[[caption-width-right:300:Guess you can call him [=SpongeBob=] Splitpants now.]]
A Comedy trope related to PoppingButtons. The character drops some item, bends down to retrieve it, and hears the sound of ripping fabric. This is usually because they have gained weight, or sometimes because they are clumsy and prone to a WardrobeMalfunction.

The character often suffers ComedicUnderwearExposure as a result, which is even worse if they happen to be wearing GoofyPrintUnderwear. And if [[NakedPeopleAreFunny they're really unlucky]], this may even happen to their underwear, or they may not be [[GoingCommando wearing underwear at all]].

This trope is the opposite of MagicPants. Compare OpenFlyGag.
