Groups cannot count as Scrappies, especially if they're as large as an entire species.

* Among ''{{Literature/Dragonlance}}'' players, the kender and tinker gnome races, both intended as PluckyComicRelief, have an ''extremely'' negative reputation for, at best, being very lacking in actual humor and, at worst, [[{{Griefer}} being all-but purpose built for giving players who want to disrupt the game and ruin other players' fun because they think it's funny]]. The short answer is that what's fun or funny in small doses in a novel where the writers control every characters' actions is much less fun or funny every session of a tabletop game, and that the disruptive qualities that make them useful to novelists trying to push the story forward make them less useful to everyone else.
** Kender are by far the more reviled of the two. Intended to be a race that never quite grew out of their [[CuriousAsAMonkey childlike curiosity]] or [[KleptomaniacHero sticky fingers phase]] who [[FearlessFool are brave in part because they don't fully understand danger or have a strong sense of their own mortality]], generations of gamers have used these ''exact'' qualities to constantly pilfer other party members' stuff and then lie about it, or to blunder off into situations that put the team in grave danger so they can giggle at their horrible deaths. Kender are also said to get mad when others accuse them of being thieves, ''supposedly'' because they don't think of what they do as theft, but sourcebooks also describe them as playing coy and suggesting that stolen goods [[FellOffTheBackOfATruck "just so happened to fall into [their] pocket"]] when caught red-handed. The bottom line is that even taking as a given that kender don't fully understand what they're doing, the sadists who love to play them just to screw with their "friends" absolutely do!
** Tinker gnomes get off comparatively lighter in that fans mostly just don't find their schtick funny, and their plight ''is'' part of a divine curse on their race. A race of {{Bungling Inventor}}s who constantly build [[RubeGoldbergDevice unnecessarily overcomplicated machines]] that generally fail and backfire on them, they're mechanically disliked for many of the same reasons some players who don't like wild magic and narratively disliked for basically causing the whole world to swear off technology and embrace MedievalStasis because there's no way ''these'' idiots could be onto something. Worse, when one of their kind breaks their god's curse and actually ''can'' build normal machines, the other gnomes despise him as "mad" and drive him out in a rage the books all-but admit is driven by a subconscious mixture of [[InferioritySuperiorityComplex insecurity]] and [[DrivenByEnvy spiteful envy]]. Since they'll embrace a self-delusional lie rather than admit there might be something wrong with them, many see their racial plight as as much their own fault as a divine curse.
** The same setting also has Gully Dwarves. They have been described as like Dwarves but minus everything that makes dwarves cool. They are so severely stupid that they can barely even count and are ugly and cowardly and lacking in culture and their only talents are their natural survival skills. While they don't get the same outright hatred that Kender and Tinker Gnomes, they have pretty much no fans at all as they lack any appealing traits.

* '''Consistently hated''': If an otherwise well-received character [[NeverLiveItDown does something objectionable that's temporary or minor compared to their liked portrayals]], or is [[DependingOnTheWriter likable depending on who's writing them]], they normally have enough fans not to count as Scrappies. [[labelnote:Example]] [[WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants Patrick Star]] has been incredibly hated due to [[LethallyStupid his stupidity]] and/or {{Jerkass}} behaviors being the causes of several of the show's most hated episodes, but there have been plenty of moments that make people think that he's the show's best character. Thus, he cannot be considered a Scrappy. [[/labelnote]]

* ''ComicStrip/KnightsOfTheDinnerTable'':
** Some readers of the magazine ''hated'' Creator/NoahAntwiler's column "A Gamer's Rant on the Movies". It drew a number of complaints, largely from readers who seemed to be [[PoesLaw taking the column seriously]]. For a while, its page was printed with a dotted line down the side, with instructions to readers on how to cut out the page if they did not like it. Despite the support of Jolly Blackburn, who thought Noah's rants about bad sci-fi and fantasy movies were funny, the column was canceled after an on-line poll on the Kenzerco forums declared it the most hated part of the magazine.
** The replacement column, ''Gaming The Movies'', qualifies as well. Ignoring the fans of Creator/NoahAntwiler's original column who are still petitioning for his return, there is a vocal portion of the fan base who claim that the column is little more than an instruction manual on how to rip-off things you saw in a movie and use them in your game.

While he started as a fairly typically divisive character who had his defenders and detractors, he truly fell into the pool of the hated during the Cyan Desert Arc and especially afterwards where his act of villainy and ''especially'' how he was handled after that left him a character that many saw as lacking remorse, subject to needless soft-handedness and shilling, and otherwise the one villainous character in the story to not get proper punishment for their actions. Even after he was written out, any mention of Parker draws in anger from the readership who request a desire to see him hurt and his focus chapter in Branching Paths got far fewer responses than Chloe's, Ash's, or Goh's.

* ''ComicStrip/DickTracy'':
** Susie Zonn, more well known as Wingy Plenty is a particularly disliked character. While she started out sympathetic as the daughter of Odds Zonn, her traits of "glows in the dark under stress" and "has worse baby talk than characters much younger than her" both didn't really mesh well into any storyline, and came off as more annoying than anything. The fact that she was always with at least one of the popular Plenty family at any given time resulted in her being overshadowed at every given moment and she was eventually PutOnABus.
---> '''Wingy''': "He no like we, we no like he!"
** Moon Maid is the biggest example this for most people who despise the space era.
*** Her father, even for people who don't. He constantly shifts back and forth from shaking hands with Tracy to trying to wage war on mankind (In fact, he does ''exactly that'' in his very first appearance). He's a KarmaHoudini thanks to his position of literal and political power (in a comic that usually kills off people as corrupt as he). He has a HumansAreBastards vendetta at all the most inopportune times. He essentially kidnaps his daughter in a moment of weakness on her part and sneers at Tracy's "violent nature" when they object. Later when his daughter starts having a baby on a trip to Earth, he tries to force the controls to take them back to the moon (against the wishes of everyone) and ends up stranding them in space. His reaction to the aforementioned event is pure horror at [[ItsAllAboutMe his granddaughter not being born on the moon, until he realizes it happens to be a pretty baby, and is also the first baby to ever be born in space.]] All in all he's the least enjoyable part of anything he appears in.
** Pig E. Bank for being an utter KarmaHoudini in a strip that notoriously adverts JokerImmunity.
** 3D Magee, for [[GenericDoomsdayVillain utterly lacking any personality]] outside of "evil", and having a storyline that dragged on for ''SEVEN MONTHS''. Throw in that he's super creepy around both his hired maid and the Plenty children, and we have a character more hated than the rest of 'em. [[FadSuper The 3D glasses also seem a bit random.]]
** And then there's Morin Plenty. Suffice it to say that this is generally regarded as Gould's absolute worst attempt to create a "funny" character. Among the many "quirks" we are supposed to find funny about this guy include the fact that despite being 80, his wife is 20.
** Among creators, Dick Locher is generally regarded as the worst, due to his art errors, out-of-character cast, ludicrous plots and horrifically slow storylines.

* While not the case in other versions of ''Theatre/LesMiserables'', Cosette is not very liked in the musical. This is due to many perceiving her as underdeveloped despite her pivotal role, as most of her original characterization is cut out of the stage adaptation. Making matters worse is the musical made her romantic rival Eponine far more popular than she ever was before, thus causing many of Eponine's fans to say that Cosette doesn't deserve Marius.[[/folder]]

* Productions of ''Theatre/TheMerchantOfVenice'' have to be very careful when it comes to how they present Portia due to the ValuesDissonance making a lot of her actions age horribly. Modern interpretations view her as something of an AlphaBitch - especially with her unfortunate line about not wanting to marry the Prince of Morocco because of his skin colour. And once she does marry Bassanio, she tricks him into giving up his ring and tries to paint it as him being unfaithful.

** The Ultramarines in general became a major target of fandom hate starting with 5th edition, thanks to the release of a codex that saw them being upgraded from a chapter of Greco-Roman generalists to the greatest Space Marines in the entire galaxy; it was stated that all other Space Marines wanted to be just like the Ultramarines and revered their primarch and chapter master even above their own progenitors and legendary warriors. To many fans, the arch-Scrappy of this Scrappy chapter is Second Company Captain, Captain Cato Sicarus, is the most disliked of the already contemptuous faction. Sicarius. ** Swan Redbird, cousin of Venus the Fairest, gets this for being the ToxicFriendInfluence of Venus, and potentially sending Mewni into its Dark Ages (as Venus had been a Star Queen and history could have gone very differently had Swan hadn't corrupted Venus so young).
** Nixie the Queen Poisoner used to have her fans, despite being known as, well, the Queen Poisoner, but that dropped overnight when it's revealed [[spoiler:she caused Hemera to miscarry three babies.]]
