* Mac Taylor from ''{{CSINY}}'' suffers from this frequently. After the death of Angell, when he is caught up with the solving the case,Stella actually tells him that he isn't alone. It later became a big part of his recovery from being shot during the season 8 finale. Mac struggled with a speech aphasia condition as a result, and although his friends knew something was wrong, he wouldn't open up to them. Jo, Stella's replacement, confronted him but he rebuffed her. He later apologized, but still insisted she not keep pushing. His girlfriend, Christine, called him on it and was pushed away as well, before Mac finally apologized and opened up to her when he realized she was ready to leave him. Christine again reminded him that he wasn't alone between her and his friends. Whether he listens remains to be seen.

This time, it was probably a combo of typical male ego/reluctance to appear weak and concern that if too many people found out, it might endanger his career.

Nah, just bad habits. Someone from his {{Nakama}} just has to remind him of the PowerOfFriendship and the PowerOfTrust. Let it be known that his mistrust is hurtful. Distinguishable from AesopAmnesia in that they do not have to learn the lesson over again; the reminder often suffices, for an explanation of secrecy if not an actual explanation.

* The guys in YuYuHakusho never have anything quite so squishy as a 'learning to trust others' arc, but Hiei gets smacked with a few 'power of...mutually beneficial cooperation' moments over the course of the series.
** Of course, the real whopper is at the Gate of Betrayal when they've all been a team approximately four minutes, and Yusuke asks Hiei, still a CardCarryingVillain on probationary community service, to run pull the lever that will stop the giant rock crushing them all to death. In a place where the whole ''point'' is that only the one who runs and abandons his friends can survive.
*** The reasoning was that Hiei is the fastest, so it's ''logical'' to have him be the one who runs while the rest of them take his load. The length of time he hesitated over whether to let them die kind of obviates this point, but since he was the only one fast enough to avoid the death-by-squishing that was set up for anyone who ''didn't'' betray their comrades, it's a good thing Yusuke did pick him.
*** Either way, that shining smile of trust out of ''nowhere''...eat your heart out. Hiei never quite recovered from it. (He never quite recovered from Kurama's helping him out when they first met, either, but that was a lot less dramatic an event. He really is kind of cute for a psychopath.)
*** This is the second stage of the triumphant culmination of Yusuke's own Power Of Trust arc. By the end of the series he's got the shonen-hero ability to shift people's hearts with only his power and enthusiasm down, which is not bad for a grouchy loner who figured he and the world were probably both better off with him dead.
