Honestly, this example defeats its own validity by admitting that there are still caveats that make this fight far from the expected cakewalk post-final bosses are (the time limit, the "finnicky" mechanics, and the duration)

** ''VideoGame/MetroidPrime2Echoes'' follows almost the same setup as ''Fusion''; the "real" final boss is grueling three-phase affair against the Emperor Ing, followed by an EscapeSequence with a suspiciously generous time limit. Sure enough, the player is ambushed by RecurringBoss Dark Samus during their escape, and the two Samuses duel one last time. The fight is not especially difficult, especially compared to Emperor Ing, but it does take a fairly long time and the mechanics for damaging Dark Samus can be finnicky, making the time limit an actual threatening factor.

*** After defeating the FinalBoss of the main story, the player has a [[CutsceneBoss Cutscene]] [[DuelBoss Duel]] MirrorBoss between the boxart legendary you have been traveling with and an aggressive member of its species that had been bullying it before the events of the game sent out by the last line of defense for a TimeMachine known as the Paradise Protection Protocol, which is scripted to be impossible to lose. ** In ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire]]'', TheRival May/Brendan serves this role, challenging you to a battle after the credits and being around 10 levels lower than the Champion. They ''do'' use a Mega Evolution, but it's likely to be so underleveled it's hardly a threat. Also, like the above AZ fight, you don't even gain exp for this battle. The fight mostly exists to wrap-up the rival's character arc.
** After defeating the FinalBoss of ''VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon'', [[OlympusMons Tapu Koko]] recognizes you as a WorthyOpponent and appears as your final encounter before the credits roll. You can catch it if you're so inclined, but here you only have to defeat it. It will reappear right where it is any time after the credits roll.
