChange:
** Likely to avoid FluffyTheTerrible, Hawk Moth's name was changed from "le Papillon", which literally translates to "the butterfly".
** Cat Noir's name is often changed in dubs, see the GratuitousForeignLanguage entry.
** The Mandarin Chinese dub does translations and transliterations with character names. With Ladybug and Cat Noir, they mix both which causes some [[RepetitiveName Repetitive Naming]], as Ladybug's dub name translates back to "Ladybug Lady" in English, and Cat Noir's translates to "Cat Noir Noir" in French. Hawk Moth's dub name (加百利, ''jiābǎilì'') doesn't reference a butterfly or any other dub name, but is instead a loose transliteration of "Gabriel" (加百列, ''jiābǎiliè'').
* DubPronunciationChange: Lila's name is pronounced "lie-lah" instead of "lee-lah" in the English, Chinese, Korean, and Russian dubs.

* AnimalThemedSuperbeing: This applies to all the Miraculous wielders to one degree or another. The powers granted by a Miraculous ''mostly'' have little to do with the actual abilities of the animal in question, and are more related to the symbolic meanings assigned to those animals.
** Ladybugs are seen as symbols of good luck and thus Ladybug's primary ability is good luck in the form of her Lucky Charm. It's later specified that Ladybug's actual power is the PowerOfCreation.
** Black cats are symbolic of bad luck so Cat Noir's main power is bad luck in the form of his [[MakeThemRot Cataclysm]]. Later episodes specify that his actual power is destruction.
*** Cat Noir does have InnateNightVision for an actual cat ability.
** Butterflies are symbolic of transformation and metamorphosis and thus Hawk Moth's main ability is SuperEmpowering which also links with the fact that Nooroo is the kwami of generosity.
** Foxes, in almost every culture in the world, are seen as tricksters. Fittingly Rena Rouge's superpower is [[MasterOfIllusion illusions]].
** Peacocks are seen as symbolic of vibrancy and [[spoiler:Mayura can create allies for Hawk Moth's akumas. In essence, she can enhance his powers, increasing the ''vibrancy''. When we get to see her powers firsthand, they're quite similar to Hawk Moth's and she describes her monsters as being emotion given form, so it's emotion that she makes more vibrant.]]
** Turtles are symbolic of protection. The Turtle's powers create a giant bubble force field that protects everyone inside.
** Bees are symbolic of hard work and productivity. [[spoiler:So for now, Chloé being Queen Bee is aversion. But if she can pull off some serious CharacterDevelopment, then it'll describe her perfectly.]] Moreover, the term 'queen bee' as applied to humans [[spoiler: describes her as the eventual wielder of the Bee Miraculous perfectly]].
** The Miraculous of the Chinese Zodiac all follow the same theme regarding the symbolic aspects of their powers, although it might not be as clear at a first glance:
*** It makes sense that the Horse Miraculous would grant the power of {{Teleportation}} since horses are one of the oldest forms of human transportation
*** The Monkey Miraculous having the power to induce chaos and malfunction on the enemy's powers is based on the stereotypical playfulness of monkeys.
*** The most obscure one is perhaps the Snake Miraculous bestowing the user with a ResetButton, referencing the imagery of the {{Ouroboros}} (which symbolizes an endless cycle).
*** The Mouse Miraculous is probably the most straightforward. It grants [[MesACrowd multiplication]], alluding to the mouse's infamy as an ExplosiveBreeder.
*** The Dragon Miraculous can [[{{ElementalShapeshifter}} embody]] aspects of the weather: [[BlowYouAway wind]], [[MakingASplash water]] and [[ShockAndAwe lightning]]. Chinese dragons do have the ability to manipulate storms according to mythology.

** D'Argencourt unsuccessfully challenged André Bourgeois in the mayoral elections, garnering the votes of only a small percentage of Parisians. In real life, however, Parisians don't vote for their mayor directly, and the Council of Paris instead elects the Mayor of Paris from among its members. Moreover, a prerequisite for sitting on the Council of Paris is being elected to an arrondissement (administrative district) council. There's no mention of D'Argencourt being a member of the Council of Paris or an arrondissement council, though, and him continuing to work as a P.E. and fencing teacher seems to outright refute that.

** The episode "Rogercop" is supposed to be conveying the message "don't be quick to point fingers", but the way it does it is flawed. When Chloé accuses Marinette of stealing her bracelet, Marinette starts listing motives that her classmates might have had for stealing it. Marinette's father tells her she shouldn't be making accusations like Chloé is doing, but that's not what Marinette was doing. Rather, Marinette was pointing out that in the absence of solid evidence, EveryoneIsASuspect, and thus she deserves to be treated the same as everyone else instead of singled out. Even her agreeing to having her bag searched along with everyone else's and innocuously stating that the thief must be someone in the room is treated as her making kneejerk accusations that are no different than Chloé's. Then, when the titular MonsterOfTheWeek tries to arrest the mayor for abuse of power, Ladybug gives a MeaningfulEcho by saying Rogercop shouldn't be making accusations, [[DesignatedVillain except he wasn't doing that, either]]; the mayor was clearly abusing his powers (and some that he doesn't even have) by having Roger fired for not arresting Marinette without sufficient evidence, something that took place in full view of a classroom filled with students, their parents, and the teacher.

When Chloé accuses Marinette of stealing her bracelet, Marinette starts listing motives that pointing out evidence connecting some of her classmates might have had for stealing it. to the bracelet, to which Marinette's father tells her she shouldn't be making accusations like Chloé is doing, but doing. However, that's not what Marinette was doing. Rather, Marinette was pointing out that in the absence of solid evidence, EveryoneIsASuspect, and she thus she deserves to be treated the same as everyone else instead of singled out. Even her agreeing to having her bag searched along with everyone else's and innocuously stating that the thief must be someone in the room is treated as her making kneejerk accusations that are no different than Chloé's. Then, when the titular MonsterOfTheWeek tries to arrest the mayor for abuse of power, Ladybug gives a MeaningfulEcho by saying Rogercop shouldn't be making accusations, [[DesignatedVillain except he wasn't doing that, either]]; the mayor was clearly abusing his powers (and some that he doesn't even have) by having Roger fired for not arresting Marinette without sufficient evidence, something that took place in full view of a classroom filled with students, their parents, and the teacher. teacher.

* ComicBookTime: The passage of time is very inconsistent throughout the seasons. Holidays get referenced that would indicate the passage of a year or two, such as the celebration of Valentine's day in the season 1 episode, Dark Cupid," and the celebration of King's Day (January 6th) in the season 4 episode "Dear Family," but Marinette and Adrien only have one birthday each, the school year never seems to end, and season 5's references to Adrien's sheltered past state that he's only attended public school for a few months.

* BadPowersGoodPeople: Cat Noir. Beyond his cat-themed abilities, his power set revolves around bad luck, destruction and decay. Definitely not the typical powers for a hero. His [[SpecialAttack Cataclysm]] attack literally ''[[MakeThemRot rots away]]'' the first thing he touches after triggering it. In "Dark Cupid", a brainwashed Cat Noir tries to touch a person, saying he always wondered what would happen if it is used on a living being.

Platts explicitly states "there is a reason there is also a kwami of Destruction."

* DisappointedByTheMotive: Played with. Understandably, this also makes many people do their damnedest to not make anybody angry and others like Chloe are borderline literal villain factories [[HateSink from how much they go out of their way to piss people off]].

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: The 2021 manga adaptation [[AdaptationalExpansion expands upon Adrien's loss of his mother]]. At the start of Chapter 4, Adrien wakes up from a dream about her and bursts into tears, and is then so distracted by it that he accidentally insults Nathaniel's comic in class and becomes one of Evillustrator's targets. This contrasts with the show, where Adrien's specific grief about Emilie is rarely touched upon.
