** Aldia from ''VideoGame/DarkSoulsII'', specifically the ''Scholar of the First Sin'' rerelease (which is named after him). King Vendrick, his brother, is very large but is otherwise seemingly human, but Aldia's experiments have turned him into something ''else'', a mass resembling nothing so much as a giant pile of tree roots that can catch fire on a whim but is not consumed. He is apparently tied to the bonfires somehow, repeatedly popping up from one to have a chat with you. Under the right circumstances, he's the TrueFinalBoss...but killing him doesn't grant souls, and it certainly doesn't seem to stop him talking, implying that he's managed to remove himself from the cycle of life and death.
** One of the four Lords of Cinder in ''VideoGame/DarkSoulsIII'' is Aldrich, Saint of the Deep, whose practice of cannibalism accumulated so much Dark in his body that he "softened into sludge", becoming a BlobMonster who was disposed of by ''forcing'' him to Link the Fire. Defeating him in the game requires you to brave Anor Londo, which he has devastated, leaving the buildings hollowed out and the gods slain or driven away. [[spoiler:During his fight, he waves the corpse of Dark Sun Gwyndolin around like a hand puppet.]]

Nothing is gained with links to character pages. No character is so complex they cannot be summed up in a single trope for ease of reference, with that trope changing depending on context and with it often being irrelevant.

* ''Literature/DoctorSleep'': The [[Characters/TheShining True Knot]] used to be humans with some Shine, but after taking part in a ritual where they painfully ingested some Steam from a previous child victim of the Knot, they became LongLived, slow-aging vampiric creatures who ''look and act'' human at first, but they consume Steam extracted from Shiners to survive, and their flesh and bodies literally flicker in and out of existence as they're dying before they completely evaporate into Steam. In the novel, they distort into a monstrous form with a tusk in the mouth when feeding. The movie version places emphasis on the True Knot's inhuman nature via their body language becoming animalistic and cockroach-like when they're sufficiently agitated.

Spelling/grammar fix(es)

While there are many "classical" monsters that used to be human, such as vampires, werewolves and zombies, they have some element that is recognizably human. You would not know these things had once been human if it wasn't stated in story. Sometimes, [[GoneHorriblyRight the transformation was a desired outcome]] of a person's goal to AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence. Other times, [[ForcedTransformation the transformation was involuntary]], caused by [[TheCorruption some eldritch contagion]] ([[AndIMustScream future sapience is not necessary]]). If the transformation causes them to turn evil (or were already evil while still human), then there may be some TranshumanTreachery involved.
