* LaserGuidedKarma: Recca's mother, Kagehoshi, is not only a loving wife and mother, but she is basically a good person, so Recca is taken care by a good and loving adoptive father in the future. On the contrary, Kurei's biological mother, Reina, was a horrible person who despised Kagehoshi and Recca for no reasons, that in the future Kurei got a ruthless adoptive father, Kouran Mori, despite his adoptive mother is a loving mom to him.

Added DiffLines:

* FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: In the final round of Ura Butou Satsujin, Recca eventually admits that Kurei is worthy of respect and sympathy due to the fact that Kurei still survives after his hellish upbringing. However, he absolutely does not excuse Kurei's villainy as a result of those (including sadistic torture of others, sending out assassins on innocent people, and cold-bloodedly murdering those he faced in the past tournaments). Recca interprets this as a bullied child bullying others in retaliation, and he has little patience for that kind of person.

* DemonKingNobunaga: Subverted. When Nobunaga was first mentioned, he was described as a demon-like warlord that if he got his hands on the Madogu, the world would be doomed, and thus Ouka decided to have the clan commit a HeroicSacrifice of fighting the Oda troops without Madogu, dooming them in process. In the manga, [[spoiler:Kurei comes back in time to kill Nobunaga right in the middle of Honnoji. Flame of Recca (Rekka no Honoo) is a manga penned by Nobuyuki Anzai, which originally ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1995 to 2002. While a lot criticized it as a FollowTheLeader style manga to Manga/YuYuHakusho, it nevertheless attained some sort of strong cult following, and they indeed came to their own identity. It received an anime adaptation that has a very mixed reception due to only spanning to the first two arcs (Kurei Mansion arc and Ura Butou Satsujin arc) and had a GeckoEnding instead of fillers in fear of overtaking the manga. Still a very solid manga series.

Ah, also about a previous edit. I forgot that it was the SODOM arc you were talking about (but it seemed ZCE), but then we also got cases of Fuuko getting tricked by Kirito and knocked out, and Tokiya having to play the Butt Monkey and falling for Marie's trap.

Accidentally pressed enter before entering reason. Anyway, I do not think that this was a case of Invincible Hero, because while they did manage to turn this around, we still have cases of Fuuko getting sucked into that jar and needing to be bailed out by Raiha (and he gets to kill Soukakusai instead), and Tokiya utterly getting a Curb Stomp Battle against Aoi right after his victory and becoming a Badass In Distress, all of it contributing in throwing Recca into a Heroic BSOD and even after recovering, failed to make a dent against Kirin (it had to be Domon that did it)

** Although his loss in the Sealed Lands was the result of being almost completely outclassed and/or ambushed by Aoi.AoiAoi is part of the Uruha Shishiten, whose power levels stands WAY above Uruha Jyushinshu (minus Meguri Kyouza) and the guardians set around the Sealed Lands. Can be an example of BadassInDistress because at that point Tokiya was the known 'second strongest' of Hokage, so they need to send out someone with extremely higher power level just to be sure. And furthermore, by the beginning of the next arc, Aoi proved herself to be an antithesis of Tokiya that would've beaten him at any level: Aoi's Madogu erases certain part of memories (which she used to make Tokiya think they never meet), and for someone who has high reliance in brains and memory in battle, that's pretty much Tokiya's AchillesHeel..

Recca, since he was young, has always been able to produce flames from his right hand, but has almost no control over anything besides their perpetuated existence. It is only after a fateful meeting with a woman named Kagehoushi, who proceeds to try to kill his new friend Yanagi, that Recca seeks to improve his control over these skills and the real story begins. Meanwhile, certain malevolent parties seek to acquire Yanagi, who possesses the power to heal with a mere touch, for their own ends.

Flame of Recca (Rekka no Honoo) is a manga penned by Anzai Nobuyuki. While a lot criticized it as a FollowTheLeader style manga to Manga/YuYuHakusho, it nevertheless attained some sort of strong cult following, and they indeed came to their own identity. It received an anime adaptation that unfortunately was panned due to only spanning to the first two arcs (Kurei Mansion arc and Ura Butou Satsujin arc) and had a GeckoEnding instead of fillers in fear of overtaking the manga. Still a very solid manga series.
