* ''WesternAnimation/{{Amphibia}}'': [[Characters/AmphibiaTheCore The Core]] initial form is a pitch-black machine with over thirteen orange eyes, and when they become Darcy, they put her in an all-black outfit with a matching helmet. This becomes more played straight for the final battle, as the Core's orange eyes turn red in sheer rage at their foiled invasion, not to mention their planetoid form being almost entirely red.

** Professor Ratigan, the arch-villain of ''WesternAnimation/TheGreatMouseDetective'', wears a black suit with a red OminousOperaCape.

* ''WesternAnimation/HarleyQuinn2019'': Harley wears a black and red costume, (both her original costume and the New 52 costume) and is the VillainProtagonist.

* Averted with the heroine of ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'', whose outfit is red with black spots because she's modeled after the ladybug, bringer of good luck. Played straight with her EvilKnockoff Antibug, though, with an inverted color scheme.

In fact, the more of this colorization a character shares [[GoodColorsEvilColors the more evil they will be]], and having all of these colors likely means they're the big guy himself in disguise.

* Seems to be popular with ''ComicBook/{{Batman}}'' spin-off characters these days. While Batman and his protege are heroic, they use the color scheme to appear sinister and intimidating or to achieve VillainCred when they need to, making this an InvokedTrope.

* In the ComicBook/New52's ''ComicBook/BlueBeetle'', Blue's EvilCounterpart Blood Beetle has a red and black color scheme, in contrast to [[ColorCharacter Blue]] Beetle's blue and black color scheme.

* ComicBook/{{Deadpool}}'s red suit with black stripes and matching red and black hood. Subverted in that he's not evil (usually). He's just ''[[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity crazy]]''.
* ''ComicBook/DoctorStrange'' foe Dormammu has a black BadassLongcoat with large red plates, as well as a red BattleAura and the small fact that his head is on fire.

** ComicBook/{{Superboy}} uses this color scheme in regards to [[BroughtToYouByTheLetterS Superman's trademark "S"]] for his ComicBook/New52 incarnation, where his costume is completely red-and-black. While Superboy is a hero, the opening issue of [[ComicBook/SuperboyNew52 his comic]] (as well as the rebooted ''Comicbook/TeenTitans'' comic) uses the color scheme to make him seem sinister.

* During the Red Hulk's incarnation of the ComicBook/{{Thunderbolts}}, the entire team wore red and black, including both ComicBook/ThePunisher and Agent ComicBook/{{Venom}}, who are noted for wearing black and white. When Deadpool calls Venom a suck-up for changing his colors with the rest of them, the former soldier strangles Deadpool, telling him that keeping the same color means there's less of a chance for FriendlyFire.

** ''Series/IronFist2017'': Despite at first seeming like a peaceful retreat for New York City kids with nowhere else to turn for help, the compound run by Colleen Wing's ''sensei'' Bakuto is actually just another faction of the Hand. A sharp-eyed viewer will have picked up the connection long before Danny realizes it by noticing that Bakuto and most of the other students wear red t-shirts, black pants, and black leather jackets.

We see in Episode 3 that his human form has been wearing black clothes for centuries, and in the present day, the red collar on his black blazer becomes a minor plot point [[spoiler:when Aziraphale turns it tartan]].
