* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'': Near the end of "A Canterlot Wedding, Part One", Twilight Sparkle's slanderous and unfounded claims that her brother's wife-to-be, Princess Cadance is evil has resulted in her friends, her brother, and the princess losing their trust in her, leaving her a doubt-filled wreck. Instead of talking her into going back to Ponyville in shame, or just leaving her alone, the "Cadance" decides to reveal her true colors and sends Twilight down to the dungeons, where she finds Cadance (the '''REAL''' one), realizes she was half-right all along (with the other Cadance turning out to be an evil imposter) and organizes a breakout followed by a wedding interruption.

* When journalist Brian Deer began investigating Andrew Wakefield's study into the alleged connection between the MMR vaccine and autism, Wakefield attempted to shut him up by suing him for libel. All this accomplished was getting ''himself'' arrested and later convicted for their murder, which brought to light all the things the Murdaughs were hiding anyway due to the highly publicized trial.

* In ''Film/JackReacher'', an ex-Army sniper named James Barr is accused of going on a shooting spree and killing multiple people. Barr reaches out to Jack Reacher, a former military policeman he knew from the service, begging Reacher to clear his name. Reacher isn't inclined to help, since he knows Barr was [[SociopathicSoldier one of those guys who enlisted so he could kill people legally]], and even after seeing some details from the case that look strange, like that the site where the shots were fired from goes against all of the sniper tactics Barr was taught in the Army ''and'' that it should have taken a shooter considerably better than Barr to hit multiple shots from that location, Reacher is still ready to shrug it off. After all, maybe the conditions for making a long range shot were really good that day and Barr just got lucky with hitting his targets. Then just before Reacher would have left town and gone on his merry way, a group of guys use an obviously contrived excuse to pick a fight with Reacher, and [[InstantEmergencyResponse the police arrive to break up the fight suspiciously quickly]] and start harassing Reacher and telling him to leave town. ''That'' convinces Reacher that there truly was an effort by a conspiracy to frame Barr, and he starts investigating in earnest.
