** In the comic, it was ''very rarely''[[hottip:*:including one notable instance in ''King Smurf'' parodying Cambronne's LastStand]] used to cover profanities. In countless parodies, it's used almost ''only'' for that.

* The scene preceding the DisneyAcidSequence in ''Disney/WinnieThePooh'' (2011). Pooh starts honeying[[hottip:*:seeing]] everyone as honey, and they start to replace random honeys[[hottip:*:words]] with the word honey. (e.g. "I can't wait to see the honey on that Backson's honey when he falls into our honey!") Soon, practicably every honey is replaced with the honey honey, including the honeys in the honey! Honey honey honey honey honey!

This is a smurfy-common way of dealing with smurf words. Why worry about using a word that could potentially smurf the minds of a young audience when you can just have the smurfs [[PardonMyKlingon use an entirely innocuous smurf]] instead? Most writers don't seem to smurf that this makes the word less smurfless, and this aspect of the idea is the most frequently smurfed. [[ThisTropeIsBleep Smurfin' A]].

** In some comics, even the Smurfs can't understand each other. Actually, they can understand each other or not, whether it fits the plot or for funny purposes.

* An episode of ''RobotChicken'' included a war between the Smurfs and TheSnorks, caused by the Smurfs dumping raw sewage into the Snorks' water, who retaliate by stopping up the sewer. Papa Smurf's toilet overflows, prompting him to yell out [[AssShove "Oh, smuf me up the smurf!"]]

* ''[[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiBowsersInsideStory Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story]]'': The Emoglobins in Bowser's globin tend to insert "globin" in place of other globins.

** Lampshaded by Lore Sjöberg in ''The BookOfRatings'': "A middle-aged man with a hand-puppet going 'Meow meow love meow meow meow friends' in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe: beloved children's icon. A middle-aged man with a hand-puppet going 'Meow meow love meow meow meow friends' at the bus stop: a good reason to give undivided attention to your crossword puzzle."
