* Little Gray, a monkey, was added to ''VideoGame/MetalGearSolid4'' because Raiden's motion actor was really good at doing monkey impressions, and made the crew crack up by doing them in the [[MotionCapture mocap]] clothes. Hideo Kojima decided to add a monkey character for him to play in addition to Raiden.

* In the ''Series/{{Castle}}'' episode "The Last Call", the main cast does an impromptu performance of "Piano Man". Most fans were [[WebVideo/DoctorHorriblesSingAlongBlog already aware of]] Creator/NathanFillion's voice, but many were amazed by Creator/SeamusDever and Stana Katic's chops. Rumor has it, Creator/JonHuertas (Esposito) is pushing for a musical episode.

* When Creator/JeffGoldblum was on ''Series/LawAndOrderCriminalIntent'', he was given a few chances to display his piano playing skills.
** This wasn't the first time this happened - Goldblum also played piano in ''Film/TheFly1986''.
*** He also tickled the ivories in one episode of ''Series/{{Raines}}''.
*** During one scene in ''Film/TheAdventuresOfBuckarooBanzaiAcrossThe8thDimension'', he plays a part of the movie's title theme.
*** He does a bit of piano on ''Film/EarthGirlsAreEasy'', channeling Creator/JerryLewis as Buddy Love.

* Subverted and PlayedForLaughs in ''Film/TheSoundOfMusic''. When her character takes the children out in Salzburg, Creator/JulieAndrews presents three tomatoes as if she's about to juggle them for the children's amusement. As she's about to start she remembers she can't juggle three, so instead puts one back and just juggles two.

* The ''Series/VeronicaMars'' season 1 episode "[[JustForPun Clash of the Tritons]]" had a scene that took place in a karaoke bar where Veronica got called up to sing. Kristen Bell did all her own singing, which is probably half the reason the scene was written in the first place. (The other half: it's ''[[RuleOfCool karaoke]]''. The show's creator, however, mused on the prevalence of musical episodes in shows at the time, that since she was the ''only'' cast member who could sing...)

** In some episodes Chandler (played by Creator/MatthewPerry) is seen playing tennis well and is also a good ping pong player. Perry has a keen interest in tennis and was a top-ranked junior player. Matthew also played a tennis player on ''Series/BeverlyHills90210''.

* Creator/StepfanieKramer, who played LAPD detective sergeant Dee Dee [=McCall=] in ''Series/{{Hunter}}'', had another career as a singer. In one episode of ''Series/{{Hunter}}'' [=McCall=] went undercover as a nightclub singer.
* ''Series/ICarly'': Sam/Jennette shows off her dancing skills in "iDream of Dance" and "iWas A Pageant Girl".

* On one episode of ''Series/TheState'' spinoff ''Series/VivaVariety'', the musical guest was Cake Like, co-host Kerri Kenney's band. This involved her introducing the band in character, then switching costumes and singing a song as herself.

** And the 100th episode, "Girls vs. Suits" gives us NPH, Jason Segel, Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, and Creator/AlysonHannigan singing a musical number - "Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit". And it is, you guessed it, [[CatchPhrase legendary]].

* On one episode of ''Series/{{Psych}}'' we got to see Dulé Hill's tap dancing skills. Later, in a blooper scene for another episode, when he comments that he has NO idea what he's talking about because he didn't take shop in high school, somebody off-screen asks if he was "too busy tap dancing". ** Also High Top Fade Out in which Gus is reunited with 1/2 of his college quartet. Dulé and James show off their singing skills.
** In many episode "Psych-out"s the cast assembles for a song. Season 7 will have an episode titled "[[MusicalEpisode Psych: The Musical]]".

* Why does Ed Warren sing "Can't Help Falling In Love" in ''Film/TheConjuringII''? So we can all listen to longtime Broadway leading man Creator/PatrickWilson sing "Can't Help Falling In Love", of course. Nobody's complaining.

* An uncommon use in an English dub: Creator/EricStuart did some singing in a couple of episodes, and he also provided some extra vocal tracks for the western fans of ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}''; the man has his own band.

** This wasn't the first time this happened - Goldblum also played piano in ''TheFly''.

** When reviewing an anime where characters would randomly switch between English and Spanish for no clear reason, WebVideo/BennettTheSage shouted in mock horror "Have the Mexicans taken over the world? Oh God, why didn't I listen to Creator/{{Fox News|Channel}} when I had the chance!" in perfect Spanish.

** In the ''Anime/DigimonTamers'' movie ''[[Recap/DigimonTamersM2RunawayLocomon Runaway Locomon]]'', Rita gets a song, which gives Creator/FumikoOrikasa and Creator/MelissaFahn a chance to show your their singing talent.

* Creator/MichellePfeiffer's baton-twirling in ''Film/{{Hairspray}}''. In fact, the creators of the 2007 movie have said that a lot of the parts were cast to show off the cast members' musical skills, especially from people whose talent wasn't exceptionally well-known (Creator/JamesMarsden, Creator/AmandaBynes, Creator/ChristopherWalken), or who hadn't had much of a chance to show off in recent years (Pfeiffer, Creator/JohnTravolta, and even Music/QueenLatifah is nowadays seen by most as an actress more than a musician).

*** Uhura's singing abilities are so integral to the character that when Uhura was cast in ''Series/StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds'' as a young cadet fresh out of the academy they went with Creator/CeliaRoseGooding, a trained Broadway musical actress, who has had plenty of opportunities to show off her exceptional voice during the show even before it did a [[/Recap/StarTrekStrangeNewWorldsS2E09SubspaceRhapsody big damn musical episode]].

* ''Literature/InfiniteStratos'' has the members of Ichika's harem sing the ending song ''Super Stream'':

** Episode 4: Add [[Creator/AsamiShimoda Lingyin]].

** In the episode "[[{{Recap/FireflyE04Shindig}} Shindig]]", River deconstructs the mobster Badger, all in a Cockney accent -- again utilizing Creator/SummerGlau's knack for accents, or what the show's producers thought was a knack for accents. Her Cockney accent [[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent has been heavily criticized, however.]]
** In a CastTheExpert cross-over, River is an expert in dancing, which she displays in "[[{{Recap/FireflyE05Safe}} Safe]]". Her flexibility is also shown off in a few instances, notably in "[[{{Recap/FireflyE14ObjectsInSpace}} Objects in Space]]" and several instances where she [[CeilingCling clings to the ceiling]].

** The show even went so far as to have a whole episode with a plot based around the Doctor's singing, in which he becomes a celebrity to a race of aliens that have never heard music before. (Ironically, that episode - "[[{{Recap/StarTrekVoyagerS6E13Virtuoso}} Virtuoso]]" - features the only use of a TalentDouble for the Doctor's singing - operatic tenor Agostino Castellano dubbed over Robert Picardo for ''Don Carlo'' and ''Rondine Al Nido'' (all other songs in the episode are performed by Picardo).

** In "[[{{Recap/StarTrekTheNextGenerationS5E8Unification2}} Unification, Part II]]", we get Frakes playing a brisk piece on the piano as well as Creator/MichaelDorn singing a part of a Klingon opera.

* ''Series/{{Star Trek|The Original Series}}'': Creator/GeorgeTakei didn't know how to fence prior to being cast for ''Star Trek'', though he said he could learn in order to better his chances at landing the role; when granted the role of Sulu he went out that weekend to do just that. In the episode "[[{{Recap/StarTrekS1E4TheNakedTime}} The Naked Time]]" he finally got to put his skills to practice after suggesting that he fences instead of running around with a katana playing samurai, as the writers initially intended.

** ''[[InvertedTrope Inverted]]'' in "[[{{Recap/StarTrekDeepSpaceNineS07E04TakeMeOutToTheHolosuite}} Take Me Out to the Holosuite]]"; Max Grodénchik (Rom) was a semi-pro baseball player in high school, nearly going full-professional before getting into acting. He was actually incapable of playing as badly as Rom was supposed to be (Rom was supposed to be by far the worst player on the team), which is why he plays left-handed in the episode.

* In the Hexagonal Phase of ''Radio/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy'', Left Brain (formerly Zaphod's other head) explains they were separated in a TeleporterAccident, and immediately launches into "[[https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p061m3yq The Teleportation Blues]]" (from ''Literature/TheRestaurantAtTheEndOfTheUniverse''). Because why get Music/MitchBenn and ''not'' have him sing?

* [[Theatre/{{Les Miserables}} "Bring Him Home"]] was supposedly written for Colm Wilkinson's voice and range. Similarly, Christine was changed from a member of the chorus to a member of the corps de ballet in order to show off Sarah Brightman's skills en pointe.

** Gayle gets an opportunity to sing in a few episodes. Gayle is voiced by Megan Mullally, who's singing talents are discussed above in Live-Action TV under Series/WillAndGrace.

** And of course, if you have a classically trained jazz singer turned [[TheEighties Eighties pop icon]] and Broadway star Music/CindiLauper playing the PolicePsychic, and invite said character to the sweeps week wedding, of course the producers gonna make use of those pipes.
