* PragmaticAdaptation: This manga has little to do with the video game that shares its title. Given the original game was a PrincessMaker style "child raising" simulator, complete with Shinji marrying whoever he got into a relationship with, the story ends up being a mix of events from the game played for comedy with elements of a harem manga.

* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Auska makes most of her female classmates swoon when she cross-dresses as Romeo for their class play.

* UglyGuyHotWife: Gendou/Yui. Debatable.

* GenerationXerox: Rei compares her relationship with Shinji with his parents'. [[FreudWasRight Be very afraid]]. [[spoiler: Ritsuko]] shows hints of GenerationXerox too, ''kind of'' like in the original anime. FreudWasRight, I said...

* {{Badass}}: Gendou has his moments, but Yui is the true master in the story despite looking moemoe. Also, Rei's fighting skills are ''impressive''.

** In volume 13, [[spoiler:[[AliensMadeThemDoIt hypnotized]]]] Shinji actually does molest them, in Asukas words "clearly intentionally!" (unlike [[AccidentalPervert every other time]]). They get all limp like string-cut puppets, and are left by him in [[NotIfTheyEnjoyedItRationalization post-orgasmic glow]] that Yui needs to snap them out off.

* HollywoodNerd: Kyouko has a perfect body and skin despite being a socially withdrawn, reclusive geek who hardly ever sees the sun.

* LighterAndSofter: It's pretty much of a {{Moe}} / WidgetSeries version of ''Evangelion'': light-hearted, considerably dumbed down and where almost everybody has his or her cute moments; also, anxiety can probably be cured by hugs, food, or Shinji's radiant goodness. Most of the characters are better adjusted than they'll ever be in the original verse and there's no trace of childhood trauma so far. ''Raising Project'' still includes a darker subtext about separated families, as the Ikaris hardly ever get to have dinner together, Kyouko hides in the Nerv basement, and Asuka's father is absent or dead, with the result that Shinji and Asuka still live at Misato's most of the time. Rei's background hasn't been explained in the manga so far, but she seems to have grown up mostly at Nerv and been rejected by other kids for being "weird," doesn't have parents, and images from the video game suggest [[spoiler: the Reiquarium still exists]]. The children are still Nerv's lab rats and kept in the dark about everything, too, but the direction occasionally throws a party for them for [[strike: damage control]] their efforts.

* YaoiFangirls: Probably.

* {{Oyaji}}: Gendou, depending on how you define the term (possibly more towards "oyadi" and how you interpret the character.)

Compare ''Girlfriend Of Steel 2'' and its spinoff manga, ''AngelicDays''.

* ScaryShinyGlasses: Parodied. Gendou strikes scary poses while announcing his next plans. Also, Kensuke while attempting to reveal SEELE's terrifying plans -much like his role in ''NeonGenesisEvangelionGakuenDatenroku''.

* IncestIsRelative: Shinji/Rei. In the video game, Shinji can even marry her.
** KissingCousins at most, considering they likely only share about 25% DNA, assuming Rei is still [[spoiler:half-angel]] as in the anime/manga.

* {{Baka}}: Asuka to Shinji, about a million times. Occasionally, Rei to Shinji due to feeling awkward about her feelings.

** Also, Asuka's daydreams about [[spoiler: marrying Shinji]] really make one wonder what her couple would look like. Possibly a hundred variations of AccidentalPervert ->{{Baka}} -> MegatonPunch -> [[ComedicSociopathy comical crying / bleeding / bruising]].

* ObliviousToLove: {{Baka}} Shinji, with his whole harem. Gendou, with Ritsuko.

* CashCowFranchise: Seriously, Gainax, what next?

* FanNickname: [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks Some angry Eva fans]] have nicknamed this Rei "RIAO" - Rei In Appearance Only.

* ThirdOptionLoveInterest: All of Shinji's potential love interests but Rei and Asuka, which means Kaworu, Mana, possibly Ritsuko, as well as Aoi, Kaede, Satsuki, and Misato in the game. Kaworu stands out as the 'threat' that drives Asuka and Rei to ally against him "[[UnfortunateImplications to put Shinji back on the right path]]."

* ArentYouGoingtoRavishMe: When Shinji accidentally gropes Asuka or Rei, thing he can say to them that infuriates them most is: "I didn't mean to do it!"

** In one extra chapter, Rei gets drunk on fumes after having some of Misato's stuff splashed on her. When Asuka cleans her up in the bathroom, she suddenly starts [[LesYay molesting her]].

** This troper only hopes the manga gets to use Mari Makinami before it's over.

* EroticDream: Shinji gets one. It involves Asuka and Rei as [[HelloNurse nurses]]. Latter tries to take his temperature with [[AssShove rectal termometer]], while former berates him for acting like wuss when "its not like she's trying to stick her entire arm in!". After waking up [[ButtMonkey Shinji]] [[ChasteHero laments]] that he doesn't get more wholesome dreams.
