* Josuke Higashikata from ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'', [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable Part 4]]. Quite a serious motivation for this one; when he was a toddler, he had a dangerous fever, and his mother was driving him to the hospital when she got stuck in the snow. A stranger came out of nowhere and used his jacket to free her tire, then left, never to be seen again. The only thing Josuke remembers of him is his pompadour, and as such always has one himself, making this trope very understandable.

Quite a serious motivation Higashikata, protagonist of ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable'', is normally an {{Adorkable}} NiceGuy...but say ''anything'' negative about his pompadour and you're in for a world of hurt. Later on it's revealed why this one; is such a sensitive issue for him: when he was a toddler, child he had a dangerous fever, got deathly ill and his mother was driving him on the way to the hospital when she his mother's car got stuck in the snow. A stranger came out of nowhere snow. Suddenly a young man with a pompadour showed up and used his jacket to helped free her tire, then left, never to be seen again. The only thing the car; as a result, Josuke remembers of him is wears his pompadour, hair that way in honor of his mysterious savior, and takes any slights against it as such always has one himself, making this trope very understandable.slights against the man who saved his life.

* Musashi/Jessie in ''{{Anime/Pokemon}}''. It's only come up twice in the series, but that's more than enough to hammer the point home. The first time, an encounter with a swarm of Scyther cut most of it off. Her weeping soon turns into a SlasherSmile towards the Scyther, and were it not for Ash and friends showing up, Heaven knows what she would have done. The second time, we get an idea: a wild Seviper defeated Ash's Treecko. That same Seviper also outsmarted Team Rocket's attempts to catch itů up until [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2YWF74cCts the point where it bit off a large portion of Jessie's hair.]]
