Of course; sometimes the Hero's target is not so specific as one person. Sometimes it can branch out to an entire organization, or to an entire race. Some examples of this could be a partisan whose family was killed by soldiers a RapePillageAndBurn raid (and who in retaliation is killing as many soldiers from that army as possible), or an apocalypse survivor whose son was killed by zombies (and who as a result devoted his life to ridding the world of them).

If the hero has a specific hit-list, this usually ends up as a GottaKillThemAll situation as the hero hunts down and kills each bad guy on the list before moving on to the next. In most cases, the second to last bad guy on the hit-list is the [[TheDragon Dragon]] for whichever BigBad that the hero has saved for last, and is usually someone the hero has an especially personal beef with and/or is the most {{psycho|ForHire}}tic or otherwise hateworthy foe on the list aside from the BigBad.

Many such avengers may keep a TragicKeepsake to remind them of their lost loved one or other reason that they're on this vendetta to begin with, although they may fall victim to ForgottenFallenFriend if the quest goes on long enough. Sometimes fulfilling the revenge may end up as a case of VengeanceFeelsEmpty and not give the avenger the expected joy, particularly if they come to feel that the avenged [[MoralityChainBeyondTheGrave would not have wanted it that way]]. While in some cases, fulling the revenge may instead end up become bloodthristy and developed a BloodKnight personality, or worse, PutTheLaughterInSlaughter.
