* ''Series/MarriedWithChildren'': The Bundys and the Darcys both win a shot at a local grocery store's ''SupermarketSweep''-type contest. The Bundys show up with a {{Pimped Out car}}t. The Darcys find the best cart possible, but it's disqualified for not being from that store so they have to make do with a rickety old cart with wheels that go all which way.

* A far-less lighthearted example, in ''VideoGame/Fallout3'' Super Mutants use shopping carts as cages to keep wastelanders secure until the Mutants get hungry or worse, need someone to keep up their numbers. Super Mutant Behemoths, the [[LargeAndInCharge biggest]] and [[StrongerWithAge oldest]] carry shopping carts on their backs for the same purpose. The thing is the shopping carts the Behemoths carry are much larger than others; this is due to the Behemoth model being sized up to be more intimidating at the cost of not everything being scaled properly.

* ''Series/CanadasWorstDriver'': In season 5, one contestant was reminiscing about playing "Shopping Cart Hockey" with his friends -- and they incorporated it into the show, with the contestants using their cars to push a shopping cart down a road and through a goal. They liked it so much, they have used several variations since then (but not with actual shopping carts).
