Even leaving the aside the question of [[WhatWereTheySellingAgain what anything in this scenario had to do with Mountain Dew]], the ad implied that white people cannot tell the difference between a black man and a goat. The fact that it played heavily on racist stereotypes and [[WouldHitAGirl violence against women]] as well didn't help matters.

* The premise of ''ShallowHal'' is that the titular protagonist is hypnotised to see women's "inner beauty" as though it was their "outer beauty", and falls in love with a physically unattractive woman who is truly beautiful on the inside. The problem here is that he doesn't fall in love with her because of her positive qualities while looking past her true appearance - he falls in love with her because he's deceived into thinking she's a hottie. He's still shallow. As is the producers, as the woman is constantly played by a conventionally beautiful actress and her true appearance is only hinted at. Possibly making the matter worse is that she is apparently not just a conventionally ugly person, either, but a morbidly obese monstrosity with horrible dietary habits. She isn't in need of love, she is in need of urgent medical help if she wants to see her thirtieth birthday.
